  1. I want to know what PDA/Palm most of the cachers use, and whats the cheapest I could get to use, strictly for caching. Must connect to my PC, and have some sort of ability to use GPX files. Any other info would be appreciated. RAM needs? Software?
  2. This is happening pre-CITO in the Folsom area. Is there another CITO event in the Sacramento area on the 16th? - (gm)
  3. I think they're usually defaulted to Magnetic*. I don't really see the need for True unless you were hardcore mapster or something. Not for everyday caching and hiking. - *I stand corrected.
  4. Mag until you need otherwise. Remember that magnetic north is quite a few degrees from true north.
  5. a whole year for what? What a steal. ...can't wait to start using pocket queries and such.
  6. You mean there's other geocaching sites? [sarcasm]yea, I care[/sarcasm] Haven't felt the need. All I want is here.
  7. That's what I do. I have some caches saved to my SD card in files arranged by zipcode. 95630a 95630b Makes it much easier.
  8. Interesting. I live in Sacramento, CA. I have DirectRoute as well, and if the roads on Topo3-D take the road info from DirectRoute, I can't do that. There are a ton of dirt forest roads in the Sierras that Directroute does NOT show, and the old Topo 4.20 does. If it doesn't have these roads (as Directroute doesn't) I would be no less than pretty pissy after spending $60 or whatever.. - (sp)
  9. Is going out and buying MapsendTopo 3-D worth the money? I have Mapsend Topo v4.20, and does anyone know if there are any good reasons to upgrade? I don't care about the PC 3-D terrain feature, just wanted to know if the 'in-GPS' features are better... more accurate maps, more POI's, more dense topo contouring? Someone help me. I have a MeriGOLD
  10. I heard on some news that the gasoline production can still continue, it's portion of the place is unaffected. Whether it WILL or not..
  11. So some refinery blew up in Texas, killing 14.. Clicky What will this mean for our gas prices...
  12. I knew it was something simple.
  13. I looked into both of them before I got my Gold. I must say that I already have a decent compass. The barometer and tri axial just wasn't a big enough gimmick for me to shell the extra dough.
  14. Ok. wait. You had the wrong coords, were right on target? Of course you were 80 feet off, 'cause the coords were wrong . You put in the wrong ones (or something got transferred, or downloaded wrong), therefore, you were exactly on the right spot, in the wrong place. Then you used the map to match the actual cache coords (the right coords) and you found it. - If I put in the wrong coords, then I could be 0ft away from any cache (on the GPS) because I entered the wrong ones. When I matched the coords, like you did, I would have hit it right on. I think. Or is the problem the coords somehow got messed up?
  15. That'd be an expensive rocket. I hope you use the shute thingy, and adjust for weight! You may end up with one of those two piece GPSs. They look cool, but I doubt the functionality...
  16. But did the rangers give you a cut of the smoke..?. stingy bastages..
  17. Topic!? There was a topic? But seriously.. maybe I should start packing some latex gloves.
  18. Real ones? Were they stupid?!?
  19. im just curious im not going to attack you or anything I just want to know. did you wake up one morning and say "hey I think ill go get a drink" or did someone show it to you first. The point was not how we all get started on our bad habits. Be it sex, chocolate, marijuana, or malt liquor. Too much of anything, in the wrong hands can spell trouble. The point was that because some kid who happened to be smoking a little pot did something to you, you stereotype a whole lot of responsible adults. Blame the parents. It's their lack of supervision. - I'm, glad to see some geocachers that share in the herbal ritual.
  20. I mst say that I smoke, and I agree, it is terrible for kids, and most kids turn to drugs as an escape. I started after I grew up (legally at least) and frankly, it's my weekend alternative to alcohol; which I believe is a much worse drug. There are worse things to do. I don't have kids, pay my own way, and i'm not troubled or violent.
  21. EVODESIGN- I want to be a beta tester! I'll pay for shipping!
  22. Why would you even turn it off? Bettery consumption is the only possible reason, and theoretically, WAAS should be just like recieving another sat signal, right? Wouldn't it be the same as the difference between you locking onto 4 sats, and 5 or 6 sats? Not that I know what i'm talking about. -E
