351 finds!
The horror! "A 6" round container buried in the ground. Only the lid is exposed"
BURIED!
lol
It was buried before the guidelines prohibited it, I guess.
Nice hide, and it's so desolate (exception being I-70 about 100 feet away) you wouldn't expect to find a cache out there.

After reading a couple issues of QST today in biology, learning CW seems a bit easier for some reason.... I think it would be worth learning just for DX. Oh well, I won't complain when/if the requirement is dropped.

Well, sure, but it worked My post was more to the guy posting after him to lighten up a tiny bit, someone posting a pointless reply (much like this one and yours, also) is really not a big problem.
But to stay on topic, so noone will yell at me, where do you get/ what is that foam stuff?
I got pissed because that wasn't the first time he had posted and said nothing.
If you're talking about expanding foam, you can get the 2 part stuff from www.uscomposites.com (in large quantities, but it's the good stuff that won't expand with moisture/heat) or you can get the canned stuff (can expand with moisture/heat) at Home Depot/Lowes/Etc.

..
What's your freakin' point? If you're not going to post anything with a point, don't post.
On topic, I've seen a cache similar to one posted earlier-a magnet, paper on the back, numbers on the front, stuck to a sprinkler control. Only reason I found it is the owner walked up while I was poking around at the site

So...
Without venturing into the turmoil at QRZ-
Where is this idea standing? Has the FCC done anything yet?
Thanks,

I know there are several scripts available online for Greasemonkey that work on Geocaching.com, however some of you may write your own. If you do, please post them here for everyone to use
(mods, move/delete this if it isn't appropriate.)

There should be a choice for login name. My placed caches are flagged.

I get blank pages while powerbrowsing the forums on 26k. On my 50k computer, nothing like that happens.

There are plenty of 5 star rated caches, and even some 3 stars that can be considered dangerous. Recently a crew of myself and 3 other cachers went to Erie, Pennsylvania to do a cache called "Pray For Daylight" To summarize, we never got to the cache, had a wild ride on the way out, and could have very easily died at a drop off towards the end. You can check out the last 4 logs and read about the experience and then share a few of your own. I just want to make sure we are not the only ones who experienced a "Close call" while caching.
Lookin forward to hearing some good stories.

Wow, nice story! In a sick, twisted way, that sounds like fun, except for the bruises, cuts, and general injuries.
Closest to death I've been while caching is a skinned knee

In my pocket when walking and in my hand when approaching a cache.
Since I use an Etrex Legend it has to be parallel to the ground and face up if the internal antenna is being used.
When I use the reradiating antenna I can carry it any old way I please.
you can attach an antenna to the legend?!?
Yes and no. You cannot DIRECTLY use an external antenna with an etrex, but they wsell reradiating antennas that receive a signal and retransmit it at low power (signal only goes a few feet) so you can hold the GPSr any which way and get good accuracy.

The Kansas Stasher owns the oldest active geocache, placed 5-7-00 IIRC.

That pack looks really nice, where'd you get it?

How about a cache using black light? It seems you could lay out coords to a multi just about anywhere and have cachers use a battery powered black light to read the coords. It could be a cool variation for a night cache.
I'm sure the specialized equipment would keep the numbers down though.
That is in my plans for a future cache. Using invisible paint (only visible via UV light) to mark coords. Another handy use for the UV light is to mark your own caches. Suppose your cache turns up missing (overgrown vegetatio, etc), you can use the UV light to re-find your cache.
Does anyone have the schematics for making a blinking LED set-up for caches. I'm not talking about the sill party LEDS for your shirts, I want to make one using a 9 volt battery.
Wouldn't you be worried about the amount of UV light emitted from the sun exposing the paint?
Has anyone thought of using APRS for a cache hide? APRS=Automatic position Reporting System Of course this is a HAM radio thing but you do not need a license to recieve signals... I think you could adapt it somewhatSomeone has done this, they put a cache in the back of their truck and put a 2m APRS rig in it. The coordinates could be found at findu.com, but the cache was archived.

Home coordinates aren't. If you were to put them in your biography or interests, they would, but otherwise no.

GCMYC1 is VERY near the Governor's Mansion in Topeka, KS.

You sure you're logged in?

I *might* buy 3 or 4. Would these be a limited run only?

If we were to start a net, I would do it on 80 meter, it is the best for a wide area, as in multistate, if you want to do a local, get permission from a local repeater group and schedule a time and post it.
But for Geocaching, I would probably go with the 80 meter route, since there are NOT that many of us that do both, so the wider the area you can cover the better.
Only problem is that generals and above have access to 80 meter.
EchoLink is good (even better, no propagation conditions to worry about) for this purpose than 80m, and it includes us techies. Besides, we all have computers
Yes, Dr, I can get into *some* reflectors on EchoLink (I believe), however there is not a Denver one. If you were to do a local net, though, I can connect to a few Denver repeaters.
Well, I spoke to the OP on 2 meters the other night, Washington to Colorado...I thought you used IRLP...
I talked to Dr on 2m 400 miles away too... Well, 2m on HIS end

The owner should be banished form geocaching. He obviously has no regard for mankind.
Is banishing yourself considered geocide?
-
Yeah, but then that ruins the suprise.
I wouldn't be annoyed if it were local, as someone else has said, but if I were visiting, yes, I would be pissed off.
-
Yeah, that would be good.
