Thanks for the trade. What wonderful looking coins!
-
I have gotten in the habbit of buying two coins. One I activate and let people 'discover' it, and the other I use for trades or to sell later.

Caching Road Trip coin design. Feedback please?
Billy Goatee replied to avroair's topic in Trackables
I like it, but those who haven't traveled that part of the country may not bite. Good idea though. I just got back from a road trip myself crossing Nevada, California, Oregon, Washington, into BC, across Idaho into Montana down thru Idaho again, and back home to Utah. We had to get the Original Stash and the A.P.E. cache. -
Did you know that Utah has two different coins? There is a Utah 2006 geocoin and a micro geocoin
-
never thought of that... nope, still need the number...... good idea, though.

I am bitten with the peak bagging bug. I was wondering about feelings about contacting GJTB holders about peaks I have bagged to discover them and post a pic of the peak. Do you think this is ethical????? Just curious.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...A%3AIT&rd=1 Another 2006 Compass rose coin sold on eBay.. and one is ending soon: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...A%3AIT&rd=1 Why the big jump in price, I wonder... It has nearly doubled this last week.

The 2006 compass rose is averaging 28.00 on ebay, but the most recent one sold went for over $60.00 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...A%3AIT&rd=1 There is a 2005 that comes up once in a while, as well.

A friend and I are doing the pilgrimage in two weeks. I have been eyeing the coins on e-bay, that are selling for a boy scout troop, but I just couldn't afford to donate to the cause (a good one, I was an assistant scout master years ago) then voila! they showed up at a price I could afford. just comes to show, good things come to those who wait. and the same thing happened with the puzzle coins. so, patience is a virtue i must have achieved.

3 Utah 2006 in antique gold 1 Utah 2006 in antique silver

Got mine in the mail today Silver and Gold. They look great!!!!!!

I was at a cache yesterday that had 11 coins, and many tbs. I traded three coins for three coins (my general practice, let someone else take coins that want to) and I discovered the coins that I left behind. It is a fairly new feature, so It will take time for some to learn what it is for. It is a good thing that new features are implemented. It shows that we have a growing sport, and have more adventure stories to hear.

Just checked the site where the Utah Geocoins were sold, and they were shipped today. Hurrah! I have some silver ones, and I cant wait to see the GOLD!!!

This is a friendly spider, one you will want to pick up if you ever come across it.

What I didn't tell rdavis is that it will cost him a silver set! (the only one that he can tell apart)

I Was Thinking Of Casting My Own Geocoin
Billy Goatee replied to SomewhereInND's topic in Trackables
The first foundry I used was a metal 5-gallon bucket lined with refactory cement, and a hole in the bottom, which a propane weed burner was inserted. It got hot enough to melt brass. If you plan on brass, the sand molds tend to 'float' so you will need to tie them together. remember to use a sprue and riser, so you know that the mold took (the metal will rise in the riser) There are plans you may find on the internet that you can make a forge out of scrap pipe. (The one I have is 10" pipe, about 2' long. For a crucible, you can weld a bottom on some heavy-gauge pipe, any more heat than what aluminum needs, you will need graphite. Also, the lost wax method will give you even more detail than sand casting. -
Send a note to the people at Groundspeak. It is obvious that the person knows that they should travel. If enough people complain, maybe they will be released.
