  1. My wife & I were shopping and my phone sounds off with a notification of a newly published cache not far away from the store we were in. We left shopping cart and all right where it was and went immediately to the new cache and we were FTF. Inside was a very nice antique broach. We figured it was a FTF prize so we took it after signing log. A few hours later we get an Email from the cache owner introducing himself. He was a college student at one of the universities in town. He also added that he did not think that there would be any other geocachers in this town (lol, little did he know!). He was at an antique store here in town with his girlfriend and noticed that she especially loved a broach there. Later when she was not with him he went back and bought that broach for her. He was planning on having his girlfriend be the FTF for his first hidden cache. After hearing his plea to get the broach back, my wife & I (being newly weds ourselves) did give the broach back to the young man.
  2. Our dog tag trackables are sent out into this wide vast world and we don't expect to see them again. Our geocoins mean something to us and we hang on to them. We'll show them at events or to close friends (and new friends) and are meant to be Discovered only. It's up to you, just remember that what you send out could get lost or stolen.
  3. Is there a Navigate To... button? I don't use Blackberry Curve or CacheSense app. My wife & I use iPhone 5.0 and the geocaching.com app.
  4. We have one on our property and when we get notified of any activity we check it out to make sure trackables are in there. When wife & I go on a road trip then we'll pick up all of the trackables and drop them off in caches along the way. For any that we find on the road trip we might bring them back to our TB motel for the locals to pick up and move on.
  5. Is it a pathtag? Pathtags have seven digits and no letters.
  6. One time not too long ago I checked a TB motel on our property in Abilene, TX and was surprised to see a geocoin since we were not notified of any activity on our cache. I put in the trackable number and the geocoin was listed to be in a cache in Hawaii. Hopefully I got it straightened out after contacting the TB owner. Still don't know how it got to Texas though.
  7. You may need to contact the the TB owners and let them know what happened. You can ask them for the trackable numbers.
  8. If I were going to Seattle then I would definitely stop by Geocaching Headquarters (GCK25B).
  9. My wife & I boh use iPhone 5 and it is supposed to be accurate up to 16' most of the time but if there are electric wires around sometimes it will bounce like that. We have also had problems on cloudy days. It is best to do as ngrrfan suggest and start developing your "geo-sense" and not rely on gadgets. As I am looking for a cache I am asking myself, "Where would I place a cache? What looks out of place or looks different?".
  10. Two friends of my wife & mine told us about geocaching back in 2008 and we just more or less blew it off. Two years later we are camping out with these same two friends and wife & I invited the other couple to go hiking with us. We like to go hiking off the beaten trail. Our friends said that they would love to go hiking with us but asked if we minded if they looked for some geocaches along the way that were in the park. We told them, "Sure, bring your gadget". Wife & I both got bit by the geocache bug that day. We became Members as soon as we got home from camping. Three years after signing up with geocaching.com we both still love going out hunting. As of date we've already have found every active caches within 30 miles of our house, completed the Jasmer Challenge, gotten all of the 81 Grid, found a cache on all 366 Days and 366 Placed Dates, have found geocaches in all 254 counties in Texas and all 77 counties in Oklahoma. Currently we are working to get all the counties in Kansas and Tennessee. Our friends have mentioned several times that they've created a monster, lol.
  11. What is the name of this macro? Sounds like something I need to get to know how to use. AddFromBookmarkList.gsk Thanks Don
  12. I gotta admit that I've never come across that spelling until now.
  13. What is the name of this macro? Sounds like something I need to get to know how to use.
  14. Thanks! I am very new with GSAK so will see what kind of trouble I can get into with GSAK, haha. I do remember seeing GSAK 101 Classes as Events a few years ago and was watching for another class but after reading several Forums topics have found out that they are no longer allowed.
  15. I don't see how I can set up a Pocket Query on our Found caches that are located in cemeteries.
  16. I sure didn't. I've already started that list again but it sure is gonna take a long time to read each of our found cache description to find them all again. There should be a way to lock various bookmark list so that it is not easily deleted. Oh well, live and learn.
  17. I just accidentily deleted a Bookmark List that I was keeping of all of the cemetery caches that we have found. Is there anyway to reclaim this list or do I have to start all over?
  18. Just downloaded this app and will check it out in the next few days. Thanks for your putting this app out for the geocaching community.
  19. Voted for Geocaching. Who knows we may make it up there from Texas one of these days.
  20. That Multi-Cache sure does sound interesting. Too bad we cannot help on the stages outside of Texas.
  21. My wife & I are from Abilene and we have been geocaching for three years now. My favorite cache is being able to sign the log for the Texas County Challenge. We got to see a whole lot of Texas that would not have happened were it not for doing this challenge. Not too many folks can say that they've been in all 254 counties of Texas. We do prefer the more rural caches over urban caches and we love the creative type of caches that are "home-made" and blend very well with the surroundings.
  22. I am all for having the challenge caches breaking away from puzzle caches. My wife & I love doing challenge caches wherever we travel but when we run a query to find them we have to "cull" out the puzzle caches. We are seeing more and more challenge caches being published.
