Ok, I got the logging to work-manually entering the logs, that is-but how do I do it with cachemate? How can I find my backup file? There are so many files in my computer backup folder, I can't find the cachemate backup. The only cachemate thing is the .prc file.

You can get the same bracket (I think) with the bike mount kit.

You can only log caches at gc.com if you are logged in under your account. So you before you try to use this feature or any macro that does semi automatic logging, make sure have have logged in to gc.com using your name and password. I'm always cookied on geocaching.com. Maybe it was opening in Netscape and I wasn't paying attention, will look tomorrow when I can get on the other computer.

I'm using the CacheMateLog macro now. I have a BUNCH of backup files in my hotsync folder;which one do I want? When I try to specify the database I want (NE Kansas, which is the one I have in Cachemate), it says that database doesn't exist. Oh, and is it possible to set the "Open in browser (online or offline)" command to open the page in a new tab in Firefox? The command for a new tab is Ctrl+t.

If it's not too much of a PITA- Can someone give me a tutorial on how to use CM2GPX to import logs into GSAK? I can't figure out how to a) run cm2gpx on the command line (never works) and get the logs on the computer. Do I need to save logs in Memo Pad? Also, in v6 (not installed the maintenance update yet), I'd type out a log in the notes section of a cache, then hit "Log Cache" and the geocaching.com site would come up telling me I needed to specify a cache. I'm talking about converting the coordinate format. S&T only has DMS and decimal degrees formats, and I'd like to be able to convert a cache listing (or several listings) to decimal degrees, instead of HDDD MM.MMM.

Caution: stupid question ahead. Would it be possible to include a coordinate converter on the next release of GSAK? I'm planning a caching trip in a week, and caches keep popping up close to the route I have set up in S&T. I'd take off the data, make a new csv file in GSAK, then put it back on S&T, but then I lose all my route data. I'd go online, but I can't seem to find the sit ei was using to convert earlier, since jeeep only does DMS. Or does GSAK already include this? Thanks, Blue

Cachemate is a database program for caches that you can search to find a cache, it contains hints, descriptions, and the past 5 logs. There's a companion program for it called CacheNav (I think), you use it to interface your PDA with your GPSr and it can display what's on your GPS screen (the arrow, at least), and you can switch from the gps mode to the cache info at any time. It sounds like a neat program that I might try.

Ok... 2 options. Expensive- Buy a Palm (Zire 21 is about $60 from Amazon), get cachemate ($8), download/buy GSAK (you get a full version for 21 days, then a bunch of nag screens), load a .gpx file of the caches you want (or multiple gpx files), and go to file-export-Cachemate PDB file, choose "Install at next hotsync operation". It'll convert, then some window will pop up confirming that it will be installed. Hotsync the PDA. Wala. Or, you can use the condensed print option in GSAK (html view), reduce the text size to 8 or so, then fiddle with the "pages per sheet" option on your printer (using the "print confirm" or whatever the screen is that pops up when you tell it to print), I set this to 2. Put one sheet in your printer, and print both sides of it. If you don't do it right, it will be a PITA to read if you put the pages in a notebook. I got about 10 or more caches per sheet this way.
