  1. Just went paperless with c500 off of Ebay, 35 bucks, GSAK 20 bucks, Cachemate 8 bucks, Premium member 30 bucks, works great, cheap and lots of long time fun. Spend as much buying a round, short time fun.
  2. Just ordered another one from GPSgeek w/windshield mount for $22.49. Great antenna
  3. Only if you pay off the balance every month
  4. I purchased a 2 cables for my GPSMap 60 a 4 pin 12v cig lighter adapter and a power/pc data bare wire cable here at at $8.40 each I thought it was a deal. Do most of you plug your GPSr into the 12v supply in the car when going between caches or do you just not mess with it?
  5. Buy what you like. I bought the GPSMap 60 because I like the way it works, I like the way looks, I like the button placement, gets me to the cache. I'm sure everybody here likes what they have in hand, they all seem to have pluses and minuses...buy what YOU like to drive and just do it! Fifty years from now who will give a squat?
  6. My GPSMap 60 came with a nice belt clip and the sharkskin case has a hole in the back were the clip screws into the GPSr
  7. Thats right Peter, I just shut the door on the cable it's so small, no kinks, everything hunkie-doorie. Nice price on this antenna, I got the model that comes with suction cup mount for the windshield, works great. You don't always need it, (external ant) but nice to have when you do
  8. no clip on the back and the buttons are very easy to manipulate covered by the window
  9. We gotta tell somebody...My new Gilsson external ant for my Gpsmap 60 arrived today. What a difference in signal strength while riding in the Jeep. don't get me wrong, the signal is darn good without it, but hey, we're gadget people. Accuracy stayed at +- 7ft and 10 sats were pinned while driving up and down and all around!.....gpsgeek.com
  10. Go to the search window at: thegpsstore.com, and search.... sharkskin...it's the BE130..it feels real good in the hand and the window is very clear!
  11. My Sharkskin case just arrived for my new GPSMap 60. Nice fit and really "grippee" (yippie!). Check out the Sharkskin Case for the Garmin 60 series at : www.theGPSstore.com
  12. I have one of these for my cell phone, with the right connector (homebrew) I think it would work on the ex 400-500-600, I believe the voltage is in the ballpark or maybe I'm blowing smoke www.chargetogo.com
  13. DHL just delivered my new GPSMap 60, installed batteries, out to the parking, locked on to 8 birds in 30 sec +-14ft....25 yrs of service, 33 vacation days...see ya!!!!
  14. Tigergps says it should be here this A.M. via DHL, I'm sitting at my desk at work and right now my left foot is bouncing and my right eye is twitching..how many vacations days do I have left...Hmmmmmm!
  15. Li-Ion batteries are pretty neat. I have two 1700mah for my kodak digi camera and they power up quickly and last and last. I wonder what the mah rating on the new explorist batteries is anyhow?
  16. Just ordered my 1st GPSr, Garmin GPSMap 60, will be here tomorrow !! I learned a lot from these pages, thanks to all.....I did'nt want the color screen and this model should fit my needs......caio'
  17. I would bite the bullet and buy a spare Li-Ion pack and have a solar cell to keep one charged and swap out when needed. If all else fails the sun will shine (at least once and a while here in Ohio) to get you up and running, hic et ubique!
  18. Just a thought on field charging your new explorist, I use ISUN solar panels in the boondocks for charging my batteries when operating amatuer radio, they have a 6v or 12v setting, check 'em out: www.icpsolar.com
  19. Just came across this link http:/gandermountain.mapcard.com/ Some might find it useful
  20. Thanks for all the replies..The exp 600 with the SD card is really messing with my gray matter. The Li-Ion batt is great , buy an extra, and my Isun solar cells are always with me. SD cards are fairly cheap, bought a 1gb, 100 bucks for my digi camera..I do like the display on the 60cs and the window is a lil bigger, also wondering about the display resolution on the 600. All and All it looks like they all do the same thing, this one or that one one may do things a lil better than the next, service and support has to mean something. I'll decide whats important to me and make the purchase. Thanks again and keep 'em coming ..........wayless wayfarer
