  1. I have recently searched for a cache that the difficulty is a 5. I have talked to fellow cachers who when I say it must be buried, say you hit the nail on the head. Supposedly it is in a tube that is buried with the top flush with the ground. Correct me if I am wrong, first how could this cache be approved? I thought that the use of any kind of tool to hide a cache i.e. shovel, trowel, anything like that was off limits? I just wanted to see what others thought........
  2. Last time I was around Desoto and especially Marshall county MS, it would be hard to hide something out there, it wouldn't last too long. When I lived in Tate Cty, my truck got stolen and they found it in Marshall Cty.
  3. I might have missed it in the thread (My wife was rushing me to go to town) What happened to the state rankings? On that other site, I can't remember what the name of it was, but it was a pretty cool site I thought. Are there any sites like that still up and running or does anyone have any plans of putting a site like that together? Just wondering, Rusty
  4. I don't like the idea, besides I think it would be a PAIN for the approvers that assign the numbers. If you take a vote, put me down as a I'll pass. Just my opinion, Rusty
  5. Cool thanks for those, I will add them to my list, I hope I have a good list of 30 or so between now and the time I head that way. Thanks again, cya on the trail, Rusty
  6. Hi all, I will be traveling to North Carolina and Northwest Tennessee the end of March, and was looking for some good quick caches to hit along the way from Arkansas. I will be staying in Boone,NC but will also be driving up around Bristol and Marion VA. Any ideas would be great. Thanks in advance, Rusty
  7. I never said you were going there JUST to geocache. All I am saying is I thought it was commercial to have a geocache inside somewhere where you have to pay an extreme price to go find it. The placing of geocaches in places like that are not fair, and in my opinion are considered commercial. Its like the company that owns the theme park hiding a cache inside there, with a hundred dollar bill as the prize, and then you have to pay $50 bucks to get in. If they have 10 people that pay to get in just so they can look for a cache, they made $400 bucks. Its just not right, as I say thats MY opinion. I am all for finding a cache wherever I am, I take my GPS with me everywhere, but inside somewhere that you have to pay to get into (unless its like a state park) thats totally different. Rusty
  8. I may be wrong, but wouldn't caches inside the parks be considered commercial in nature? I mean there is no way I would pay that kind of money to get into someplace and find a cache. Paying to get into state parks and natural areas is one thing, but come on......... Just my .02 opinion Rusty
  9. Ok after reading this I have begun to wonder how many posts it takes also......
  10. Honest Santa I have been good I promise........ Don't know what the deal was, it let me post that time. Rusty
  11. Just curious if anyone could give me any list of caches that are on I-40 between Fort Smith, Arkansas and the Texas line. I am not planning on stopping very long in OKC I am sure there are plenty there, but just looking for quick caches on my trip no higher than 2/2 Thanks, Rusty
  12. Just wondering if anyone could tell me whats going on, I try posting in the Great Plains forum as I did one day last week, now everytime I trty to make a new topic it gives me an error message and says I can't post there...... These new forums are IRRATATING, at least IMHO Thanks to anyone who can get me pointed in the right direction. Rusty
  13. I was planning on a trip out of Arkansas and up to Tulsa for a day of caching on Saturday, the 6th. Can anyone give me any idea how how many could possibly be done in a day? I am going to buy a Tulsa street map today and sit down and start planning my route..... Any comments or suggestions would be great. Thanks, Rusty
  14. At one time I had heard several people talking about a get together in Central Arkansas. I was just wondering if anyone had thought anymore about it? Rusty RW Da Man!!! CHS#1
  15. My wife and I usually cache together along with my step-son, though I have been on a few hunts with my dad or by myself. We both log under this name, but when it comes to finding the cache, she loves to get it tracked down before I do. Thats her biggest thrill. She would never go caching by herself. We have until this weekend, just used my Mag 315, but I found a Platinum on Ebay for a good price, so now we will each have our own GPSr. She says I get overly excited when we get close and she really gets a kick out of finding the cache before I do. (I think she enjoys the entire event more than I do, but she just won't admit it.) Rusty RW Da Man!!! CHS#1
  16. 150+ days for one of my bugs, I have emailed the people who have him, and gotten one reply several months ago.....I email them every now and then now, when I think about it...It has yet to have any luck. I just figure someday he will be back on the move either that or I will never see him again...... Rusty RW Da Man!!! CHS#1

Jolly R. Blackburn http://kenzerco.com "Never declare war on a man who buys his ink by the gallon." Crap I knew I was doing something wrong...... Actually I try to acknowledge everyone I meet on the trail, most people just say hi back and keep on going. I have only met other geocachers at meetings. Rusty RW Da Man!!! CHS#1
  18. I usually just sign my screen name, Rusty Da Dog, or I sign it Rusty & Crew if my wife and step son are with me. Somewhere on the log though I do put my screen name, that way everyone knows I was there. Just my .02 Rusty RW Da Man!!! CHS#1
  19. quote:Originally posted by Shadow's:Im just sick and tired of biding on e-bay. Look at the biding and see the same name bid 6 times in a row. Or just a crazy bid to start with. Nothing to stop the seller from biding up under a different name and have you ever tried to contact e-bay? Good luck in doing so. I am looking for a Magellan gold, Platinum, Color or Garmin Vista or Legend. Used is ok as long as the unit is in good working order. Would like one with the pc cord, car cord. Mapsource a + also. Again I am not looking for a new unit BUT I am looking at the price. Not a used one at a new price. Anyone out there have one? Lets talk. Thanks Rick Just picked up a Platinum on Ebay, brand new for $230 shipped. I would have to say that was a pretty good deal. Rusty RW Da Man!!! CHS#1
  20. Well, I am not sure of the coordinates for Cotham's General Store, but you need to stop in after the Tour De Scott cache. Tour De Scott is at 34 38 319 N 092 07 233 W Its a small place if you can't find it anyone around can tell you where it is. Be warned if you get the "Hubcap Burger" you better be HUNGRY!!! Also in all my travels I think its the best hamburger I have ever eatten. RW Da Man!!! CHS#1
  21. It must have just been the site itself. I was unable to see new posts on the board. The latest I was able to view was Sept 1st until today, but it seems to have corrected itself. Either that or my pc is getting old and senile...... Rusty RW Da Man!!! CHS#1

    Oops.....

I think I screwed something up when I set my preferences. Either that or the forums have been messed up. Thought I would post and see. So if its just me please ignore this. Thanks, Rusty RW Da Man!!! CHS#1
  23. Does anyone know these people? If so could you please contact them, or possibly meet them, and get my travel bug back in circulation? They have had my spaceman travel bug for what I consider WAY too long..... Any help or info would be great. I have emailed, and emailed but no answer as of late.... Thanks, Rusty RW Da Man!!! CHS#1
  24. <Jeopardy Music Plays> Whats the deal? I have been waiting and waiting to get the maps online....... RW Da Man!!! CHS#1
  25. Well, I am currently using a Mag 315 I bought it when I first got into geocaching, it is what I could afford. Now that I have stuck with it for going on two years its time to upgrade. I am wanting a platinum and when I start getting a regular paycheck again( I just changed jobs) then hopefully I can upgrade. Rusty RW Da Man!!! CHS#1
