  1. Received ours yesterday. Look great! Thanks.
  2. CONGRATULATIONS!!!! Hope the Geocoin Fairy comes to PA!
  3. I have always put a polite note in with the returned unit explaining the maps I am using and that I need replacement lock codes. They have always included a new code with the replacement unit. As said above .... they will take good care of you. ImpalaBob
  4. Das Boot is on the Lehigh River in Bethlehem. But the owner is not sure if it's still there after the major flooding a few weeks ago. Do You Canoe? on the Schuykill River below Phoenixville. Get the Point? located in Marsh Creek State Park.
  5. Now we all should know that condensation has nothing to do with being waterproof ..... as we have seen with many cache containers. Your problem occured by placing the unit out in the direct sun ... in a damp environment. Place the unit near a dehumidifier or even under a light bulb. It will dry out and come back to normal. Condensation occurs from the trapped air in the case letting go of its water molecules due to heating. If it does not .... then call Garmin. They are very good at service and will most likely take care of you even though you are out of warrenty by one month. ImpalaBob July 3, 2006 - 1000 finds with Koikeeper!!!!!!
  6. We were in Cape Cod the beginning of May and there were alot of unadvertised WIFI location. I had checked before I left on vacation so I knew there would be a couple places quite close. So I was surprised when we found alot more. We had a Palm and would check first if there was a wireless connection and if so, then would bring in the laptop. We had a Holiday Inn close by that we ate dinner but it needed a password to access. So we just asked at the front desk and they gave it to us no questions asked. We found a great place for a cheap, hearty breakfast and I would log all my finds while eating.
  7. Congratulations on the BIG 1000
  8. Stay away from Cape Cod! We were there at the end of April and we had them all over us everytime we went out. But like a previous poster said, I can get them in my own back yard.
  9. Head over to Allentown... The Caching Nuts have quite a few caches put out and they take you to some nice places. And for a real challenge, try some Fren-Z caches
  10. We did that one. We were very happy when we found it by ourselves after we found all the decoys The geogods must have been with us on that one.
  11. Very nice... so did you cook them up & eat 'em??
  12. Well for one thing, if you buy them in the supermarket, they're alot more expensive. We think that they're much tastier... like comparing clams to escargot! We got lucky yesterday and found 3 plump, tasty morels during our caching expedition.
  13. We started our day off yesterday with two caches that were definitely taken Countryside Travel Bug Hotel and Crystal Cache. It was pretty depressing and more so for the owner. Both of the caches belonged to the same person.
  14. It's definitely Columcille for me. If you're in the area, don't pass it by. It's a very easy cache to find but the place will take your breath away!
  15. ImpalaBob & I had a couple of DNFs on two caches... one was in state gamelands #182 Countryside Travel Bug Hotel. The other was nearby at Crystal Cache which is located at Crystal Cave. Both had the same owner. Not sure if this is related to the SGL controversy. The caches were completely gone!
  16. Sometimes trying to get a FTF isn't easy especially if the coordinates are way off!
  17. Congratulations Here's to another 200
  18. ImpalaBob (who is an PA HTE instructor) contacted Doug Killough who is the Director for the Southeast PA Region of the PA Game Commission. It concerned a problem that another cacher was having with the placement of her caches in state gamelands. He is well aware of geocaching. Here is the answer from the true Authority of our region: Geocaches may be placed on State Game lands provided that ALL State game land laws are adhered to..... especially... (21) Except on Sundays, be present on State game lands from November 15 through December 15 inclusive when not engaged in lawful hunting or trapping and fail to wear a minimum of 250 square inches of daylight fluorescent orange-colored material on the head, chest and back combined or, in lieu thereof, a hat of the same colored material. The material shall be worn so it is visible in a 360° arc. Persons using shooting ranges are exempted from this requirement. Containers are expected to be small in size and placement should not damage the surrounding environment. He would encourage each cache placed on Game lands to have the above information prominently displayed on the cache page. Each cache container should be well labeled to identify itself as a geocache .... especially ammo boxes (whose munitions markings should be removed or painted over).
  19. Dockside is on St. Thomas. Go to the online maps section below the description. I clicked on the geocaching.com map which showed that it was St. Thomas. What is the other one that you are interested in?
  20. My geoparents are "The Caching Nuts". I met them when I went to a geocaching event last year at Lorimer Park which is near Philadelphia, PA. They let me use their gps and answered my questions... even gave me some pointers on caches in my area... super people
  21. Absolutely! If you find the cache it is a logged find and TB dropped off. If you are returning to a cache, it is a note and TB dropped off. ImpalaBob
  22. Those are some great paint jobs and cool ideas for cammo
