  1. And then drop it so it can move along.
  2. We have a vacation house near Searcy and there are several cachers in that area. We always get a few while we are there.
  3. Heck! We have cachers who get mad at cachers!!!! I'm not a letterbox pursuer however, I'm sure there are some Cachers who look down on Letterboxing as well. ... Maybe it's something about the word BOX or BOXING that gets people into confrontation. Maybe?
  4. Perhaps you are wrong in your thinking that 'everyone' agrees with you. Perhaps the caches are perfectly fine, but not your cup of tea. If you believe that one person's caches are lame, ignore that person's caches. It easily solves your problem and still allows those people who like his caches to enjoy them. Stop trying to make everyone place caches that you like. Agreed. Not everyone's opinion of a cache matches mine or someone else. If you find a bad/lame cache, okay, on to the next one. I have a guy here I don't particularly like his caches but I've also found a couple of 'ok' caches of his. It's chance but it's not the end of the world.
  5. We just about got through a week without Swag Angst. Almost.
  6. JF, It's whatever you make of it. Many use PDA and such. I know a couple of cachers who do bring their laptops along for the ride. They're prudy happy with it. I do believe your idea is best suited for city folk and burbs. It's whatever you make of it.
  7. If your Spidey senses tell you something is wrong, by all means, turn back, 'specially if you're by yourself. ... The accomplishment is the climb, your 'solitude' and returning safely. Imagine if something had happened how you'd feel. ---> Much more regret!
  8. I gotta say that is an original swag item.
  9. I went to Academy Sports Outdoors and bought what is essentially a broom stick for $7. I jsut throw in the back of the pickup and pull it if I have to hike some. I've had it over a year. When it gives out, I'll buy another one. ... But the collapsible does make sense if you are using a small to mid size car. ... If I did more hiking, I'd buy a for-real walking stick in the area of what you're contemplating. Good luck.
  10. To quote the post in last weeks Regular v. Member Only Caches, I live in an area where there isn't much in the way of cachers. To make a cache in this area a MOC, would only limit caching as a whole around here. I want to make as easy as possible, and still provide quality caches, for all to hunt.
  11. Man O Man Brakeguy. You keep us in the loop on your progress. Don't try to rush anything. Let the body heal in it's own time.
  12. As long as the is factual and not theory, I think it could do nothing but help - 'specially for noobs. Any and all information would be appreciated.
  13. Based on the OP's remarks - Log it as a NOTE.
  14. Con Katt, Since you put this out here for public comment, furthering your social contact, I'd say you log the finds-DNF's-notes, whatever. If the owner comments, then you ignore and choose not to reply. Call it 'turning the other cheek.' - This way, you're not interacting anymore than you want to.
  15. I got one of those 20mm ammo cans at an event last year as a door prize. It was painted PINK!!! The instructions were hide it where it would fit in. I wanted to buy about 20 pink flamingo's and put all around it. Finally made it a multi and everything in it was PINK. All trades are to be PINK.
  16. You'll also know you're addicted if you plan caching along any trip you make, long or short. Fly or drive. You'll spend a couple of hours looking for caches to find.
  17. What's the plaster or quik-crete for???
  18. Sure, I've found caches more than a few feet from ground zero but I never make mention of it. My GPSr could be having a bad day or they did, 50-50. I'm not that arrogant to think my coordinates are any better than anyone else's. Some people do make comments about this cache or that cache and some will post their 'found coordinates'. I ignore 'em.
  19. I too was once a PM. I laid out some good caches but didn't bother to make them MOC. The membership around here isn't so densily populated and to make them MOC would only limit caching more. That's the great thing about this. You can make whatever you want of this. There are no limitations ... so to speak. Peace!
  20. Okay, enough of the Reviewer/Mod bashing!!! Wait, you guys aren't bashing. ... Carry on. Peace~
  21. Steeler Fan, We've come across this before. What we try to do is maintain it when we find it to keep the cache active. We'll add logs, change out containers, rehid to protect the cache, stuff like that. We don't try to adopt it but we do try to keep it active at least for the short term. ... However, I do see your point. To prevent this negligence from happening in the first place. EDIT: Spelling.
  22. Anyone who'd log their own cache ... it's like hanging a bone around your neck so the dog will play with you. What a Loser!
  23. Two Reviewer bashings in one week. Do I hear a third? Who will bid a 3rd Bashing on our beloved Reviewer? 3? Come on! Someone out there must have a 3rd bashing for the week? Surely you can muster enough of a sack to bash a brother! No? ... Okay, sold! 2 bashings this week. We're sold out. This auction is closed until next Monday. Y'all have a good week.
  24. Crusso, One way to improve caches in your area is to place 'quality' caches yourself. Give others something to shoot for. Set the example. "BE" the leader. Others will try to duplicate your efforts. You might explain what you're doing in the description as well. Peace!
