  1. bumping for anyone wishing to go. its open to everyone.
  2. Just getting this out there as an FYI. there is going to be a paintball event in the san antonio area. we will have a private party at a discounted rate. all are welcome to come and play, or come and spectate. http://coord.info/GC2RBE5
  3. or, i can have them pick any cache of mine to log as a find (even if they have found it already).
  4. that kills the point of the cache though. i didnt know about #1, but i knew i might have a problem with #2
  5. i have an idea for a cache, i plan on calling it the RAGE cache. why? well i know alot of cachers that cant stand to have an unfound cache in the immediate area on their lists/devices and what not. my idea? to have a cache that is physically at the coords, but can ONLY BE LOGGED as a DNF. but how do they get credit for the cache? easy, have another mystery/puzzle cache that has no physical container, but the cache page redirects you (in some way, maybe hidden in the page source?) to the "RAGE" cache. whatdoyouthink? any better ideas on how i can make the DNF cache work properly? its an idea i had that came to me while caching with some friedns and we started jiking about logging DNFs as find and putting in the log about how its missing, and doing the opposite for finds and looing them as DNF but describing how we found it. we were just joking and it caused some laughs. let me know if you have any ideas or if this can work.
  6. i like the cacheregister because its lite on my hdd, my old laptop crashed and i havent replaced it and im using an old laptop with a 20Gb hdd so it goes quick. anyway thanks for all the help people. im still having an issue, but i think i know what it is. i imported a pq from cacheregister and when i loaded it i got a message that read 'cache import excedded the maximum import limit, 1000 waypoints were added" or something along those lines. im assuming that the device can only load 1k caches from each pq? but i can have multiple pqs on the card itself. am i correct in thinking this? also, how do i delete a pq from the device while using cache register? i have an old test pq i made that i would like to delete from the sd card. but whenever i plug in the device cacheregister opens up and wont allow me to see it as F: in explorer. FINAL question: i just discovered this, but i have this huge nasty green line on my map page that i guess is the "route i have travelled" with the device? i dunno but it looks real ugly and clutters the map near my house. how do i get rid of this and/or what is it called? found out this is the TRACK option.
  7. sorry ot be kind of OT, but where is the post saying virtuals are returning? when did this happen? i must have missed it. theres one ive been really wanting to do but couldnt.
  8. okay, i think i got it figured out. i used topo9 to add a .gpx file. actually, once i added my login details it found the PQs i had on here already and i checked them and it added them to the device/sdcard. i think im going to enjoy this.
  9. okay, now that the update is done, how do i add geocaches to the pn-40? should i use the topo9? or GSAK like i did before? either way, how do i get it to recognize the caches on the SDcard and do i have to change a setting to see more than 1k?
  10. yea, unfortunatly topo9 didnt give me that at all. but i was able to download the standalone update and am doing that right now. the standalone told me about the firmware transfer.
  11. okay, what am i doing wrong. i plug in my delorme, open the software, click the sync button and it tells me there is a update, i click update now...... then nothing. do i need to have the device on a certain way? when i power on the device while plugged into usb it gives me the what type of connection do you want? i click on data exchange and it goes to the sateelite and aqquires a fix. if i click map transfer topo 9.0 doesnt seem to recognize it.
  12. yea, it came with 9.0. hasnt asked me to update anything at all. ima try that right now.
  13. im on 2.6 i checked the delorme site and 2.7 looks like it does the SDcard waypoints. but it also says this...
  14. so, i bought a refurb PN-40. and it didnt come with a user manual, but it came with evetything else. so i got 3 quick questions to ask if someone can help me out here. i currently have a 16Gb SDcard installed, can i load waypoints onto the SD card and if so.... how? there is only a 1000waypoint limit on the device. can i make it readwaypoints off of the SDcard? also, if i click a geocache and then route to it, if i decide i dont want to go, how do i quit the route? i cant figure it out, other than powering down for now. thanks in advance for helpng me out. i really should try and find the manual for download.
  15. i live about 5miles from an old air force base that has since become a public area. when they decomissioned the base and opened it to the public, they left alot of the aiplanes that were on display standing. i really wanted to place a cache near the f15 thats on display. i happened to be with my father the day i was placing it, and he use to work on f15s in the air force. he showed me all kinds of cool hidey holes ON the f15. so needless to say, i have an f15 geocache container now.
  16. theres a smiley face shaped series just west of el paso
  17. thats what i was going for. the only thing i have a problem with is if it will be visited enough.
  18. the crytex would be located in the final cache. and the riddle to open it would be on the logbook. solve the riddle on the logbook. open cryptex. get "ultimate" coordinates
  19. first things first. i am planning a series of caches (~20) all with the same theme. in a random 6 caches, i will include parts of the coordinates for a final "challenge" cache. heres what i want to know. for the challenge cache, i would make an "unkown cache" listing. i get this. however, i plan on making 1 more cache not related at all to the theme of the series/challenge. i was planning on using a cryptex and having a riddle to be solved to get to the coordinates. however, i want the cryptex to be placed in the challenge/unknown cache. its all basic in my head, but i dont know if any of this will get approved. basically, the cryptex cache page would read as "see GCXXXXX to find the cache which contains the puzzle for this cache" basically, what i want people to do, is to do the entire series to get to and do the final challenge cache. and since they have gone that far, see if they will go 1 extra step to find the "ultimate" cache. what do you guys think? would you do something like this? i would make the final "ultimate" cache as awesome as possible. plus, a cryptex cache isnt something you see everyday. gimme thoughts. this is the cache that got my idea rolling. 20. came in this thread to actually post this. no lie, im planning on placing a cache on 10/10/10 and calling it "DON'T PANIC!"
  21. ill start it off like this, my father placed a cache a week ago. since then it has been found "5" times. upon a visit to the cache today to check on it, the cache was found out in the open, and not hid well. a scan of the contents showed that both travel bugs listed in cache were gone, but showed still in it. ill get to this later. the log book however, had only 1 entry in it. and it belonged to the newest finder of the cache. even the FTF stated he signed the log, but no entry was found. any of you ever deal with this, and should we be a "meanie" about it and delete the logs since the logbook was not signed? i dunno, maybe i should just leave it be. another question that pertains to the Tb's. i noticed that the 2 bug were gone, however i also realize that Gc doesnt make too big of a deal when it comes to relaying what Tb;s are to the "no0bs". recently, i just had a person pick up one of my Tb's and put in her log that she picked it up, but it still shows in the cache, and after a research of her history, i found out she does pick up and eventually drop off Tb's, but she doesnt do it properly. some random cacher will find them in a random cache. this got me to thinking, would it be rude to put a "explanation" of Tb's on a cache page like on my fathers cache? its an ammo box and is big enough for them, but them not being logged out could be due to "no0b" cachers maybe? any opinions?
  22. That looks like a good one! How far away from parking is it? 1/4 mile or so.
