  1. I agree with you if that's worth anything.... Anyhow, virtuals were killed before micro spew. The "wow factor" argument would not hold water these days because what has happened to traditionals. But the deck was always stacked against virts anyhow..... Kewl. If they/we managed to kill off the virtual caches then instead of whining on about it let’s work on killing off the "micro spew" Let’s rouse the rabble.
  2. We did talk about a new way to place caches this weekend at the event at Marymoor park. Kinda of an offset cache. You load a micro as a sabot-type shotgun slug, you get the coords for where you are standing and the heading for where you are aiming then fire it into a field. As a hint you'd tell them what gauge of shotgun you used and what type of load you used so they can figure out how far it could have traveled.
  3. Slacker! Coming from someone who has yet to hide one.
  4. I'd spring for at least 3 of each.
  5. What? You think 10 months between posts is not active.

    Flooding

At the bottom of that article it says "The road is frequently damaged by flooding, and the Park Service plans to eventually let it become a hiking trail, Taylor said." Guess that'll up the terrain ratings on any cache farther in.
  7. Need a hug? Ya won't find it in this thread, but I'd give you one if it would help, or a beer, or both. I'd drink with you until we both solved all the problems geocaching faces only to forget when we woke up with hangovers. Still don't take what's in the thread personally. It's frustration, lack of understanding, lack of information and all that working it's magic. I don't hold it against Team Misguided or hydensek when they start calling people whinners and opinions carp. Sure and I would drink with you any time if for no other reason then there was beer available. I rarely take what I read too personally and those that know me wouldn’t take anything I post to seriously as well. I have been on the periphery of most of these discussions and since I’ve yet to hide a cache have had little input. Sorry if I came across as petulant. I do know that the WSGA board is in the process of drafting a letter to the state and I for one would be in favor of posting it since I believe in full disclosure to the unwashed masses.
  8. Speaking as a member of the WSGA board I just want to say that I’m really feeling the love here. Makes me want to reconsider running for office again since I don’t need this kind of carp. edit to add - you may not be hearing much from RWW since he has recently started a new job and his working hours will keep him from responding in the forums as much as he has in the past.
  9. Speaking for myself and only myself I'm of the firm belief that if they want to regulate us above and beyond how the regulate others playing in their parks then we as geocachers should say screw em and not play in their parks.
  10. Mine is "Even a blind monkey finds a banana sometimes"
  11. Would you like a bigger spoon? you kill me TL.

    Reviewer

The short answer to that question is no. The longer answer gets into accusations about the mental stability of anyone who would accept the job. Simply put, get involved in your local geocaching organizations. Be a good cacher and when the current reviewers feel that a new reviewer is needed you wait for them to call you. And if you are lucky you recognize the number on caller id and don't pick up!
  13. And what if you check under that same rock a second time? Is that four now, or still three? If you trip over the rock and subsequently turn it over does that count as a DNF since you weren’t actually looking for it under the rock? And does that count as a cache related injury? The last question was not made with the malicious intent to derail this thread.
  14. On the other hand he has a point. Placing caches on private property doesn't seem to give any one heartburn but gawd-forbid someone try to place a cache in a forest far from anyone or anything. Huh? Since when is he trying to place it away from anyone else? He wants TO PUT IT ON/NEAR/CLOSE TO A HISTORICAL SITE. The Point I was trying to make wasn't about the cache he is so obsessed with it was about the fact that we all laugh at and accept lame Wal-mart micros which are on private property without permission and over regulate (in my opinion) caches placed in the forest. And to save you time, Nope I’ve never placed a cache. Got the Ammo cans all loaded and ready to go however so far I haven’t had the energy to wade through the layers of carp it would take to get one placed that wasn’t on private property, or in a National Park, or a State/county/city park. That all said I'll drop it since I don't want to derail his rant. edit cuz these stoopid fingers ain't workin so good today
  15. I had to take it off my ignore list because it was just too entertaining. The point is he doesn't want to work things out or be reasonable or come up with a compromise. Much like a spoiled child who doesn't get their way, he is just going to yell and stamp his feet and make threats and tell us how important he and is family is and how powerful his walmart manager friend is. It's kindof like the guy who gets caught speeding and then tries to get out of the ticket by arguing that everyone else zipping by is speeding. I wonder how many threats...errr...promises he has to make before he gets banned? I cannot believe he's still active. And you are coming across as the evil older brother that is egging on the spoiled sibling to see just how far they will go. (Yes I speak from experience as I was the evil older brother that made life hell for my younger sister and brother)
  16. I think this statement is the basis of all the argument. You believe the grounds to have nothing to do with the historic site and reviewers believe that it does. Unless you can demonstrate via pictures or some other method that it is actual off the grounds, I would have to err on the side of caution and believe that the grounds are indeed a protected part of the Historic site. At any rate - what could it hurt to at least ask for permission? If it is really harmless they will probably gladly grant it. The areas (grounds) around almost every historic site are considered to be a part of the site. Just makes sense to me and the reviewers but clearly not you. I am sorry for that. If I am misreading the situation then please correct me.... How about the offset idea - will it work for you?? ...and can you please back off the threats - not helping anybody here...... Why not err on the side of the cache placer and not a reviewer that may have never come within a 100 miles of the cache site? edit cuz fat fingers cain't speel so gooder

  18. If I ever end up with a FTF it would be a total fluke. Roll out of bed early to get a cache...yeah right...not even if the first to find prize was donuts and hot coffee.
  19. I may be in the minority but when I buy a cell phone that is all I want it to do, make and receive phone calls. My PDA is just a PDA, doesn’t take pictures or play videos. My MP3 player just plays music, doesn’t play videos or store pictures and my digital camera only takes pictures (well okay it could do a few minutes of video buy I have never used it for that).
  20. Yeah I'm sorry I missed it to. Instead I spent the day get quotes on tires then spending an obscene amount of money getting 4 new tires on the cache mobile. And an oil change on it and the Suburban. It needed to be done before our trip to Idaho on Friday. I would rather have been out with you guys…although my knees hurt enough today I can’t imagine what they’d feel like after a 4 mile hike.
  21. She says she is still going to try it. Ya wanna pool up with me and Tudles? We can meet you at your place... E-mail sent.
  22. She says she is still going to try it.
  23. Good I have something to look forward to however T2A is going through a real bad spell with her hip so she is doubtful for this weekend and I feel kinda bad about leaving her home. And Olympia is pretty boring.
  24. Man, that looks like it would be fun! It was and I will have a smiley for it cuz I got the down range cache before the shooting started. I will have the smiley if I remember to log it...and remember the name of it...I'm pretty sure I did sign the log...carp what were we talking about again?
