Mention your geocaching name to associate your request with a user already approved to use the Earwigo web builder.
  2. I don't know if this has ever been done before, but a local geocacher in Charlotte has just put out a new interactive cache, Shallow Esophagus. This cache requires you to visit a pay phone, send a text message and await further instructions. I have never personally seen a cache like it and would propose it make a "highlight reel" on the geocaching blog, but perhaps it's old news in other areas. If you're ever in the Charlotte area (big race this weekend!), this should definitely be on your short list!
  3. On the statistics page of a member's profile, it shows a chart for daily finds. A particular calendar date may be white (for zero finds on that day) or one of several shades of green (based on number of caches found). What I am trying to discern is how many shades (colors?) are possible on a given date and what are the minimum number of finds required to move from one color to the next? On a brief sampling of profile pages, it appears that there is a shade for single digit finds, a new shade for 10-24 finds and yet another shade for 25+. I can see that there are also additional shades of color but I can't tell what the cutoffs are. Can anyone shed some light on how the colorings are determined, or point me to a link with this information? (I apologize if this information exists, but I could not locate it in the Knowledge Base or via a forum search.)
  4. I like some of the designs that GC has offered for t-shirts and I like to wear something geocaching related when I go caching. But my preference is to wear a long sleeve tee to protect against thorns and poison ivy. I once bought a long sleeve blue tee that was on closeout here, but since then I have not seen a long sleeve tee offered. I realize summer is coming and the hot weather (I live in NC) may discourage demand, but I'm waiting patiently for the sleeves.
  5. I just downloaded "MacCaching" as a Mac alternative to GSAK, but it appears I have to generate a PQ to import first. I wonder how large a PQ I will have to create to include users with the letters/numbers I am missing??
  6. How does one go about locating caches hidden by members who's user name starts with {insert number or letter here}? I'm interested in completing an alphanumeric challenge cache, but I don't see an option for using a wild card (i.e. A*) in either a search or a PQ.
  7. Thanks menion, but my problem is that I don't know what my problem is since I have no idea how to use the app. I realize it's for offline caching (when I have no data signal), but I don't know where to begin. Do I need to download all zoom levels of a map of an area? Can I download an entire zip code or do I have to download only what I can see on my screen one screen at a time? Do I set a preference in my caching app or in Locus to use the downloaded map? Do I import PQs into Locus or maps into my caching app? When Locus is first downloaded, it says that it works with various caching apps so it would be nice if the developer could provide a step-by-step HOWTO somewhere. I can't find one if it exists.
  8. I stumbled across this map app for my Droid while reading other forum posts, but I'm not sure how to use it. My understanding is that I can use Locus to download map data to my phone so that when geocaching in an area without a data signal, I can still view a map of my surroundings. I have tried downloading data from Locus, but I can't tell if I need to download data at a specific zoom level nor how to use the downloaded files with my other geocaching apps. Can anyone explain the correct way to use this app or point me to a review of how to use it? I'll even accept a LMGTFY link if I'm just overlooking the program's home page.
  9. I set up an account with fileave.com last night to post my puzzle for GC2KV35 (not published yet). It was extremely easy although I had to skip through several "free offer" type ads which made me question whether visitors will have a nice experience or not. As a backup, I mentioned on the cache page that users should email me if they have any problems with the offsite hosting. Also, while the host's splash page claims 50 MB, my profile shows only 30 MB, but that is more than enough for what I need. Thanks again for the tip.
  10. Thanks for the suggestions. I especially appreciate the tip from cw1710 about the free hosting option as it seemed a bit excessive to purchase a monthly hosting contract for a site that only requires a couple hundred kilobytes to share.
  11. I am working on a new puzzle that incorporates JavaScript into the solution. I just realized that we can not include JavaScript in our cache web page. What are my options if I would like to make this cache available to other cachers here?
  12. where's my two dollars? actually, it's more like where's my geocaching number but who's checking!
