  1. The kind lady at Jack's confirmed that the USFS is mandating that permits get picked up the day before. Hopefully a few phone calls from disgruntled climbers (nudge, nudge) will encourage them to make the system a little more user friendly.
  2. I will call Jack's and see how early they open, and if the permits can be picked up in the morning on the day of the climb
  3. If a geocoin has some instructions along with it then you should follow them. If none exist, then treat it as a $5 trade item (roughly). If it is a trackable coin then you can look it up to find out what to do with it. A sig item is a valid trade item. I have collected many wooden nickels from caches in exchange for my sig item. I am sure there are many threads on this topic - someone will probably provide a link
  4. I'll have to do a test (maybe) since I have the Gilsson external that I used on my GPS V. I don't think it ever had 12 sats plus the WAAS sat while on top of my Honda Odyssey minivan (except maybe in Wyoming once), but the 60CSx had just that this morning inside the minivan on the freeway. It dropped a few each time we went under an overpass but had 'em all back within 5 seconds.
  5. You should be able to get one for around $40. I found a highly regarded Ebay seller a few weeks ago selling Micro SD cards for about $42 including shipping.
  6. Garmin has great customer service. This one might have been easier for them since 6.0 is 2 versions down-rev and not part of the upgrade path to the City Navigator. It's what I am using
  7. I checked to see if my NiMH batteries were being charged while the USB cord was plugged in. They don't seem to be getting any of the juice provided by the USB connection. I doubt that the alkaline batteries would be affected by even a non-Garmin USB cord (USB standards apply to all implementations).
  8. I am going the 29th of July. I already DNF'd the cache once A decon container might be good. I may have one in the garage.
  9. That's a great looking coin and very cool that you got one into the hands of the president. Hopefully the corners are rounded
  10. I am lucky to have one. I traded it for one of mine. I haven't sold any of mine (except the antique gold finish that was only sold for charity). I have seen a few of mine show up on Ebay. Hopefully no more will. I'd like first shot at getting it back, just as Joefrog does his.
  11. That timing really sucks. Champoeg C5 is the biggest event around on that very weekend.
  12. Any openings in your group? Slinger - I emailed you regarding the 29th
  13. My regulary scheduled Saturday PQ ran today - at 11:24pm (36 minutes before Sunday!!). Kinda sucks to have to be pro-actively monitoring it and to do a bunch of BS to get what I have been paying for since Day One.
  14. Mine seems to have a nice solid "click" as it gets seated. No problems so far. It's just about 2 feet too short!
  15. When I bought my 60csx I did a lot of research, and it is not compatible with any version of City Select NA. All I have ever used on my 60CS, 76CS, and now my 60CSX is City Select. I just checked my Garmin box and CD-ROM and verified that it is definitely City Select I've been using for several years now... and that it definitely works on the models I listed. It's what I just loaded into my new 60CSX just received last week. It even works with my copy of City Select N.A. v6.0
  16. I have always declared $5 value, and no-one has ever said they had to pay any charges upon recieving the coins (Canada, Germany, Holland, Australia, England and more). You can get a Word template that prints onto Customs Forms. Whether you do that or fill them out by hand you should go grab a stack to have on hand (it's encouraged by the p.o.) 1st ounce is $0.39 each additional ounce is $0.24 2.1 ounces is the same price as 3.0 ounces (i.e. $0.87)
  17. Looks like fun! See you on the 15th!!
  18. Keep your eyes open for possible geocoin sightings
  19. That would be micro; nano is 1/1,000,000,000. I need to get more sleep.
  20. How many lb, oz, grain is a nanogram 1 gram = 1/28 oz (roughly) nano = 1/1,000,000 I think the definitive answer has been given
  21. I bought one a amazon.com that should end up costing me $4.95. I applied for their amazon credit card and used it to buy their $44.95 SanDisk 1GB microSD card. By using the credit card (which was approved in about 5 seconds or so) I will get a $40.00 credit when the bill comes. The card qualified for free shipping so my total expenditure should be $4.95. Not a bad deal at all. But for those of us who already used that credit, we'd have to pay $10 more than at buy.com BTW: that is a good deal!
  22. Go with 15. I used 16 on the GPS V and had to back off 1 character to keep things kosher.
  23. I have the latest revisions 2.9/2.6 Glad to hear it isn't just me. Apparently it's everyone except 5thwheelfinders
  24. I have noticed that sometimes I get very little warning on the last warning for a turn/exit. Some freeway exits are really long, resulting in the final warning bell being sounded after I have passed the point of being able to enter that lane. Also, some cross streets off of surface roads give very little warning. I'd like to know the turn was coming up before entering the intersection. It would be nice to be able to increase the amount of time a warning is issued, perhaps in percentage increments.
