  1. I am interested in doing this, but haven't heard anything from All41, scubafill, or DiverDan about whether they would want to do it as well. cheers, Poppa J I'm thinking that it won't work for All41, unfortunately. We were in a car wreck 3 weeks ago, and he's still in pain from it. I think that the dive would be too much. Poor guy has wanted to do that cache for years, as have I. Sorry to hear that however you can wait for me to rehab and we can do it together. I figure All41 and I can tether you between us on the way down.
  2. So tell me about this cache run? We may be interested in following you around.
  3. Now that sounds like a plan.
  4. Given my usual posting styles in these forums, that's hardly very fair of you (or the others mocking and making the same suggestion). I simply know the difference between levity and inanity, making a goofy comment in context and disrupting/hijacking a conversation to your own ends, or on-point humor and off-topic in-jokes. The examples given in this thread show that some people here choose not to draw these lines and I think Corps is right in implying that it causes some issues with good forum behavior. Hm. This is why I probably don't know how to respond to this thread. I think that every situation is different, and heck, I guess I must not know the difference between levity and inanity, cause I'm just more even confused now than when this thread first started. Quick definitions (levity) noun: lightness of manner; noun: feeling an inappropriate lack of seriousness Quick definitions (inanity) noun: total lack of meaning or ideas Hope this helps Wow. Thanks. I needed that. Glad I could be of some assistance. Sorry for nudging this thread off course. I'll leave now. No, no. I think that you helped the thread a lot. Maybe now that I know the difference between levity and inanity, I can formulate an appropriate response to the OP. No I think you are still trying to derail this thread and you keep luring me back you temptress you. Read my signature line.
  5. My wife was surprised to find one in a cache on Saturday. It was truly unexpected and that made it special for her. Now to get her to drop it in another cache.

  7. Like posting in the forums to keep awake at work. Apparently the HVAC has packed it in again.

  9. And who made you (or I or anyone but the mods) an arbiter of what's to be an "obvious" troll? The "an" post wasn't so obvious a troll. King riched's post isn't an obvious troll. The first "Cheerio" who deems a post unworthy of being left to its own discussion says something assinine about "llamas" or "the pig" or other nonsense and the rest of the General Mills crew just pour out onto the table and take over the topic. The only "derailment" an "obvious" troll needs is to be closed by the moderators. Report it, don't act like it's your own personal playland. If the thread is an issue for the forum, it'll be closed well enough without watching the Bed Spring Brigade bounce through it leaving a mess of innuendo and inside-jokes. In fact, I've seen posts in the "Cheers" post in the Off Topic forum where this sort of dogpile of inanity is actually suggested or requested by one of the clique when they link to their initial "llama" garbage in someone else's thread in the rest of the forums. Perhaps you are taking this all a bit too seriously. Well, poop. There goes my witty comeback. Nothing worse than a frustrated n00b.
  10. And that is the other reason I say no to micros in the woods, I've seen geo-stumps reduced to a mass of pulverized wood pulp by crazed cachers.
  11. My VERY point. I want people "in on the secret" that there's a trail of micros out there. Once they're on the physical trail, they'll quickly know that the string of small steel sculptures are where the micros are attached. The fun of it is experiencing a scenic route AND enjoying the thrill of the micro find. Bushwacking for an hour looking for "something not easily seen" isn't my idea of fun. I'll certainly avoid those in the future. Perhaps the title of this post should be "Caches that are impossible to find, including but not limited to, micros" I agree with the OP and I think you nailed it in this thread, see bolded text above, I've gotten to the point that I won't search for a micro in the woods. This isn't a rant against micros since I believe they have a place in the game I just chose not to hunt for them in the middle of a blackberry thicket.
  12. JSNTD? Doesn't quite have a ring to it. Well I'm open to suggestions for an acronym that rings true.
  13. To drag this back on topic. IMHO it is not right to pig pile on a floundering thread to deliberately derail it. Not right, but oh so much fun at times, until someone gets punched in the snout. Just Say No to Thread Derailments.
  14. Never had that problem and I've been paperless for over a year. However I do use a different setup then you. Palm PDA and using GSAK and Cachemate. You might want to check you settings and run a small PQ to test it.
  15. I missed taking pictures when Moun10Bike was presented with the custom made walking stick. From what I could see it was well received and a nice looking stick, complete with an inset Moun10Bike coin. Nicley done.
  16. Here is a picture taken part way through the after bike ride event. We pretty much filled the cafe and I think the cafe staff did a great job. As a public service announcement - Since this cafe is owned by the park service no beer can be served.
  17. I think a fun time was had by all, except for the participant who had the unfortunate face-plant. Ouchie
  18. Sounds like I will be caching over and meeting up with you intrepid people at Cle Elum. See you at the diner when your ride is over. I'll be the one sipping an iced tea, enjoying the weather. Have a nice ride.
  19. First I don't play the ftf game. That being said if a cache has been published then it is out there for anyone to find. That is where the whole "first" to find part comes in right?
  20. So you'd prefer people to stick their heads in the sand and ignore this? No. I would like the police to find the people who did this, and for everyone to take the same precautions on a hike they'd take walking down the block near their house, as far as looking out for the two legged snake. I don't avoid driving because I know there are car accidents, but I do fasten my seatbelt. Same idea. In complete agreement with the above.
  21. So you'd prefer people to stick their heads in the sand and ignore this? Personally I'm not too freaked out about it and it wouldn't stop me from hiking that trail, however I will be a little more cautious, maybe a little more observant, and I don't see anything wrong with that.
  22. Now that just creeps me out. My wife and I have been talking about caching in this area this summer. Now if we do it I'll probably want to do it as part of a bigger group or skip it altogether. In the past I've felt comfortable with just the 2 of us, more worried about someone trashing the cachemobile at the trailhead then getting attacked. {sigh}
