  1. Sorry, I assumed you meant how to log a TB since this topic is in the TB forum. Go to the cache page and click 'Log your visit' at the top right side. Select 'Found it' from the pull down menu, make sure the correct date is showing for your find, then post a log in the comments box. When you're done, thi 'Submit log entry' at the bottom of the page. And yeah - as pam said - looks like you've logged one in the past....just do the same thing.
  2. You can find instructions on how to log a pick up or drop off of a travel bug here: How to use a Travel Bug
  3. We bought our Garmin off of eBay, too. It needed a new internal battery (lithium?) so we called Garmin about getting it fixed. They said send it in - same story as others have said - we got a replacement until really quickly, plus a new wrist lanyard and a case, which the original from eBay didn't have. The GPS works great! We were very impressed and happy with Garmin's customer service.
  4. you can read the # in your picture. So you can - I didn't notice that until now, and even then I had to really look to see it. Well, nothing I can do about it now, it's been submitted and is posted. Thankfully no one has falsely logged it. Edit: Actually I was going to post an edited version here, but for some reason there is no Edit button on my post above...this one has one, but the one with the pic does not.
  5. Ouch! Nothing like finding yourself and your photo submission the subject of scrutiny! I don't think I really need to defend our entry, but here goes. We felt it fit within the rules - of course we didn't go to the moon, but we have made some long quests for caches, and the caption that we'll go anywhere for a cache is what we were getting at. We also went after the creativity and promotional aspect by saying the Jeep makes accessing tough caches easy - using the moon was a way to illustrate that you can take a Jeep just about anywhere, which makes it perfect for geocaching. Simple thing though - if you don't like certain entries or feel that they don't meet the rules, don't nominate them. ~Rhubarb
  6. Well done! Those were all great - I was laughing my head off by the middle of the assimilation of the other action figures, and Pilgrim came in to see what I was carcking up about! Thanks for posting those!
  7. That's because it wasn't a question about whether or not it should be logged. And it was about the occasional encounter, more of a random thing along the trail rather than a known 'cruising' area where it's liable to be encountered on a daily basis. If I came across either situation while caching, I'd post it in the log as well.
  8. This sums it up pretty well, I think. This is no longer about what is legal, or about what is prudent, but about what a specific cacher BELIEVES is wrong. No wonder this thread is being derailed. Keep reading - I clearly stated that I was talking about the issue of criminal activity as it applies to this topic. Whether or not I believe that homosexuality is wrong or right has nothing to do with whether sexual activity in a public park is legal or not. Please do not put words into my mouth or take things out of context. My whole point was that I will not tolerate illegal activity. And you don't have to just go with me saying I BELIEVE it's wrong or illegal - do I need to quote the exact law here? Do you think I'm just making this up? It's illegal and I won't tolerate it! I read your post, but there is no point commenting about the part that all of us, law abiding citizens, agree on anyway. But the law is pretty clear, and has nothing to do with your beliefs. Nor does the law necessarily forbid the things you believe are wrong. I wish you wouldn't try to equate those things. What struck me in your original message was your advocacy of intolerance for things that don't match your personal beliefs. That pretty much sums it up. As I said, about being vigilant about illegal actiivities, we all agree. No need to repeat THAT in order to justify your intolerance of other persons' beliefs, which is quite something different. How am I being intolerant of other people's beliefs by stating that the sex in the park by anyone is wrong? When did I try to equate the law with my beliefs? I belive sex in the park by ANYONE other than animals (and people routinely turn the hose on dogs engaged in such activity to stop it) is WRONG and it is ILLEGAL as well. In this case the law DOES NECESSARILY forbid things that I believe are wrong. That's what this topic is about after all, not a study in what Rhubarb believes is right or wrong and whether or not Shunra agrees with her. As for my advocacy of intolerance to things that don't match my beliefs - what's the point of believing in anything if you're just going to tolerate anything that comes along that goes against it? Intolerance isn't a bad thing, and I'm not trying to justify it - I don't need to. And this whole topic was about the illegal activities going on that park, and whether the owner or other cachers should post a note about such activies so that others would be aware of it. If you're so tolerant, why do you keep butting heads with me for my personal beliefs? Tolerate me and my opinion that is different than yours!

  10. Not a homophobe here, but if writing down license plate numbers and reporting criminal activity to the police is considered intolerant, then I'm intolerant. Intolerance isn't a bad thing, although in today's society, it sure seems to be. Why should I be asked to tolerate something I believe is wrong? And we're talking about the activity here being criminal, and it is, regardless of the gender of the participants - lewdness and public sex is against the law. We don't tolerate murder, theft, kidnapping, why should we tolerate people getting their jollies in a public park? It's illegal activity, and not something I want to be exposed to, frankly. If I were going to seek that cache, I'd certainly want to know ahead of time of the type of behavior that goes on there, and we'd skip that one.
  11. You said that very well, Harrald. Thank you. I agree - that last line sums it up very well. Doesn't matter what gender these 'cruisers' are or what their sexual orientation is - using a public park to find a random partner and engage in sexual activities is the problem. I'm sure there's occasionally a little 'not welcoming' on both sides. Seems silly to try to place all the blame on any specific group... what did this have to do with the original topic? Racism goes both ways - and sadly, there are people of all races who have problems with others. And I was going to say the same thing about the topic.... ~Rhubarb
  12. Here's ours! Nominate here if you feel so inclined. There's so many great entries - good luck to all who entered!
  13. The military surplus stores in our area never seem to have the ammo cans. Not sure if they just don't order enough or very often or what, but we've had better luck with two very old hardware or 'ag' stores around here. Both places have a good selection and resonable prices on the ammo cans.
  14. I was thinking the same thing - sure the TBs (any TB) is released and meant to passed from person to person, and there's always a risk that it will get swiped or kept by someone if they like what's attached to it, but like you said, it still belongs to the person who released it. When a TB comes home it is listed as being 'in the hands of the owner'. For someone to take someone else's TB and sell whatever is attached to it is wrong - doesn't matter if it belongs to a 'regular' cacher or Jeep - it's not someone else's property to sell. My 2 cents! ~Rhubarb
  15. It appears that the auction was ended early - no sale. Interesting....here. "The seller ended the listing early and cancelled all bids."
  16. In my eBay experience, the time and day of the week when the auction ends makes a difference as well. When I used to sell a lot of items, I would list them so they would end on a Sunday evening around 6 or 7 Pacific time - you are more likely to get buyers all across the US who are home and watching the item, willing to place those last minute bids and push your selling price up. When I'm buying something, I do the opposite - try to find an item that ends mid-week during morning hours when people are working, etc. Sure, you still have people at work or whatever who can bid, but it's not as likely in many cases. Doesn't always work, but it's my strategy! Also, many many times I've seen to identical items which end near the same time that go for very different prices. I think some bidders decide they want a certain item and bid or put it on their watch list, and don't bother to check for other auctions of the same item. They get into a bidding war and push the price way up, and 20 minutes later the same items sells for half the price of the first. That also happens on similar items with one of them having a ridiculously low starting price - people jump on it at the beginning because the start price is so low, and they just bid it up.
  17. I can understand not liking a beer keychain or sticker in a cache if that sort of thing bothers you, but as others have already said (rather thoroughly!), you can't avoid that sort of thing in life, but it's easily explained to kids and ignored for other trade items in this case. Do they no sell beer in the grocery store where you shop? In my local market they tend to build huge displays of the stuff - how could you shield your kids from that? Better to use the opportunity to talk to your kids about beer and what your views on it are, rather than taking the sticker and the keychain. If it were an illegal item, that'd be one thing. The only thing I've been trying to shield the kiddo from on our recent caching adventures are the used condoms we keep coming across in rural areas.
  18. Oooo, did someone say 'free'? Free and geocaching in the same sentence - two of my favorite things! Add us to the list. Thanks!
  19. Ugh - there's one near me that I've tried to find at least 4 times with no success. Drives me nuts. I even got a hint from the owner, but still no luck. And it's been found by other cachers since my last attempt at finding it - so frustrating! I'll get it one of these days.... ~Rhubarb
  20. If it's the one I'm thinking of, it looks like the whoever posted/linked the pic has removed it.
  21. Like this one! This cache has been in place since Oct. of 2002, so it's held up really well. And while it doesn't look very well camo'd on the driveway, it really blends in when you get it out in the dirt/landscaping, or in a big pile of rocks! It's got a film canister in there, and it's held up well too, and in all kinds of weather. It's from this cache.
  22. Actually moving someone's cache to a 'better' location? Unless it was in danger of being swept away in a rising river or something, I say that's just plain rude, and rather gutsy. I'd be upset if someone moved one of our caches without a darn good reason. As for adding things like a new zip lock or log sheet - I'd have no problem with that. We've done it to caches that we've come across, especially if there are several logs where the finders are stating that the log book/sheet is full, and there's been no response from the owner (especially if there's really no place to sign log! ).
  23. And I was upset because I found 3 in 3 different locations while we were caching the other day.... That is by far just about the most disgusting litter out there. ~Rhubarb
  24. Maybe from a shop that makes signs? Office supply and craft stores might have them, too.
