  1. Same setup as you zacksba. It works perfect. I've taken mine out in the field for work with ArcPad, even dropped a few times, nothing has happened. When it's raining, I throw it in a ziploc. I dunno, maybe its white trash caching, but its cheap and it works and I can save more $$$ for gas... $3.25/gal where I'm at!
  2. That's all fine and dandy... but, if I want to find someplace to vacation, and I want to go to the place that has the most geocaches, find where the geocaches are in conjunction with my hotel, restaurants, etc. then I want to use the KML link. Creating a gpx file for EACH place and then dragging and dropping those gpx files seems to be alot of extra steps and not to mention taxing on the servers that are already overworked. Problem I had yesterday, loaded up GE, had 200 views, went to one place, moved 2 places (within a mile of each other) and all of a sudden I had 130 views left. Shut down GE, then later that day opened the KML and it said I had exceeded the number of visits for the day. Something is definitely buggy, either in GE or how GE is reading the individual KML files for our GC accounts.
  3. I have a Dell Axim and I use BeeLine GPS. Excellent program, paperless caching, gps all in one.
  4. The only thing I can suggest, not sure if it is the answer, since it did not seem to work the first time this happened, is to clear out your cache. Cache in GE is located under the options. Sorry none of us can be more help, it seems to be a black hole topic.
  5. working again for me. How about you weightman?
  6. Maybe a moderator could move this to the GC.com forum for us, and we might get a better answer there. Perhaps with all the server problems lately, this might have something to do with it.
  7. This happened again to me today... I emailed, but was directed to find the answer in the forums... Anyone have an answer for me?
  8. There is a GOTO function in ArcPad. It's under the IDENTIFY drop down list. The icon is a "man running".
  9. This happened to me as well. In fact it was on 3 computers of mine. I believe as weightman said, it is a gc.com problem. After I mentioned it on the forums, within a day it was fixed. So nothing that I did on my end fixed it, I think it was TPTB that fixed it but I never found out for sure. Might send them an email.
  10. Try BeeLineGPS from www.visualgps.net I have it on my Dell Axim x5 with Teletype GPS CF. IMHO, it's the best program out there.
  11. Only ran 1 PQ today with 34 caches, and didn't receive it yet. Using gmail as well. Must be a glitch in the system. No complaints though, after trying to keep on top of my one server at work, I really appreciate the excellent job TPTB do with this site. It's rather impressive when you think about all that goes behind the scenes at GC.com.
  12. I have a Dell Axim x5. I have a TeleType CF GPS and I run BeeLine. This makes for a all in one unit. Might not be as rugged as some GPS's out there, but I've not had any problems taking it to places I also take my Garmin to. An inexpensive way to use it in inclement weather is to place it in a ziploc baggie. If you really want to protect it outdoors, use an Otterbox.
  13. There is a nice free image processing software that is very much like Photoshop. It's called Paint.NET and was originally developed by students at Wazzu.
  14. Problem resolved itself on it's own. Close topic please.
  15. Where do I find the GE KML plugin? I have 2 machines at work, both bring up the "exceeded views for the day" when I load GE. This is also what is happening on my home computer. Like I said previously, this has been going on for 3+ days. Computers have been shut down nightly so they have been rebooted. Makes me think it might be on GC's end? But I'm not familiar with how this server thing works with GC and GE so I don't want to seem like I'm pointing any fingers. I just miss using my GE and GC application.
  16. Nope, haven't kept GE on continuously. I was thinking there were others that had this problem and they were able to get a quick fix. I'll keep searching the forums. Thanks for the help.
  17. The "cache exceeded" has been going on now for 3 days... I haven't been able to view at all.
  18. I know this has been asked before. In Google Earth when I try to access the geocaches, I get "exceeded view for the day". Do I need to clear something out in GE or in my browser (firefox)? Thank in advance!
  19. You shouldn't have to buy the program again. Just reload Cachemate, and make sure you enter your profile information like you had it before, i.e. Owner name, and then re-enter the registration code. If you didn't save the registration code, email Smittyware and they will email it to you, he keeps those records.
  20. I like Texas Orange and the picture of Signal cleaning the earth (apr05). I would buy a few shirts like that.
  21. Try BeeLine, www.visualgps.net, or Smach, www.cyancanyon.com, or Cachemate, www.smittyware.com.
  22. Those look good but they still rest against your back while you wear them, way too hot for me. If it's important (to you or the OP) not to hike with a sweaty back, look into the packs that don't do that. You're right Criminal, my back does sweat with this backpack, easy to forget when it's 20 degrees out this time of year. If I could find a pack like my Approach with a mesh back, it would be the perfect pack for me.
  23. I like to think of this one as the SUV of backpacks. Approach 3.0 Or these: Hiker Lily
  24. I know its not the same as a gpx, but there is a free extension off the ESRI site that will load .loc files into ArcMap. Just search for geocaching on the "download scripts" page.
