  1. However the real thanks should go to everyone that took the time and effort to place all the caches that we found. By a strange coincidence we found our 100th cache exactly a year after finding our first! Here are our favourites (in order of finding): Bond Street - Interesting folly and great views Alton Barnes - Great views and a pub by the canal Agglestone Rock - How on earth did it get there? The Hookey Howk - Wonderful walk with historical interest St Etheldreda's - Amazed to find this in London South Downs Epic 1 - Great walk to an interesting structure An Island - In The New Forest? - Beautiful location Quantum Leap (Part 1) - Inventive multi-cache Pin Station - Beautiful location with a novel cache Brunel's View - Good multi-cache with a great view of the suspension bridge Royal Crescent - Excellent location and a novel container Caen Flight, Devizes - Impressive flight of locks West Kennett Longbarrow - Atmospheric place and a novel container The Cockatrice - Beautiful location St. Agnes Beacon - Great all round views Carn Brea - Interesting monument and good views The Loe Cache - Great coastal location Silvan Sanctuary - Wonderful river and woodland walk Nawtcher's Cornwall - Final location was a big surprise Sham Castle - Interesting folly with a great view of Bath We've really enjoyed the last year and found that geocaching has really enhanced our love of walking. Doing a walk without a cache doesn't have quite the same appeal any more! Our friends think it's a bit odd, especially when you tell them you did a cache especially to find a small teddy bear! We're proud to say that we were the first to find both Mark 1 and Mark 2 Tim & June bears! We've also enjoyed placing our own caches. We like sharing our favourite places and Jane likes scouting the shops for bargains to put in the caches. Most of all we enjoy reading the logs so a big thank you to everyone who's visited our caches! Gary and Jane

  5. quote:I was looking for a forum or part of Geocaching.com that you can log missing bugs, as yet I havnt't benn able to find that part of the site I'm not aware of any official place to log them but many people place them in the Travel Bug Graveyard. You can always resurrect Zippy if he's found again!
  6. Thanks for this useful addition. We've noticed a minor bug when the conversion results in a grid reference less than 10000. When this occurs the leading zeroes aren't displayed. For example N 50°51.482 W 001°56.974 gets converted to SU 3647 6510 instead of SU 03647 06510.
  7. We made a routine maintenance visit today to our Devil & The Deep Blue Sea cache and found that it's gone missing. We'd like to see the Evens score a goal now! We'll replace the cache shortly to make it a bit fairer. However it looks like there's no real rush seeing the speed the ball's moving at the moment!
  8. quote:Originally posted by Huga: Well, I say it's OK...Printer-friendly mode has no logs. I often find the logs invaluable for helping to find a cache, so I still suggest that people carefully consider their cache page layout. If you didn't get all that, here's a conclusion: Printer-friendly mode allows these pages to print OK, but that shouldn't be taken as the solution since those pages have no logs. If you go to the print-friendly page you will find another link "Make this page print-friendly (show 5 logs)" which solves the problem. In fact you can view as many logs as you like by changing the "numlogs=5" part of the new URL.
  9. I emailed geocaching.com about the lack of response to this thread and whether the UK benchmarks were going to be incorporated into the site. I got a reply from Jeremy which he said I could post here: "Yes, we will add them but unfortunately due to the amount of time we currently have it won't occur for a while. We have more pressing issues with keeping up with traffic on the site, so we have to convert some code over. We are still planning on offering it, however. I do not monitor every forum, so it's not my ignoring certain posts. I just don't have the time to read everything in the forums nowadays. Jeremy" So now we know!
  10. An AVI of the broadcast was created. Team Tate who featured in the article are waiting for permission from Carlton to publish it.
  11. quote:Originally posted by The Northumbrian:I thought the Advertising of Companies was not not allowed, yet some still blatently break the rules of Geocaching .com, could the reply to Andy not have been sent direct, you know Advertising causes bother, yet there are those who dont seem to give a hoot , and to hell with rules Blimey! You try and help a fellow geocacher and that's what you get. It seems mad that you can't mention the name of a company that sells geocaching items - especially one that's listed on the Groundspeak website! For future reference can anyone point us to the rules regarding posting messages on the forum. We've had a look for them but not been able to find them.
  12. 9th May - Poole, Dorset. Another addition to the tightly packed defensive wall. Could be considered to be the goalies!
  13. You can add us to the list of players. By the way - nice choice of Odds home goal

  15. I guess you are using Internet Explorer. If this is so then the following link gives details on how to remove individual AutoComplete entries. Hope this helps.
  16. Alison Seymour from Carlton TV says that the geocaching film is due to go out tonight, Monday 17th June between 6 and 6.30pm. Hope Team Tate don't mind us publishing the details but we have been unable to contact them and this is short notice.
  17. Last year I got some plugs from Purple Computing UK. The plugs have no fixed price - you pay what you believe they are worth! They also sell ready made cables at a reasonable price. For example, an eTrex data cable costs £16.
