  1. Found this thread bacause I have the same question.. Recent activity makes sense on my TBs page...
  2. Well... You want me to answer my own question... Guess I wouldn't have asked it if I wasn't uneasy about logging the find. The cache was hidden by the group. Then it was not approved for safety reasons and had to be moved. It was moved by a member of the event, and the new coords emailed to me. Since I was the event organizer, I also posted the cache, but listed it as being placed by nmgeocaching.com. I am however the cache owner as far as the site is concerned... I will delete my find... Thanks for everyone's input.
  3. I am actually talking about the cache we placed at the end of the event.
  4. I just participated in a CITO event, and with the Cache In part, the group that cleaned up placed a cache. We signed the log book, and once the cache posted, all who were there claimed the find. The cacher who was the FTF after it posted asked the question if we should claim the find if we placed it. If none of us could log the find, 1/2 of Albuquerque/Los Lunas cachers could not log the find. I also think there should be some reward for all the hard work and great items put into it. It was a group hide, rather than an individual hide. It wasn't like the ones who logged the find did not have to go through the driving and effort anyway. I don’t log finds on my personal caches, but I see this as a group cache, rather than belonging to one individual. There has already been more than one geocacher involved in the maintenance. However, I think they are correct in claiming the FTF since they are the ones that high tailed it to the cache once it listed! There's my $0.02, what's yours?
  5. Seems everyone was out of stock for the $75.00. Found it for $77.00 shipped on ebay and bought it. If anyone is interested: http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-MAGELLAN-MAPSEND-D...1QQcmdZViewItem
  6. I am looking for a copy of Mapsend direct route. Best price I can find online is $75 dollars shipped. Anyone match or beat it?
  7. I got my 500 from Comp-U-Plus yesterday. Everything seemed to be fine until I installed a SD card, then it wouldn't power up. I put it in my friends Meridian Color and it worked fine. I put his card in my 500 and again it wouldn't power on. Sent an email to Comp-U-Plus. I will let you know how it works out. Did you get your unit back yet? Did they make you pay to ship it back? Edited for spelling and added quote.
  8. Sure wish this thread was here on the 14th when I bought the explorist500 from the same dealer. I will report back on how mine works.... At least it is already shipped so they don't just send me yours..
  9. I noticed that with my Sportrack Map. And the slingshot effect. Good to know it is not just me. Thanks for all the advise!
  10. I am looking at purchasing a Meridian Color since it has the SD card capability and is far less expensive then the anticipated Garmin X series units. Does anyone have any experience with the Meridian so I know of its dependability? (I tried to find a thread on this, but got tired of it after the 10th page, and the search feature is currently down. Sorry if this is a repost.)
  11. I recently placed 4 caches with a friend. His complaint is that he cannot go to "His Caches" and and go to the cache page quickly. He has to go to caches hidden by me. Ha also is unable to edit the cache page and has no other administrative options to the cache. IMHO I think that the name placed as cache owner should match a GC username, and give an area for both users for not only credit but administrative purposes. Unfortunatly people are judged when you click on there profile and they have several hundred finds with no hides. (cuz I do it too...)
  12. Looks like I was searching in the wrong area... Thanks for the post. I will add my 2 cents there...
  13. I'm sure this issue has probably already come up, but I have searched the forums extensively for "multiple cache owners", "cache owners", "multiple cache", etc. and could not find this particular question. A friend of mine and I worked very hard together in placing a 4 caches. Since I had th most cache posting experience of the two, I posted the caches and put us both as cache owners. It was then that I noticed that the name that I enter does not have to be my, or anybody elses username. Shouldn't the owner name have to match a user account? My friend would also like these caches to show up on the "My Caches" section. I think it would be great to be able to both show ownership, and be contacted if necessary.
  14. I am looking to purchase a used copy of Mapsend Streets, USA for my Magellan SportTrak Map. If anyone has it and no longer needs it, please let me know. Ryan
  15. Looks like some great opinions for and against. I will continue my reading. Thanks for the enlightenment.
  16. I had an idea about having a new type of cache listing. It could be called Travel Bug Hotels, with a hotel icon. People could actually label these as such and make them easier for travelers to find them before heading out on trips. The requirement would be that it needs to be a regular or large cache, and needs to be located withing one mile of an interstate or US highway. Sure would make moving bugs during my trip next month a lot easier.
  17. Where do you get things like that? I like the idea, and my kids (ok and I) would like finding something like that...
