  1. Did you make sure that the 210 is set to "file transfer"? When you first connect the 210 via the USB cable to a computer. A screen on the 210 appears giving you three options (file transfer, some other data option, power only). When you select the file transfer option then the computer will see it as another storage device. Hope this helps.
  2. Lately I've noticed extra waypoints appearing in the POI file once I upload it to my Explorist 210. When I open the GPX file in GSAK on my computer these waypoints do not appear. They seem to only appear in the GPS itself after I have converted the GPX file using GSAK and then drop the file into my GPS. They seem to all start with "P" for example PKXA76. Does anyone know what these waypoints are? They have coordinates, but again there seems to be no description that I can find anywhere.
  3. I've had my 210 since late October. So far I've had pretty good luck with it. Most of the time it gets me within 10' or less. There have only been a couple of times when it was off by about 30'. I originally had an Explorist 300 which I liked quite a bit, but the lack of a PC connection became too bothersome. As soon as the 210 was available I snapped it up.
  4. So far I am enjoying my 210. I had a 300 which I did like quite a bit(especially the compass). It became way too tedious to have to manually input all of the caches into it. As soon as the 210 was available I placed my online order. My experience is that it has very good reception especially compared to the Legend or the GPSMAP60. I tried those out before deciding that the Explorist series was the way I wanted to go. If it wasn't for the style of rechargeable battery that the 4/5/600 use I probably would have gone with the 400 earlier this year. However, for the money I didn't really need the SD card option and the AA batteries I thought were important for ease of bringing an extra power supply. The annoyances that I've found are the 200 caches per file that you are limited to. You can have many different files of 200 each, but only one file can be selected to display on the map screen at a time. That is probably my biggest gripe and that isn't that big of a deal. There are other things too about it's firmware, but those complaints are covered in the Explorist bug's thread. The 210 I believe has the same file system and all of the same problems as the 4/5/600 units. Having only had it for about three weeks I would recommend it.
  5. I bought my 210 through REI.com. I've also seen it now in stock at their local store.
  6. That's it! I spaced the fact that you could change directories on that "File to create" line. For some reason I was thinking that you couldn't change it from going to the hard drive. I had it stuck in my head that you had to use the "send to gps" option once you created the file. That makes total sense especially since you reminded me earlier about how windows assigns the unit a drive letter. Thanks again!
  7. Thanks for the tip. The drag and drop method worked just fine. I thought the generated export file from GSAK had to be sent to the unit using GSAK. It hadn't occured to me yet to try the drag and drop method until you mentioned it. I apparently wanted to make it more difficult then it had to be. Thanks again!
  8. Who has a 210 that can verify the SD card slot? I received my 210 last week. No, it does not have an SD slot. It uses AA batteries which makes for little room in the battery compartment for an SD card. The 4/5/600 models use a flat lithium ion battery and their SD card inserts underneath the battery. Hope this helps.
  9. I just bought an Explorist 210 a few days ago. The only way I've been able to upload POI's to it is through the Magellan geocache manager software. You can't delete those individually in the unit. I read in one of the other posts that you can use GSAK to send POI's to the Explorist, but it won't transfer the POI's to the 210. I saw the note in the program stating that you need to export the POI's to the Explorist, but I can't get that to work. Do you have to have one of the Explorist 4/5/600 units with the SD card for that to work?
