  1. No, I wouldnt call it outrage, its more one of curiosity based on my understanding of the guidelines. I suppose I may have asked questions about that one too... but it wasnt listed as a PMO event.
  2. Hmm... works for me. Try this one GC1KHK4. If that one doesnt work, just look it up via its waypoint name.
  3. I guess I am reading the guidelines a bit too literally. Of all the PMO things I have seen, this was the first time I saw an event listed that way.
  4. I thought per GC guidelines, events were supposed to be open to everybody? Event Caches Event caches are gatherings that are open to all geocachers and which are organized by geocachers. While a music concert, a garage sale, an organized sporting event, a ham radio field day or a town’s fireworks display might be of interest to a large percentage of geocachers, such events are not suitable for submission as event caches because the organizers and the primary attendees are not geocachers. In addition, an event cache should not be set up for the sole purpose of drawing together cachers for an organized hunt of another cache or caches. Such group hunts are best organized using the forums or an email distribution list. So how did this event get approved when its flagged members only?
  5. I have found - with rare exception - that caches rated a 1/1 are anything but. I have almost gotten to the point where I wont look for a cache if its rated 1/1 due to them being next to impossible to find. The few 1/1 caches that I have gone back and eventually found were more like 2.5 to 3.5 in difficulty.
  6. PS These "same" stickers have appeared in multiple cities/jurisdictions. Unless this is a state agency that is doing this, its odd that all these cities would have the same stickers.
  7. This is someone who has a grudge against caching. These stickers have been appearing up and down the I17 and Route 60 Corridor. Some of the caches are open - all welcome, others are members only. Who ever this person is, they have a premium membership. Some of the local cachers talked with some of the LEOs they know and were informed that the LEOs would not do something like or otherwise be involved - unless it was place somwhere it really should be, like on a bridge. If you look at the sticker, it actually violates the very ordinance it is proclaiming. You will also notice that there is absolutely no contact information regarding the entity that is placing it. I also noticed that while the verbiage is the same, the size/style/color of the sticker is a bit different from some of the earlier stickers that have appeared in the area. I am guessing that someone doesnt like caching / has a grudge and feels the need to "get even" / or is perhaps building up their inventory of cache goodies/containers so they can put out their own "uber" cache. For the cache owners that have been hit, it would be a simple call to your local LEOs and see if they have been doing this. If so, that settles it. If not, see the above, replace the cache and enjoy the hunt.
  8. Which puzzle is it? While I do puzzle caches here in AZ, I dont think I have come across this particular puzzle. And no, I dont think I would be downloading files.
  9. I've had people ask why I didnt answer their emails and vice-versa. While a pattern cant be pinned down, there are times - for whatever reason - when an email sent via geocaching.com just doesntt make it to the intended recipient.
  10. Sounds like a good idea to me too. I already do something similar on my GPSr. Using the info found HERE and HERE, my GPSr now uses the same symbols as seen on the geocaching.com map pages - complete with a frownie for those caches I couldnt find.
  11. I have been caching on/off for the past several years. It wasnt until this past fall (Dec) that I really got serious about caching. According to GSAK, I should hit 1000 by 10/05/08. In reality, I am planning on hitting 1000 in early September.
  12. Thanks for the quick fix. I just tested it out and everything loads perfectly.
  13. I just upgraded to the latest version of the macro. The various databases that I select for exporting to the Nuvi complete without issue. When I go to actually load them via POI Loader, I get an error saying my Red Light and Speed camera Tourguide.gpx file is invalid. I have tried completely deleting the old files and regenerating them - same end result. The other geocache databases export/load with no problems. This error started after upgrading to the latest version of the macro. Has anyone else run into this? If so, what is the fix?
  14. Ack! Dont leave us hanging... what interesting thing happens?
  15. As Azcachemeister has said, I too find that hot water - as hot as you can stand it - will provide some hours of itch relief.
  16. Oops. My bad. I had POI loader pointed at the directory that contained caches to be found. I moved it up one level and all is good now.
  17. I have loaded the red light and speed camera info into gsak. I then loaded them to my Nuvi. When I check the nuvi, I dont see them. Should I see a Custom POI for the cameras like I do for the various cache types? Or... how can I verify that the camera info is loaded?
  18. Well... I did say I resized them. I will have to work on creating them at that size instead of a resize.
  19. Hmm.... did you send to my email address directly or thru geocaching.com? I have had problems in the past where mail thru gc.com never makes it to me. As for the PM - where/how did you send that? I havent received that either. try emailing me directly - bypass gc.com. sbrews at yahoo dot com.
  20. jjreds - did you send the PM yet? If so, I have not received anything.
  21. jjreds - awhile back you asked if anyone was willing to work on 22x22 icons as they currently appear on the geocaching site. While I didnt create new ones, I did take the existing and resized them to 22x22 from 16x16. They look ok. If you are interested in them, let me know where to send them. skraeling
  22. Changing that value to True generates and error when the macro is run. So until I have some more time to poke at it, I put the icons I want in place and modified the macro to not clean those up (but left the other cleanups in place).
  23. jjreds - I love the latest version of this macro. I was wondering, however, how I could change the icons that that are being used. I found other icons that I use with my GPSmap 60CS and would like to use them with this macro too - without having to manually drop them in each time. The icons I am refering to can be found in THIS zip file - specifically the "Symbols - 60 Series" folder.
  24. If you are thinking of geocaching with a Nuvi, you really should check out this thread
  25. jjreds - cool macros. I was thinking of how I could combine those, but didnt really have the time to seriously work on it. I will test it out this weekend and see if the Tourguide part is working or not.
