We have a PN-40 and a Oregon 450. I really can't compare the two. The Oregon has the flashy feature of a touch screen, but the batteries don't last as long. Unless you buy the Garman "t" models (450t) they don't come with a topographical map unlike the PN-40. The Oregon is more simple to use, but I think the PN-40 has better accuracy. The PN-40 screen is easier to see in the sunlight, but the Oregon is bigger. So....we take both when we're out.
