  1. There are definitely people using 2G microSD cards in the 60CSx. You might want to try searching these forums for reports on the 4G cards in the 60CSx. I seem to remember the issue being discussed, I just can't recall whether there were problems or not.
  2. The City Nav maps are usually licensed for use on two different GPSr units. So that could save some money if you decided to do it right and go with the Garmin 60CSx
  3. My experience was with a very young driver. I wasn't out caching at the time, I was home in bed. What a way to wake up.
  4. If you use GSAK you can use the various field definitions to populate the Notes, although the character limit in the Notes is rather restrictive. There is a GSAK forum if the Help section of GSAK doesn't answer your questions.
  5. The local science museum had a live feed from JPL when the landing was taking place. I went down and watched them on the big screen, along with the landing animation. It was very interesting being there and waiting along with the team at JPL for a signal to come back from Mars. The signal came within a pretty short window of when they predicted. The elation level was quite high! Very cool video. Thanks for sharing the link.
  6. I am a Masters Student (Teaching) but I am a career-changer, so probably not the generation you were expecting Our cohort discussed hobbies recently and when I mentioned geocaching there were a couple of others that had done some geocaching (no fanatics like me though).
  7. Just to make sure I am clear on what you're saying when comparing the 60cx and 60c: The coordinates are more accurate on the 60cx when getting WAAS The 60c is more truthful in reporting its accuracy with WAAS (with the 60cx being pessimistic)
  8. I have been waiting on one for 2 days, but I just got the other (3 basins instead of the 4 in the first request) 20 hours after the first email acknowledgment. Maybe a lot more people are accessing the site to make their own maps
  9. A lot of people don't think the e-compass is worth it. I like it (but my 60CSx was an anniversary present. My wife paid for it out of our joint account so I didn't worry about the price difference
  10. I got three so far... all easily within an hour but they were not large areas. I think I would resubmit... When I made my first maps about 2 weeks ago, the only mail I got was the mail saying the data was ready (I think). Last night I got the "data being processed email" and now almost 9 hours later I have not recieved the data. Has anyone recieved 2 emails per map versus just the one with the link-to-download?
  11. That middle seat is lookin' worse all the time (hey, what's this cord doing in my lap?) I used that antenna on my old GPS V, unfortunately the connector isn't the same on my new unit.
  12. Interesting logic applied here. If people use the loophole they obviously are partnered with a member. The only ways to know if they're a member or not is to scrutinize the audit log or go check their profile (I think those are the only ways). If they haven't caused problems then I would wonder (not for very long, mind you) why anyone would care if they're exploiting the loophole. If you want the audit log, switch the cache back to members only.
  13. I'llbe the first of many to announce my unbridled joy of owning a Garmin 60CSx
  14. Private plane? If this was a commercial flight - get a window seat next time. I have gotten great signals on my old GPS V. I haven't flown since getting my 60CSx
  15. Land masses drift and change shape too. I was thinking the end of the axis of rotation, where the pole sticks out. The Earth actually wobbles while spinning just like a top does. Can't somebody take a straighter pole the next time they go up there? Wouldn't that help?
  16. If this is indeed a bad unit it is a rare occurence. If you read these forums much you'll see that the satisfaction level of Garmin owners is quite high. There is probably a way to do a factory reset on the unit. Garmin support is Legendary (sorry for the pun) in their high level of support. Give them a call.
  17. Is it possible you had de-selected the maps in the "map setup"? That would keep you from seeing them and being able to route with them, but they'd still be on the card.
  18. I think my handheld GPSr does most of these for me. Without much training.
  19. What are the WGS84 coordinates for the North Pole? Oh man, you gave it away. Now anyone can log it
  20. Having grown up in Seattle and my dad having worked for them, I must confess to feeling betrayed when the corporate hacks decided they wanted to live in a city with more wind, and such a rich aviation history
  21. Or you can build your own transparent topo maps for the areas that you need topo maps and keep 'em all turned on at the same time (see the thread in this forum).
  22. I would've expected this topic, with the thread title as it is to be posted in the midwest forums
  23. Actually, my brother will be visiting that cache in March (he goes up with the UW each spring)...I'm going to have him take a picture of the bear. I really hope he brings back a picture of the house
  24. There is a step in the process that removes duplicate objects. Maybe the lakes are considered duplicates. Just grasping.
  25. You're new here (obviously). It is REALLY bad form to spam at least 13 different forums with the same plea. Especially with the single most common problem. And now the whole geo-world knows the tracking number
