  1. Honey, why don't you stop and ask somebody directions?
  2. I am with Hermit Crab. Since I am still new to this I just assume I am blind to the obvious. Spent over an hour looking for a 1.5/1.5 but couldn't find it anywhere. When I went to post my DNF the cache owner had posted that it was missing. Maybe me excited that maybe I ain't the blind idiot I was beginning to think I was and I posted such.
  3. 7/20/06 TNLN SL TFTC Big Max Isn't that how everybody signs?
  4. Was wondering if anybody commented to the reporter on how they felt about this article? I just finished emailing him that I felt the article was extremely biased and he should have given the wisconsin geocaching association a chance to rebute the article. Also pointed out several areas that he violated on their ethics page.
  5. I don't know if it is affecting my marriage or not. I haven't seen her since I started caching.
  6. Uh, now I will know what to look for? Hey now, the locals are not supposed to read the forums Donning orange vest, hard hat and clipboard to blend into background so you will never notice I am here.
  7. Good motivation to eat those leftovers so you can have the cache container back.
  8. I cleaned out my daughter's room last week while she was at camp. Hope she doesn't look in my swag bag!!
  9. I found myself opening and closing the coffee can this morning wondering how watertight it was. I think I may have a problem. Hi, my name is Big Max and I am a cacheaholic.
  10. At least you have a local Target. The closest one to me is over 2500 miles away. Although I have 4 (soon to be 5) Walmarts all within 20 miles. In that case you might want to stock up when you go. Is no place safe from Walmart?
  11. Here's a Sunrise. This is at Lithgow, NSW, Australia. OK I was birding when I took this photo but I did find a geocache near here the day before and another one the day after. NevaP, delighted that she can get photos to post again Wouldn't a sunrise in Australia be a sunset in North America?
  12. Maybe the bum is just a cleverly desguised cache.
  13. Just as long as they let me log the cache first!
  14. Uh, now I will know what to look for?
  15. Sorry to here that hukilaulau. I know how you feel. When my Jeep got broken into they didn't get a whole lot, some tapes (yeah it has been a while), a jacket, etc. My Jeep was parked right outside my bedroom window and I didn't hear a thing. The worst part was the violation and not feeling safe anymore. I have traveled to a lot of 3rd world countries and never had a problem. Been robbed twice, once here in the US in a very conservative small city and once in Australia by an American.
  16. I have found that the ammo cans tend to leak when they have been hit by a 12 gauge 3" magnum with #4 shot or even your standard 22 LR. Only solution I have found is a 700 lb, watertight, 1" thick, stainless steel canister, filled with dessicant, some great FTF Swag and a log book and then completely laser welded shut. It was a booger to lug out into the woods and hide but it ain't never leaked, been moved, muggled or filled with trash and it is definitely bigger than a micro. Only down side is nobody has ever been able to get into it to sign the log or claim the FTF. Well there was one person that spray painted their name on the outside but I wouldn't let them count it because it wasn't in the log book. There that should pretty much solve all the problems with caches.
  17. The nearest is 1.5 miles. If I get time this evening I plan on tackling this one. Otherwise, it will have to wait a while till I get home from vacation. The nearest to work is 0.4 miles. I have a dnf on this as there was some confusion as to the actual location. I have good coordinates now so just a matter of time. High muggle area, especially at lunch which is when I would like to do it. I may have to do the clipboard and tape measure disguise for it.
  18. My main gripe wouldn't be from the person doing the cache but from your perspective. Unless your a severe night owl, people calling at one or two in the morning would wear on me really quick. People will do it too. I have been in a situation somewhat similar to this and received many phone calls in the middle of the night. But if that doesn't bother you go for it. My philosophy if you don't like a cache whether it is type, difficulty, location or whatever than don't do it. There are plenty of others that you can do instead.
  19. It's on the Hulapai reservation which isn't part of the National Park.
  20. Yep, I've heard of it. I don't have a problem with heights but that one might get to me. Looks like a great place to hide it in plain sight. Figure out a way to hide it under the bridge so it can be seen through the plexiglass with no visible way of getting to it.
  21. I am still fairly new at this but so far I have found it is rather difficult to write a whole lot when I am out in the field. Unless I can retreat to my pickup to do the writing I do good to just say TFTC, note if I swapped swag and sign my name. I leave the long posts for the computer where I have time to sit down and compose something. I like to leave interesting entries, usually some sort of story.
  22. I bet that crater/glass layer would make great camo for the replacement container assuming you camo it properly to blend in. I wouldn't even think you would have to camo it. I would have to think twice (or even 3 or 4 times) before climbing down into the bottom of a bomb crater, even if my GPSr said that was it. Ah heck, no I wouldn't. Whatever it takes to log the cache. Question, would the radioactive isotopes throw off my GPSr?
  23. I like that! Now what you need is to make the combination match the co-ordinates. We have a padlock geocache here that does just that. It is a 4 digit combo made up of different parts of the co-ordinates. Took us a few minutes to figure it out.
  24. I love my truck, 2004.5, 2500HD, Duramax Diesel, 4x4, Crew Cab. BIG DURAMAX TRUCK hence the name 'Big Max'. I use it for hauling my trailer everywhere. Gets great mileage compared to anything even close to it in a pickup or SUV, pulls anthing you can hook to it and blows the doors off of most cars, including the rice burners. It is known as the Long Range Geocaching Assault Vehicle (LRGAV) in my posts. However, for everyday driving right now I use my '99 Honda ACE 750. Gets 50 mpg, runs circles around the scooters and has a pretty good cool factor. It is cheap on gas, maintenance and insurance and saves wear and tear on my more expensive pickup. It is known as my Urban Geocaching Assault Vehicle (UGAV).
