  1. OK. So some idiot dug before they called. No phones or internet until maybe Monday. So here I will sit, in my truck, in the parking lot of Meijer, next to Starbucks at 3 AM for these coins. Hopefully one of their internets will be running at that time. I think I remember a cointest about you know when you have a geocoin problem when... LOL
  2. Man am I glad I am on vaction until the 5th. Of course they will probably go on sale the 4th at 3 AM. LOL
  3. I think I have noticed more coins from personal collections being sold. But I think the hard to find ones are being held back. People are scrambling to make a few extra bucks, but still want to hold on to the precious ones. Those HTF coins seem to be the ones people are holding on to and have to be pried from their hands.
  4. It seems that some show off the logo a little better then other coins. I was trying to figure out the material over the logo. When the material heats up and changes color, is it actually tightening up to allow the impression to show through? I know this may be a trade secret on the making of this coin. But it may explain why it does not seem to be as effective on some coins and not others. Please do not get me wrong, I love the concept and the coin. I have played with them extensively and showed them off just as much. But I know I can do the same thing to different ones and only barely see the logo on some and see it well on others.
  5. The red/green one is the Holiday 4 Musketeer version.
  6. I have never started a post on here. And since this could affect many people who sell geocoins on Ebay, including the great charity auctions, I felt I had to post this so that it may help at least one person along the way. Sorry mods if this is not appropriate. If your auction in it any where says geocaching.com or geocoincollection.com or any .com, it is in violation of ebay policy for having a link in the auction. The geocoin can have the website since it is part of the coin, but the description cannot. I did a random look, and of the 800 plus auctions out there, 9 out of 10 are in violation. Of course Ebay does not want to hear it and said no exceptions. So please keep this in mind before you list a charity auction or look to sell some geocoins. It could save you a lot of hassle. I know from many there will be little sympathy on this subject. And that is not what this post is about. But imagine a charity auction that has been bid up to some big bucks and getting pulled for some dumb rule. If I did not rely on the extra money I make there, I would be out of there!
  7. You know you're a geocoin addict ... when you see a shiny coin in a cache and are dissapointed to find out it's just a FTF $1 coin.
  8. Dang! Almost a $1000 for a round trip ticket when I am on vacation later on this month~! If I had that kind of extra money, I could by a lot of cool coins. But I bet the company would be worth it. I love Montana. Only been there once, but the wide open, Old West feel just has to be experienced to appreciate it.
  9. Wow. I love the stories. I noticed he hit a cache 150 miles from here and no one has been there. Must resist the urge to drive 150 miles each way in the snow. The way my luck is, someone would hit the cache 5 minutes before I got there any way. Congrats to everyone who has got one so far. Great looking coin!
  10. The reason he is having troubles closing the auction is because there were multiple quantities. Once a quanttiy has been sold it is not so easy to close an auction. Although I am sure there is a way to do it. But knowing some of the crazy buyers on Ebay, it could just end up selling. LOL
  11. 19 degrees here in Indy this morning. Sure would be nice to make a trip to Florida this morning to grab one of these coins. I guess the warmer weather would be nice too! LOL

  13. What makes this a geocoin? The tracking number? I find tracking numbers on travel bugs too so does that make them geocoins? I guess I should have just said "traveler"?? A great price, it's trackable and looks like it'd be neat to find in a cache! Had I money, these would be cheaper to buy than a tag (or around the same price), so I'd buy some! Would work good for prizes, FTF's and gifts...I like it! It may not interest all though! But, I could apply your very question to some other designs which have much less appeal IMHO... so I know what you're saying! I think it was back at the first of this year that Groundspeak changed the rules and started allowing geocoins to be other items that were not shaped as coins to be considerd to be geocoins. I may be wrong on that, but it seems like it was talked about shortly there after. So even though it may not look like a coin, Groundspeak considers these to be geocoins with unique icons unlike TBs.

  15. Better yet a Vista geocoin that no matter what you tried for the tracking number it would not work... And it would have to cost at least $100.
  16. I was surprised to see a special "will attend" for the Geosecret Santa event here in Indianapolis. Maybe my first shot at a mystery coin. I have been so good this year Santa!!!
  17. I like the one in the middle (front row) how is it called? That's the Christmas FTF coin from 2007.
  18. First of all I am glad RSG brought this to the forums. It does bring up some valid points for some people on what to watch out for. If you are buying anywhere other then a vendor, make sure to look for "Unactivated" and "Trackable on geocaching.com". If you do not see those 2 things and are expecting the coin to be that way, ask before you bid. I am inclined to give this seller the benefit of the doubt also. Like what has been speculated above, I would guess some mint threw some extra coins in for "a good price" to him. Like Eartha said, it would be interesting to find out who this minter is. I am glad it is going to work out the best for you RSG. Just to cover yourself, think about having tracking on the package back to him and possibly insurance.
  19. Anybody heard any new news on these? It's been about a month since I think I heard any updates.
  20. If you feel uncomfortable with how things are going, make sure to file a dispute before the 45 days are up. Even if you still want the coin and they say they are going to send it Monday, filing a dispute does not void the transaction. It just makes sure you are covered.
  21. I cannot wait until those beauties get here. I have other plans for them other then going in to caches though. I don't think I can part with them!
  22. thanks karen! it took 6 months of real persistence! now i need to find something else to be fanatical about. lara Poor RSG - just when you think it is over - TWO new Tranquilities appear what two new ones? come one, don't be a tease! rsg I just noticed one for sure listed on geocoincollection.com- The Trickster. Was that Lara I just heard throwing her mouse against the monitor and running away screaming?!? I don't think so. She already has that one. Hmmmm. I must not recognize that one by it's name. What color combo is it?

  24. Christmas themed coins are very fun. Especially if they can be hung from a tree or something like that. Wouldn't it be cool to see little ET's with santa hats? LOL
