  1. My computer keeps telling me that Garmin Communicator plug-in is not detected. Still can't get the Pocket Query downloaded. Any suggestions?
  2. Can't load the pocket query to my Oregon 200. What is the easiest way?
  3. I'll take it!! I am going to try and get my brother into caching.
  4. I have noticed that ebay has new a Garmin Oregon 200 model for less than $300. I recently bought one and love it.
  5. I have a Magellan Explorist 500LE for sale. It comes with two lithium ion batteries, 2GB SD card, car charger, house charger, wrist strap, Mapsend Directroute CD's, handlebar mount, car dashboard mount, "AAA" battery adapter, usb cable, and a Zagg screen protector installed. The Mapsend CD's were $55 alone. I need to get $130 including shipping. It is in excellent shape, I bought a Garmin Oregon so I am getting rid of the Magellan. I can email pictures if you want to see it.
  6. Thanks for the replies to my post about loading the Mapsend Directroute to a Magellan explorist 500LE. I think it downloads but I can't seem to find it in the gps'r. I look in preferences then active setup. I choose "sd card", "up one level", "detail maps" and about every choice my gps gives me but still can't find the map I thought I just downloaded. I have Windows XP and a 2GB Sandisk brand card. I saw a "card reader" at Walmart, do I need one of these? I have the gps hooked up to the computer with the card in the gps. I tried to save it to the hard drive but that didn't work out either. I think it is time to sell to someone who can figure this out....
  7. I tried to download a few map again. As far as I know, they did download ok but I can't seem to find them in the Magellan. I tried "preferences" then "active setup" and then tried "detail00". It didn't work, I went from choices- sd card, up one level, basemap and a few others but it never showed up. Maybe it didn't actually download???
  8. I bought the Mapsend directroute but it doesn't list the explorist series on the cd case. Can it still be installed on my Magellan explorist 500 LE? I tried but didn't get much accomplished. Maybe there is another way??
  9. I have a Garmin emap and the cigarette lighter power cord for sale. It is in decent shape and works fine. The cord will also work on a Legend. I tried it on one that I had and it worked. $25 shipping to the lower 48 and I'll throw in the emap and cord for free! Can be used for geocaching too.
  10. Is there someone who makes a protective case for the Oregon and still allows access to the screen?
  11. I'm interested if it isn't sold yet. I can do PayPal.
  12. If McKee doesn't want it, I'll definately take it. Oh, sorry, I need the street maps.
  13. What is the difference between the Garmin Legend hcx and the cx? Besides about $70... I had been considering the Delorme PN 20 but I know Garmin gives better support and is easier to work with geocaching.com. I figured I would buy the Garmin and the Streetmap CD.
  14. This is a three disc set. How do I convert the files?
  15. On the cd case, it does not list the Explorist model. I contacted the company about a refund or trade.
  16. I bought the Mapsend Topo for my Magellan explorist 500. I downloaded a few maps of Arizona and West Virginia onto an SD card. Now I can't find them in my gps'r. I have tried but just don't know where they are in the Magellan, if they downloaded at all. I followed the instructions that came with the Mapsend cd's. Any help? Besides telling me to trash the Magellan and get some other brand.
  17. How good is the street detail. Does it have most side streets and not just major roads on it? Anyone know where I can check out some screen shots of a gps with this software on it?
  18. After dealing with the process of downloading caches into my Magellan Explorist, I have thought about buying a Delorme PN 20. How is geocaching data downloaded into the unit and is it a complicated process for someone who is not a computer genius. Amazon has it for $149.99, and free shipping. The PN 40 is out of the price range. I want the PN 20 for the satellite and aerial imagery to use while geocaching.
  19. I have a Garmin Legend that I bought on the forum a few weeks ago for $60, I can sell you for $45. Works fine, I just finally figured out how to use my Magellan. I just put a screen protector on it too.
  20. On your poi screen, when you pick from the choices of My poi's, geocache pts or background maps, pick geocache pt. Before you pick this choice though, go to the bottom of the screen and move the joystick left or right to highlite "nearest". Then pick "position". This puts the geocache icon on the map screen on my Magellan explorist 500.
  21. Yeah, I checked Mon and Tue. And my headache is finally over!! Finally figured how to load the caches into my Magellan explorist 500. I posted several topics here and emailed several people and they helped me figure it out. I want to thank them very much. Plus the 30 or so people who posted a reply on my questions. Now that I know how, I wonder what the big deal was, it seems so easy now. I'll admit that it is easier to load them into my Garmin but I like the color on the Magellan. Thanks again!!
  22. What part of so Cal? I did three years at George AFB in Victorville. Loved the area.
