  1. I see that this was about a year ago... but if you're still watching (or anyone else)... how did it go? Any suggestions for some good super EASY caches? My wife and son are going on a mother-son trip during spring break this March 09. Thanks!
  2. I log my visits to the caches I find (I have the dog tag on my key chain). That's just to get a rough idea how many miles I have traveled in the name of GeoCaching. I ask that if anyone sees my travel bug (PowerStroke) that they discover it... leave a note on who, what, when, where, why, etc. Good luck!
  3. I also have the Sony a100. Bring it with me on nearly every cache. I have two bags, both by LowePro: Inverse 200 AW, primarily for hiking. and the CompuTrekker AW (this rarely has the laptop while hiking... but it makes a great way to travel with camera and laptop). I also have a very cheap looking, although insanely functional camera box/bag. Hard sides, hold the camera with lens, spare lens, and room for batteries, memory, etc. Small, carries well. In short... you can't catch fish if your pole is in the truck. Same holds true with your camera, ain't gunna get many pictures if it isn't accessible. Good luck!
  4. I have the 'old' version of MapSource Topos... I can tell you that you can load maps into as many GPSr's as you can find. But, I have not played in the realm of the other products.
  5. I think I figured out the miles aspect of my Vehicle TB. Wow. Bit Tedious. I find your traditional cache. While out and about. Of course, I have my dog tag version of the TB in my pocket... so, my TB has now arrived at your cache. I go home. I log the find at your cache. I place my TB in your cache. I log into my TB, and retrieve my bug. Is that it in a nutshell?
  6. So - If I want my vehicle travel bug to log miles... I need to do what?
  7. FTF goes to lilgray1... congratulations! Good stuff.
  8. How about this for an equation? Try to think like the guy who owns the house. Assume our geocacher wasn't really off too much from his mark - albeit not direct on track. But close enough. For some reason, at all hours of the day... there are all these people bouncing around on or near his property. And he doesn't know why. They all seem to be carrying electronics. They seem to be in and out rather quickly. Always seem to be 'trying' to be stealthy, unseen. Not defending him... but if he has even a slight amount of paranoia in his noggin... this scenario should put nearly anyone over the edge. Sorry to hear about such a negative event. Someone stated earlier -- your future cache finding can only get better!
  9. Latest and greatest - travel bug installed. It's in Alaska... still need a First to Find! My son thinks this is a great idea! We'll see!
