  1. Someone dig up that log about the cache on the Alabamba State border, something about a couple of hicks out there camping... DO NOT APPROACH FROM THE ALABAMA SIDE!! Anyone remember? -edit: Funniest Story Ever. True Georgia Story In Alabama
  2. Oh yeah, and theres a cemetery cache where my extended family is located. Not mine, but it's okay with me! Check it out: Found this one while visiting Hicksville today. This cemetary is also the burial site for the Wilton (Consumnes) band of Miwok Indians. In other words my family and ancestors. My grandfather, grandmother, greats, etc are all buried on the east side of this plot. McKean, Blue, Taylor, Daniels. These are all original Native American families that lived in this area. I've been to more than one funeral and watched the hand-digging of graves in the hot sun, and the pouring rain. Although the cache page indicates Hicks as settling this land, I believe the cemetary plot was actually put aside by land owner Valensin for the Miwoks who worked his farm, and other locals. At least according to my father. Thanks for a great two-for. Visit my family and log a cache. TNLNSL Creepy Crypts
  3. As a kid, my dad always counted a deers points by the number on the side with the most. a four-pointer would have four points on at least one side of the rack. Was wondering about how it is for the other people around the country since I see some people say "ten pointer" and such.. & i've never seen a deer with 10 points to a side. Just so this post isn't completely useless... Feed an animal!
  4. Done a couple, love them. I will stop aand look at cool cemetaries even if there is no cache!
  5. Trackup. That way I know what's ahead of me. Would you look at a map from the side? Well, I don't anyways...
  6. Marcie's parents have a empty vacation house in Grizzly Flat (east of Somerset). Nice area, I've hunted it all my life, but there aren't alot of caches that way. I guess i'll have to plant some myself, eh? A lot of caches north of US50, but I haven't been in awhile so... ya.
  7. Well I guess noone else will speak up. Hello and welcome. Which part of the Central Valley? Stockton area? Myself i'm near Sacramento, and well, anyways.. it's hotter than hell right now here. Have a good one.
  8. I didn't make a political comment, I made on obvious observation, then I commented on others political statements. I will not retract anything. Like the NY times, eh?
  9. Any palm cheap enough to throw away. That's what you will do when you cache with it. I've dropped mine, got it rained on, and anyways. Get a cheapo one. Plam iiixe or Vx
  10. Wow. This is so cool. I am so jealous of your family! You lucky bastages! What an honor that must have been. It reminds me that good things still happen to good people. Unfortunately this thread tells me that too many liberal scumbags geocache. It's too bad that people can't be respectful towards your family and their priviledge to meet the leader and protector of the free world. I also submit that if you or anyone posted a similar story concerning John Kerry (you know he served in Vietnam?) or Albert Gore Jr, no one would have posted a derogitory statement, even though it may have crossed some minds. Like mine. Just goes to show you what side of the aisle has more respect for their opponents and their acheivements. Again congratulations. Eric
  11. Do yourself and your laptop a favor and ditch that Media Center Edition.
  12. I would suggest spending a day or two around Lake Tahoe. I would also recommend, since you'll be by Yosemite, those caverns.. I think they're in Calaveras County... There ya go.. http://www.caverntours.com
  13. This thread is the most wonderful thing i've ever seen. First. Watercop. Welcome to geocaching. This is the best result of this thread. Second. Pablo Mac. I dunno if you're right or not. But I like your side of the argument better, dadgum the law . Well. At least sometimes. Third. I have not seen a more vengeful caching cop than this MomToo person. First, right or not, she obviously has a bone to pick with Pablo Mac. Second. I can't stand whiny rats. "Whah, I can't find your cache, Pablo Mac, so i'm going to tell on you. Whah! I think its rated to low... whah!!" Thats you MomToo.
  14. Now this is my favorite story!!!! OMGWTFBBQLMFAO! That is hilarious.
  15. I'm Eric and I don't live in the Mother Lode, but I love to hit the hills and cache and shoot. Hope to see more caches planted in the Sierras.
  16. Or killing deer just for the trophy and not the steaks. Thats the worse part.
  17. http://www.rcgds.net/ This one too.
  18. Don't drop it out in the field. They won't take 10% of the abuse a handheld GPS will take.
  19. Great log. Bad luck that day.
  20. Happy birthday! I don't know you, but I think I actually emailed you something before. Weird. Have a good one.
  21. Does anyone local to the area know how the snow is looking on the Mormon Emigrant Trail (Iron Mtn Rd)?? I'd like to know how far the road is clear if anyone lives or has been up that way recently. Thanks in advance for any word.
  22. I found some old roads in my area. I have old 1950's topos from the area. Since the land never really changes over the years, I just looked at them hard, and matched the topo declinations to my Mapsend Topo3d and made waypoints. It was tedious, but I managed to plot an entire old road this way. I followed the curves, the elevation declination and landmarks that don't change over 50yrs. Like rivers, hilltops, and contour. It shouldn't be any harder to do the same with whatever current maps and trails software/prints you have. But if you're trying to convert any maps into Mapsend type files. Good luck.
