  1. Likewise, i went ahead and logged them. You really have to appreciate the amount of creativity and effort it took to create these. Regardless of whether or not the finds get deleted it was interesting to read some of the cache pages. (I suspect that they will.) I was also hoping for a souvenir after logging them all but that didn't happen.
  2. Have looked at this one from time to time but haven't gone into Camden to look for it. Maybe I'll give it a shot the next time I'm through there. Can't promise anything and it may be a couple weeks but I will post something if I do go.
  3. Hasn't this topic been covered enough?
  4. The most I've ever found was a $10 gift certificate to a local ice cream shop. Boy, were those milkshakes good after a long day of caching. $20 seems a little much to leave as an FTF prize unless it's a cache that will take quite a bit of work to get to but if more hiders were that generous I might be more active in going after FTFs.
  5. This has to be my favorite series of logs, locally, relating to this thread. The find on 9/3/14 was logged by cachers with over 10,000 finds. Nothing really surprises me with this game any more. 06/29/14 (Find) Awesome find with my KRP. "Ain't no river wide enough". Great hide & container! Thanks! 07/17/14 (DNF) very difficult 07/20/14 (DNF) No luck today. 07/20/14 (DNF) Did not find. Any chance it's been removed from the spot? 08/30/14 (DNF) I think it may be gone 09/03/14 (Find) TFTC 10/17/14 (DNF - Mine) Know I was in the right spot. Let's just say I'm skeptical about the found it log after the string of DNFs. The CO should check in this one. 12/30/14 (Note) Not there. 12/30/14 (DNF) Checked holes in rock with hiking stick, empty 12/30/14 (Note from CO) I will investigate tomorrow (12/31) and replace with a spare if necessary 12/31/14 (Owner Maintenance) I replaced the cache
  6. My son and I attended our first Block Party this year and had a great time. We enjoyed getting to meet some of the Lackeys and to sightsee around Seattle. The location is what makes this event special. It’s not so much getting the special icon as it is meeting the Groundspeak people in their home town. You get to see how much this game means to the people that work there. Yes, there are plenty of mega events around the world but what makes this one special is that it is at the Lilypad. It just wouldn’t be the same if it were someplace else.
  7. If the OP has some doubts, why not just book the cruise with a travel agent near them or they could just do it online and b on the same ship as the tour planner.
  8. I made the effort to finish filling in the calendar days with the last ones to fill in this past October. It really started to feel like a job and I wasn't enjoying it as much. Now, i go out when I want and find as many or as few as I want to. My longest find streak is only 14 days and it probably won't ever get any longer.
  9. I had that happen to a TB of mine. The finder attached a new item to it and it's been moving around Europe for sometime now. I changed the trackable's page to reflect the item it's attached to and all's been good with it.
  10. Guess I don't understand Ma & Pa's comment. What difference is where I'm from have to do with it? My point here is that in order to do 800 caches in 12 hours, you have to average more than 1 cache per minute. It will take at least 1 minute just to drive the .1 mile between. Then add the time it takes to get out of the vehicle, walk to the cache, open the container, sign the log and put back. It's simple math. Yes, I know the numbers hounds won't agree with me but I'm one of those cachers that would rather find a half dozen well done caches than a hundred under matching piles of rocks.
  11. Noticed that a group of 5 geocachers from my area claim to have done 800 caches along Route 66 in California in about 12 hours. I don't believe it as you'd have to average more than one cache per minute with no breaks for anything. Even with multiple cars, I doubt that it was done.
  12. As another South Jersey cacher, I've found many caches where the travel bugs are not there. I've decided that if I find a travel bug or coin in a cache I will take it and try to drop it in a cache that's not easily accessed by the newbie or casual cacher.
  13. We found Lana Lang today. She's located on Lois Lane.
  14. We also have seen that type of multi. You had to retrieve a key from the first stage in order to open the second stage. Really was not a fan of it.
  15. Our first time was on Mackinac Island when we were very new at geocaching. With over 1800 finds now, we've run into familiar faces and new ones fairly often. We've learned to quickly recognize when someone's caching and it's always been fun.
  16. To FTF or not to FTF is the question? There are two or three cachers in this area that log almost all of the FTF's. We decided, a long time ago, not to chase them and still have managed to log some. For us, the FTF's happen more by circumstance than anything. If we're in the area when a new one pops up then we might go. Otherwise, we'll let someone else verify that tha coords are good and that a cache is really there. Just to second Lamoracke's post, we have a puzzle cache that went about six weeks before someone found it. It's been out about 1 1/2 years and only has 11 finds. We've given out clues to a few cachers when asked but really hate to do that. Didn't think the puzzle was all that tough when we came up with it but it has discouraged the FTF hounds from finding it. We just think everyone plays the game the way they want to.
  17. Recently did a puzzle cache where you had to gather the info from a very nice monument. Figured it out only to discover that the cache itself was a LPC.
  18. I see that I've gotten a few reactions to my post on this topic. I just equate this cache location as to driving to or walking to a cache location and discovering that the area is posted. I've done that a few times and have posted NA logs or contacted the CO about it. For example, I pulled off a highway about a month ago near here. Saw a Private Property sign less than 100 feet from where my GPS was showing the cache location. Got back in my car and left. Posted a NA note on the cache page and the CO archived it shortly after. I feel that in any of those instances the less time spent there the better and I will leave without searching for the cache. I don't need another smiley that bad and I'd like to be able to help keep this game safe for everyone.
  19. I just think it's hypocritical to post a find and then post a NA because you object to the location. You can't have it both ways. There are more than enough caches out there for anyone to ignore one in a questionable location. Personally, I probably wouldn't look for the one in question because of the location.
  20. I don't really think there are multi-caches that are "too far". If someone doesn't want to try it, oh well. I know of a multi here in southern New Jersey that involves about 300 miles of driving. Definitely not for everyone but quite an accomplishment if you do finish it. I started it last year and just haven't had the opportunity to progress with it. Maybe someday.
  21. I've officially given up on buying any more trackables to release. I've put out 15 in the past two years and only 4 are shown in caches, the rest in the hands of a cacher, some for over 6 months. Most of these are newbies with less than 100 finds. I know we were all newbies but we didn't take anything from a cache for the first few months. Actually took the time to learn what to do with these and have logged over 100. Wish more people would be considerate and understand that these TB's are not theirs for the taking.
  22. Sounds like a multi to me. I did one similar in Philadelphia a couple weeks ago. First stage was an Altoids tin with a key inside. You had to figure out what in the area had to be opened with that key to get the log. I thought it was very clever.
  23. Maybe we'll spot your car sometime. I'm just surprised that the cache at Stockton gets so few attempts. We found it last year and it just takes some bushwhacking to get to. Thought it was a lot of fun.
  24. A reporter was standing right at GZ of one of our caches during Hurricane Irene. We evacuated to a hotel in Philadelphia and watched him on television. Glad to report that our cache survived the hurricane.
  25. Felt that I have to post on this thread also as we were the last ones to find this before it got archived. While we appreciated the history behind this cache, all things must come to an end. That's just the way of the world. Otherwise, the A.P.E. caches would still be active, new virtuals and new locationless would still be allowed. Actually met a cacher at a Leap Day event that had logged the A.P.E. cache that was in Maryland. Got in the game a little late for those but still enjoy what geocaching is about. If you want to place a new cache in that library, please do since the staff seems amenable to it and you'll get hundreds of people to go back to find it. We haven't been back since it closed for renovations and would gladly welcome a new cache there.
