Walked ten miles last weekend in the Pewsey Vale doing a series of thirteen caches. But usually only walk a distance of anything under a mile for one solitary cache! Certainly would not walk some twenty miles for one. It all depends I feel on the matter of whether or not your hobby is Walking or Geocaching. Half of our planning is how close one can actually get with the car, which is the most level approach etc. In deed many years ago the hobby would have been different and we would have treated it more like orienteering and jogged miles all over the country, but sadly those days are past, so shorter the better these days.

Perhaps a note should be placed on all forthcoming events as well, to limit the number of caches for a couple of months. Well not all that many Geocachers read or visit the forum in comparison to its number of members.

I export from GSAK to Memory Map, but when that page pops up there is no little box anywhere with the word link!! Please advise if possible.

Any paid up premium member, who asks a civil question should be given a civil answer, that's only manners! and manners maketh the man!!............Is an explanation that difficult ?

With the exception of two caches every one of the 1084 caches we have done, we have done together. I'm very lucky and I realise it.
PS: Also the dog always comes with us...

Our Westie is called Bobbie after the man in blue who wanted to know what me and the wife had been doing in the bushes! Sounds good, but a lie we had him two years before we started geocaching.

Been out all day and just switched on....Edgemaster, Many, many thanks, just brilliant! Whatever will I have to talk about now in the chat room? Thanks again works a treat.

So we could yet get a Nintendo DS GPS perhaps!
-
Aint it just a wonderful feeling !! Finally 500 found, Congratulations to you, well deserved.

Was just contacted by another fellow geocacher with three more such circular walks with many caches: Nexus (GC1AHNZ) 5 caches, Ridgeway Ramble (GC188K3) 12 caches and Chilterns Ramble (GC18X3H) 18 caches.
Keep them coming and then someone hopefully may produce a Bookmark of them. It's good to get the children to take a leg each holding Dad's/Mum's GPS and brother or sister finding it ! Cheap, safe entertainment in all that fresh air, cannot be bad!
-
The Newbury one by the Teddies looks good (GC1A1N6) although it does not specify how far the circular walk is! If there are a few of these around the country perhaps a 'Bookmark' may be the thing listing them, their number of caches and the distances! Must try Newbury fairly soon as it sounds a fun one.

There was a time when one had to walk miles along a canal in order to collect a handful of separate caches to log in. What we have noticed lately though is a newish fad of setting up a 3 to 4mile walk and around that walk placing out several separate caches of the same series instead of multicache clues. We think that these are excellent, for the enjoyment of geocaching as they are not all micros, the views and countryside are different and safer, the walk tends not to be a Marathon for the children 3-3.5 miles is comfortable, the fitter can pretend that they are orienteering! and always a circular route. Excellent! The ones that we have recently done are:
Foxham (5 caches - 3 Miles) Hodds Hill & Baydon Woods (9 caches - 3.5 Miles) Out of Eastbury (8 caches - 3 Miles) Cerney Wick (5 caches - 3.5 Miles) and Bannerdown (3 caches - 2 Miles). There are a few arund Oxford, but I believe that they are around 11 miles. Not that it is about numbers!, but anyone know of any more 3-4 mile series with half a dozen or more caches to be found and claimed? Here's hoping that the idea really takes off as its great fun for families.

Yes, How much is it and where do you get it as the link says OOps!
-
And to think we have only just a minute ago asked you if you had reached the 2000 milestone by e-mail. CONGRATULATIONS and well done. A great achievement, now as Kevin says 'Slow Down' and have the odd lay in !!
-
So it was all a Aprils Fool. Well I fell for it which is a shame really as it would have been good fun. Just proves that you can be gullible at any age!
-
Where does one find Nintendo DS Navigator ? Have a DS and game to try this out with Grandchildren.
-
This topic may certainly be closed now, thank you.
-
The Gowenhouse Bus Stop Boredom cache was done purely as an 'April Fool' and not in any serious vein at all. It seems to have back fired though unfortunately as there are others which have been put out it seems as serious caches. It's only a game......................

Brilliant answers all my questions, would be a good page to put in Newbie Geocaching Information!
Thanks...................

Tried search and cannot find a lay mans simple guide to setting up more than one PQ for all caches within a fifty mile radius. Just get same caches each time, where am I going wrong?
-
Well done, another terrific milestone achieved.

I have a Mio 550 and have had it for about a year now and it all works fine, I also have a 2gb card with Memory Map on and another 2gb card with Tom Tom 6 on. Cachemate and other software are on the actual PDA memory. Active Sync amends all programmes accordingly, then I go to the relevant program, ie; Cachemate and upload by hitting the little icon at the bottom of the Mio screen. I was also informed that the Mio could not use a 4gb card and that a 2gb was its maximum, so interested to see if your 4gb works. I have to place everything into the Mio file in My Documents prior to using Active Sync, WM_ something or other it's called, but presumably this is obvious and I'm not wishing to teach Grandmother to suck eggs even though it soon will be Easter. Good luck.
PS: look forward to seeing you on the TV !! with Team SP and the Valiant Knight....
-
Fully agree with Mrs B, Chaotica and Hugh would be worthy stars, they may also rope in The Valiant Knight and Team SP headed towards their 2000th cache! for a group filming session. Wilts and Somerset has some lovely places and caches.
-
Congratulations on this quite worthy milestone. We celebrated by obtaining a 1000 find coin and pin from Mongers, nice addition to ones coins! Well done again.
