  1. You can fit a few maps internally, but you're right about a card being a good idea. You want a microSD card, probably 4GB size, Class 6. It's a Garmin application. If your unit came with BaseCamp, consider getting the Mapsource application as well for this purpose, available here: http://www8.garmin.c...ails.jsp?id=209 No. You select the map offered to you from gpsfiledepot.com, then you may select smaller portions to send to your Dakota using Mapsource. Might be, if most of us hadn't gone right up the same path with the same questions! Thanks!
  2. Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I'm afraid I suffer from a bit of technophobia. This next bit will seem laughable to most of you but here goes: 1. I need to get some sort of memory chip for my GPS, right? Where do I get one of those? What is it called? Do they come with different capacity? If so, what do you suggest? 2. When I go to gpsfiledepot it talks about "mapsosurce". What is that? 3. If I have a Nuvi for our car and have downloaded updates from Garmin, does that mean I have "mapsource"? 4. If pigs start to fly and I get past the "mapsource" issue and actually begin to download a map do I download the whole map for Colorado or jus the parts I will be using? I hope you are enjoying a good laugh. Thanks. llosst
  3. Hello, Would someone point me in the right direction to download trail maps of Colorado and Utah for my brand new Dakota 20, please? It seems the maps available from Garmin are less than satisfactory (although I've never seen one). How do you get a decent trail map for this unit if you don't get a map from Garmin? Thanks. llosstt
  4. My local T-Mobile store sells a Garmin Smartphone. My assumption is that this phone would be a good way to kill two birds with one stone. Does anyone have any information on the Garmin Smartphone? Thanks.
  5. Thanks for the thoughtful replies.
  6. Howdy, I have tech envy. Most of my family have smartphones and I want one (tech envy). I also would like to do some geocaching and hiking and would like to have a decent GPS device (more tech envy). It occurs to me that I satisfy both desires by buying a smartphone and downloading a GPS app. Do I have that right? What are the pros and cons of that approach? Thanks. llosstt
  7. Hello, Can you tell me about any dayhikes in Summit County Colorado (Breckenridge/Vail) in the summer? Thanks. Chris
  8. Hello,, I am new to geocahing--today I saw a 60CSX at Bass Pro Shop. This included the unit and some accessories (I can't remember what they are. They are selling the unit for $249. This seems like a good deal. Is it? Thanks. Chris
