  1. The BC site does look more impressive than the GAGB one without doubt, but I agree with what was said earlier "If William has the web design skills wouldn't it make more sense to work with GAGB to improve their site rather than creating yet another site about geocaching?" We do not require any more new ones at this moment in time as I feel that we are very lucky with what we have and well covered as well. Just a penny worth personal opinion.
  2. Seen a couple of these, although not so many cannisters. One by the Mountain Girls in Somerset/North Devon, about twenty in a large empty plastic oil bottle so getting them out was just as much a trial as finding the one with the co-ords and another by the Lydford Locators up near the Cotswold Water Parks area, a large plastic cache box which when opened had been completely filled in rows standing up with cannisters, again one holding the co-ords required. A thousand ? perhaps would not have the time or inclination, would also have to be a Muggle free location. Good luck though, its something new for Kent no doubt.
  3. Simply enjoy it as we have in the past...................
  4. Must admit that I did read it somewhere, but is this the face of concern....No! Your right as well some with only a couple to their tally put out excellent caches and others with hundreds and thousands (not the cake topping bits either) still put out a little micro with a bit of till roll. So there you are. Knew that I would get shot down in flames......Esther Rantzen (That's Life)
  5. Welcome to a past time that becomes most addictive. Rule of thumb unless I am shot down in flames is to generally find 100 caches before placing one of your own as this gives one a little more experience on types, locations, requirements, co-ords, off sets, etc. Also if you get a moment perhaps put a little information on your profile, then at least we'll know what part of the country you are from and where you'll possibly be caching and eventually placing out some new caches. Most of all though welcome and enjoy!
  6. Works for me as well so well impressed...thanks very much appreciated. and a Merry Christmas to all.
  7. Tried all that but Ignore is still not functioning, there was a Firefox update a few days back to Beta if I remember correctly, maybe that has had something to do with it, be surprised though as it does not affect all the other scripts.................. So 'What's Occurrin'?
  8. For some reason I cannot get the 'Ignore' forum script to function, every time I return to the main page there are all there again....any advice? I have restored.
  9. Must make a point of going to see Sweet Fanny Adams next time that we are in the vicinity. Like these sort of caches. You cannot beat interest and oddities.
  10. How nice to find an interesting cache these days, the other day we had to locate a soldiers grave within a small village graveyard with a most unfortunate name. Without giving too much a way his name was Arthur Coward so on his gravestone was 'A Coward', as if that was not sad enough the poor soldier at the age of 30 died on.............. 11/11/1918. Now that really is very sad indeed, Armistice day itself. We gave him a few minutes of our time as I feel most Geocachers will do when they attempt this cache. I think that is also a nice way of ensuring that he still gets visits from all sorts of people at different times as well. Just so unfortunate on name and date. God Bless Him. Have you found any really interesting ones that you still remember?
  11. What happened to the Bookmark showing circular walks/series of caches such as Chiltern Hundred, Pewsey Vale, Grovely Ring, Grovely Witchcraft and many, many more around the South.
  12. Its just the thought of being the First to find it, no one else has left a trail to it, put a lot of sticks over it or a pile of stones to make it that bit easier to locate. We have in the past picked up a Rosette with 1st on it, a FTF Badge, a FTF coin, and a £1. Our best was an unactivated Blackpool Coin which is still going around the World being enjoyed. Some had nothing. Its just the fact that you were the FTF as simple as that. Your also the first usually to find out that their co-ords are wrong as well............another story!
  13. MIO 550 eats the battery up though when on all the time with MM and GPS functioning. I've tended to just use my MIO for the Tom Tom Sat Nav now and rarely use the MM. Purchased OS Discoverer Southern England and put that onto Oregon.........brilliant! All one could wish for. (Top Tip)It is possible also to photograph MM National Parks at 1:25.000 using MWSnap (free download) and then placing them onto Oregon as a JPEG file in profile, they can then be zoomed in and out better than the discoverer OS maps. Place the caches on before copying. Does not work with GPS though, purely a map!
  14. Just spent about an hour looking at all the other Geocaching extracts on U Tube from Dorsetgal's link. Some really interesting bits and pieces, but I think the fir cone is taking it a bit far and the Bison in the Funghi or have we just not been challenged enough yet here in Wiltshire? Enjoyed the link though. Also got some old spools from Boots as well so will exchange my micros for these little more enterprising ones when maintenance/log renewal is due.
  15. Well it was certainly a little more industrious than the usual three yards of till roll with a small elastic band around it in an unmarked 35mm cannister as most of them seem to be these days.....are they worth the bother I ask myself! I know, nobody is saying that we have to look for them, etc, etc. But it is nice to see that a little time and effort has been taken on producing them even on micro's when you eventually locate them (usually in the roots of a tree in a forest or in an ivy covered tree which takes you hours) Sorry moaning again.
  16. Nice one Wadders, a few in Wiltshire have reached that target, but as someone else says earlier 'Not Many' so nice achievement and congratulations.
  17. Must be a 'Wales' thing, but only yesterday on the English side of the M48 Severn Bridge at a cache called Route 41 we came across a micro. It was very well presented all the correct stickers and placed in a camo bag, but what was different, well for us a first anyway was the fact that the log sheet was inside the film spool inside the cannister, simply pulled out, signed and then turned back in...how simple and ingenious, yet never seen before. Is this common over the bridge I wonder in the land of pepper?
  18. It's fixed now, shame as that one in Swaziland by the buffalo shed looked a good one! Only a 2 start as well.
  19. Ignored it now, but will see what one can do.
  20. All done and dusted, many thanks for that, had not considered the cache page itself!
  21. If I go to the nearest caches to my location I have two caches that have been temp archived for almost a month now, if not longer for one. How can I remove them from the list? I've tried right clicking, but see nothing obvious to delete them.
  22. It is a lovely piece of equipment and now that I have installed Southern England and Wales OS 1:50.000 mapping onto it, its the Bee's Knees whatever way up is is. Click on and away!
  23. Great tip Stuey, but then I would have to get my glasses out from my pocket to read it all the way down there! Like others just click it onto rucksack and unclip to look at how were doing. When closing in keep it in hand, when at GZ click back on rucksack. Still believe that they could have designed it the other way though.
  24. Does it give the 'Hint' as well though? Feel sure did this before and on hint it said 'Unknown' on all the caches we had transferred.
  25. Is that another way of saying Quality and not the Quantity that we seem to be accumulating?
