  1. And the next one. This spot is on telly every Saturday night, if you're quick enough to spot it. Bonus points if you can tell me what program.
  2. Took a while to work out. I spent ages looking at larger places along the west coast line. GC2JC8Y Rhubarb Rhubarb and GC2N5WM Underground Vent Larger Map
  3. Taken near Ingleton, on nice round walk that took in GC1DGBG. Oh, its pointed at leedsIngleborough
  4. Saltaire is a good starting point for a few caching trips and dead easy to get to from leeds. Shipley Glen & Baildon moor are but a short walk. Lovely walks along the canal & river (River Walk series) through Hirst Wood. And there's Salt's old house, Milner Fields, hidden in the woods on the opposite side of the river from Saltaire. Plenty of places to have a cuppa when you get back too and there's even a pub in Saltaire now. Shocking!
  5. Now it might be WAY off-topic, but that is about the funniest thing I've read on t'internet for a long time. Well done that man! You obviously have a lot of time though. After the 3rd similar call of the night, they got a very terse anglo-saxon two word response from me.
  6. Not complaining, but talk about micro overload! Some tricky ones, but there were a couple of micros hidden where you could reasonably get a regular without any problems. With children, its the treasure they're after (however rubbish it might really be!) Milling About at Cayton Bay might be your best bet. Ahh. Just realised the date.
  7. Another one to throw into the mix is Trekbuddy. Excellent for caching out of mobile coverage as everything (caches, maps, notes etc) is stored on your phone. Mobile Atlas Creator is a necessary desktop companion for it. The latest version has removed the ability to use OS maps, at the request of the OS. Bit of a pain. The GCtour greasemonkey add-on is also very useful.
  8. We're over that way next week. The week is already booking up with people to visit/visiting. Any 'must do' caches over that way, particularly child-friendly ones? We're staying at Cayton Bay, so anything that'll get us out of there will be a HUGE plus!
  9. Hmmmm. A few caches have gone in the Kendal area recently, all have had similar disappearances. The container gone, but the log left and a note added. Possibly all the same person. Notes have said something along the lines of 'How sad'. But of course, far less sad than that kind of behaviour. Something to be said about awkward puzzles - far less likely to be muggled like this because it takes a bit of effort to find them. So most of your caches should be fine!
  10. Oops! Seems like a rather fundamental design flaw that putting the wheel on wrong makes it go backwards. If that's the case, it should be 'handed'. Also, I thought electric bikes drove the back wheel, so why would putting the front wheel on wrong change the polarity of the motor? But an amusing story all the same. I'm sure all of us who cycle a bit will have similar stories of knowing what's about to happen and being able to do sod all about it! At least there wasn't a pack of wild dogs around to add to your troubles.
  11. Many pubs and restaurants have free wifi - MacDonalds already mentioned., I think Starbucks, Costa coffee and Weatherspoons pubs generally do. But the speed tends to be rather limited. You could buy a dongle to plug into a USB port with a set allowance - see here. An alternative is a MiFi-type thing. Another alternative might be to get a one-month contract Sim-only deal. GiffGaff are a pretty good value sim-only supplier. But this option would need an unlocked iPhone.
  12. Longest sentence with only one word? Marriage. Bit behind, I know, but I couldn't let it go. As for the latest question, I'm not suggesting he's the best in the world ever, but Fernando Alonso?
  13. Just a quick bump to remind everyone of the potentially great resource at Geocache Tourist. Written by cachers for cachers. At the moment there's good coverage of The Northwest and Southeast. I've written one article and that's my sole connection with the site. Come on people in Yorkshire, Wales, Scotland, Southwest, Midlands, Northeast. Get a short article written about where you live, giving people from outside the area ideas what are the BEST caches in your area.
  14. According to my wife's Aussie great aunt, 'Going to Africa' is their equivalent of nipping behind a bush Our daughters love the phrase.
  15. Excellent! Seems to work fine on Win XP Firefox 4
  16. Probably not down to the GPS then I once went looking for a cache and was confused by the distance to the cache not reducing as I marched in the direction of the arrow. Eventually I twigged it was showing (a few hundred) km rather than m to the cache and I'd transposed W and E. Close to Greenwich, the error wouldn't be so obvious.
  17. You'll be a while then. (caches within 5 miles) Have a wander over to the NorthWest Caching forum for some friendly Local banter for Local People.
  18. Glad you found the stock ghyll force cache after the one on the Glebe at Bowness. Rather contrasting caches. That one on the glebe is not particularly good compared to most others in the area.
  19. I've not got the coordinates for hiding a cache using a phone. But I've used Trekbuddyon an android phone for finding them. That'll do waypoint averaging. And as a bonus, you can load GPX files into it and get them plotted on an offline map, if you use Mobile Atlas Creator. I've just noticed that it'll no longer get OS maps though.
  20. No bridge, but don't you thnk it's just crying out for a functional concrete one like at Thelwall? Actually, there are a few bridges in the view, just not obviously visible. Castlehead, Keswick
  21. Hello! The Log Maximizer script appears to be behaving oddly. The Submit Log Entry button is greyed out. On 3 PCs using firefox 4, all show the same behaviour. I'm not sure whether this started following upgrade to Firefox 4 or not, as I've only just noticed after not having done many caches over the last few months. As far as I can tell, I'm using the latest version (0.2.94 according to greasemonkey, but the website says 0.6.4) Here's a screendump of the effect. Oops - resized picture.
