  1. This thread reminded me to renew my subscription. [shamelessplug]I suggest everyone who doesnt have a premium membership, do it now. [/shamelessplug]
  2. I bought 5 California Geocoins last summer. I placed one in a cache a couple months later, just to test the waters. It was picked up once and logged, maybe twice. Then like you, a note that "we'll get the coin to such and such quick" and never logged again. They either never placed it in another cache, didn't log their placement, or just kept it and i'm screwed. I would've liked to see it travel further than one or two caches. I think i'll hang on to the other 4 for FTFs if/when I place my own caches.
  3. LOL. This is what happened to Marcie when I sent it to her at work...
  4. This is great info! Even though I've done it that way for a while now, I still read the whole thing, pictures and all. Excellent work.
  5. A couple people in my area have made little 1" x 1/2" laminated papers that say "This cache found by" or something. One laminated piece of 8 x 11 1/2 would go along way to make little cards that way.
  6. Or find a Fry's store near you. They have deals on 1G SD cards all the time near me. You can pick up 128MB SDs for less than 10$ with in-store rebate.
  7. A freind of mine is looking into the GPS market. He's an avid fisherman, and wants to know which GPS to buy that can hook to his FishFinder Has anyone successfully combined these two units, and if so, what unit do you recommend with the most connectivity? Thanks.
  8. Lol. I'm so glad theres new life to this thread.

  10. I tried that a couple times... Oh-the frustration! Strudelmonkey.. I'll tell you what I did.. I picked up a cheap Palm Vx off of ebay, and now I have cache pages with me always. If only I had more time to cache!
  11. Someone was doing a Geocaching Radio. But it must've fell by the wayside... 0.5- This is the will all and be all of geocaching sites. I dont need to search for more. 1- The forum posts that accumulate in a couple hours will keep you busy enough to last until more accumulate.. I lurk on about seven of them, and trust me, I could be here (gc forums) for awhile following threads and reading interesting facts, stories, and info about new GPSr's and their issues.. 2- Start your own geocaching blog as well. 3- Participate in the forums. Increase the traffic. -edit: Miragee.. great blog. Lots of good reading.. [add to favorites]
  12. I have topo3d and have never encountered anything like that.
  13. I had to change it when the SO wanted to cache, but the avatar is the clue. - Most respectable Top Gun character played by an awesome screenactor - Relatively unpopular solid-point, hyper velocity cartridge chambered for the 22LR edit: I can't remember which one, I think the first.
  14. I know of one up that way. Not sure if its the one you speak of. Check out this thread. http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=123482 I was given specific instructions on how to get to it, and the coords for such. I was also given a subtle hint not to pass it on. You can find it if you cross reference some maps, or just do some searching. Not accesible by car, and its an all day hike. Theres also a huge discussion about crash hunting in another thread... http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=119332
  15. Sacramento, Ca. F-86It's pritty sad when an Ice Cream story needs to have a Fire Sale! I wasn't alive when this happened, but my mom drove me by the place when I was a kid. She told me that that was where a plane had crashed into the Ice cream joint and killed a bunch of kids. Quite sad. I'm not sure what it is now.
  16. My dad has made pens, clock face parts, earings, bracelets, gunstock inlays, and kinfe handles with antlers.
  17. I can't believe Jeremy has not made a Paperless forum yet. I've been hinting for 8 months. Cachemate is the best program for the Palm i've ever seen. I tried Plucker and didn't like it much. Basically GSAK (I hope you use it) can export a file in Cachemate format, and then hotlink it to the Palm, and you're good to go. The Palm program itself is quite small, and very convenient. Try it anyways, and you could always go back to Plucker if you (or someone) fixes your problem. Shameless plug: http://www.smittyware.com/palm/cachemate/ -edit THIS IS MY POST #666 ---OMFGWTFBBQ!
  18. What are you trying to figure out? You're reading stuff that isn't there. Read my post, look at the pretty pictures. That's all it is. Jamie Your title is Redneck Vs Ammocan. How could we possibly "read into it?" The proper term is "Earnhardt-Americans." LOL. I own firearms, and I just thought it (subject line) was a little prejudicial. Not that I would shoot at an ammocan in the middle of the woods, but I know people that would... Manmade objects get shot up in the woods. It's just the way the world works. Maybe banning guns would make it all better. Sorry about your can. It must need better camo [don't hit me]
  19. I made the mistake of making about a 70 meg region one time. My GPS took forever when scrolling across the map. I would advise nothing over 30. My current is 29
  20. Amen ^ I'm still trying to figure out the subject line's implication that a person who owns firearms must be a redneck. - excellent sig line, Kit Fox
  21. Using GSAK. "File" menu > Export > Cachemate PDB file. Then on the pop up menu that comes up, check "Auto-Install to palm after conversion" I would suggest becoming a premium member for the benefits of pocket queries if you already have a Palm.
