  1. In the past I used the "Send to GPS" option to send an unsubmitted/unpublished cache I was creating to my GPS for test purposes. The Download GPX option has never worked on an unpublished cache, and this was the only way I knew to get the required GPX file onto my GPS. Now that "Send to GPS" has been removed, is it possible to send a GPX file of an unpublished cache (on my own account) to my own GPS for testing purposes?
  2. I've found this an interesting read. I'm not sure if the guidelines have changed, but on PAST experience can add the following : In terms of reviewers, ROYAL OAK normally covers, NW England. However, other UK reviewers will cover from him when on holiday etc. Its even been known for foreign reviewers to get involved (eg for one day only on 1st April 2012) If you have an issue in a cache submission like this, include full details in the reviewers note for the cache. That way, whichever reviewer looks to publish it, they will see this information. Assuming the guideline is still in place, its not just rivers that provide 'barriers' involving lengthy detours. Motorways can do the same, canyons, and I've even know a 12-15ft high wall around a graveyard act as a barrier between one inside, and one at an adjacent supermarket! Having said that, I PERSONALLY think there needs to be a good reason for placing a cache like this (can it not be placed 150m await left or right?). If its over exploited with lots of new caches requiring extra checks by reviewers for these situations, then the guidelines may get revised!
  3. Also one on the Wirral tonight GC38K5V Wirral Leap Day Meet - One in Fourteen Sixty One Everyone is welcome
  4. Yes - I've found many and placed several... One on Wirral stands out above all others.... GC2RPGW - Crazy Chichen Chase Its a 20 stage (19 interim & one final) cache in Arrowe Country park. Every stage is an excelently crafted hide containing the co-ords of the next It does what it says on the can - turns you into a Crazy Chicken as you criss cross the park numerous times I was one of the FTFers on the Royal wedding day. I only took 9-10 hours whist some others took 13-14 hours!
  5. On your "Quick View" page under "Your profile" there is an option "List newest in United Kingdom" Events when published have future dates so ALWAYS appear at the top of the list. (on the actual day of the event they join other caches published that day, and once the event has passed itb goes down the list as they are no longer "the newest") If you only want events in Cheshire, select "Northwest England" for State/Province, however, neighbouring counties and North Wales also hold excellent events! Very soon an extra-special Cheshire event will be published (it's in the reviewers queue). It's GC2WYG9 - "Push the Button" with the NW 2012 Mega Committee" The 5th UK Mega Event is being held in North West of England (Cartmel, Cumbria) in 2012. See http://www.mega2012.org.uk/ for more details - it is on 11th Aug 2012. The cache listing for a mega event can be published up to 12 months in advance. So on 12th Aug 2011, we're holding this special event, attended by UK reviewer "Deceangi", where one very lucky person will "Push the Button" that publishes the mega event listing Hope that helps, Phil
  6. A huge welcome from the Wirral We've already seen some caches you've published in the NW so will try and keep you busy with new submissions!!! Hope you enjoy it, and looking forward to meeting you when the secrecy subsides Phil (PhilPamandRob)
  7. Interesting Question.... Check out "Moving Target" GCP0C1 in the UK Placed 22nd May 2005 - you need to track down 4 TBs to solve the puzzle FTF by Bambi&Thumper 22nd July 2005 (62 days later) having found 3 of the 4 TBs and used guesswork/pot luck Then we chased down all 4 TBs, and booked a holiday in the area. We were second to find on 18th August 2009 - over 4 years after the FTF (actually 1488 days) Can anyone else beat that?
  8. Excellent News - I really look forward to coming down to South Wales I thought I was very lucky when I heard the Mega-Scotland in 2010 was on my birthday, now the Mega-Wales also being on 31st July is also on my birthday - I really look forward to that BIG celebration! Good luck - PhilPamandRob
  9. I can only back up what others have already said. The variety of caches that Mike & Gail place is amazing. They are all excellently maintained and they are such great people who often invite me (and others) in for a cuppa when in the area. They have just published their "Caching, Hashing, and Juggling in North Wales" event (GC1MB55) for the late May Bank holiday (23-25 May). From past experience this is a MUST NOT MISS EVENT. As well as new caches there will be lots of other activities! We're already booked in a local B&B (EYARTH STATION)!!!! Well done Mike & Gail, kepp them coming - PhilPamandRob
  10. Hazel is correct (she knows me well) I have a good old yellow E-trex and know how to use it. If its just one of two caches I can quickly enter waypoints and off I go. The Colorado needs more preparation (downloading caches etc). I do that for a pre-planned session and have started to use it, but I still have the e-trex as well. The PDA is brilliant for memory map, but battery life in the field is limited. I have also downloaded listing to it in GPXSonar. Its also been used for Wherigos (though I now want to try the Colorado on some) and as regards logging, its via good old www.geocaching.com! I have occaisionally used the PDA via wi-fi sat in McDonalds, but its slow and fiddly! No as regards e-mails, I too have missed logs from cache finds and coin/TB movements, but have no particular ones where I never get them!
  11. AS I pass close o Sefton Park twiuce a day, I'll help with this leg of the puzzle. Not sure where the staue is located in the large park, so will have to investigate PhilPamandRob
  12. I picked up the one in Chester at Goddess Minerva cache at the weekend. I'd never heard of the Geocoin Fairy, but a bit of googling told me about her. My 5 year old (Rob) loves the coin. I also know the one left in North Wales (NWWT 1a (I'll take the low road)) has been picked up as I was in the area today and called on the cache - but the coin had gone. The other 3 are far too many miles away for me to check on them PhilPamandRob
  13. Well done Lolly I bet when you placed FAB 1 and were in contact with Lady Penelope & Parker, you never expected to become a part of International Rescue and get called out on a real life rescue! Glad it all ended successfully and the only injury was to Tonys pride Phil p.s. Worst I've done is drive down a narrow Welsh lane to get right next to the cache (as Robert was asleep in the back). It was so narrow with steep bankings that I couldn't open the doors! I climbed out of the drivers window, got the cache, went back in through the window and then reversed the 400m back to the road!
  14. I prefer the same night at a different venue. The suggested options are fine by me being nearer home and far easier for parking than the Mill. - PhilPamandRob
  15. I'll try and come along (provided we can get our 3 year old to sleep). It'll be interesting as I haven't been to any of these meetings before Cheers - Phil (from PhilPamandRob)
