  1. I agree with briansnat. The issue is NOT which is more accurate, it's an issue of ergonomics and design. My Nuvi 765T is a superior GPS, it even has the high sensitivity reciever, but my old Etrex Legend C (non "h" model, or even "x" model) blows the pants off the nuvi for the long battery life and the guiding compass alone. Use both. If budget is tight, a hand held monochrome GPS is fairly cheap and has the compass you need for GCing. Use the Nuvi for paperless (if you have the macro) and/or guiding your car to a cache parking spot. I would hate to be caught in the rain with the 765T, but I don't worry with the Etrex.
  2. I had taken a one year or so break from caching before I was married. After I got married, I quickly loaded 4 or 5 caches on a local trail that I had cached before to have an enjoyable walk/hike with my wife. All 5 were DNFs. When I came here previously, you had to look, but the ammo can *could* be found. Now I found myself in strange areas with no places to find ammo cans. Disappointed we went home and I logged on to GC.com to see what the deal was. Thus I was introduced to "nanos". Lesson learned. Until I get a GC premium membership, every cache from now on is religiously checked for "size".
  3. I had my old D1x tethered to a Garmin GPS III for automatic Geo-tagging. Cost me about $80 for the GPS and the cable. I never managed to get a 10-pin adapter for my D200 when I sold the D1x, it was just cumbersome to have a DSLR and a Garmin tethered (I never had a flashmount cradle for it). A lot of people use the gecko with a 3rd party flash-mount cradle attached to the D200. Another option I found superior and actually use: When I sold my D200 for a D2x, I also bought a N2 Di-GPS, a little guy that connects to the flash slot and connects to the 10-pin of the D200, D2x, D300, D2hs, and D3 series cameras. I believe Di-GPS has a version for certain GPS-enabled Cannon cameras. Every time I go in the wild to take photos, the Di-GPS is attached to my D2x. My Di-GPS was $65 on the 'bay, small, with high sensitivity receiver, and allows me to use my hand held without it being tethered to my DSLR. Here is the N2 attached to a D200 to show you the compact size: http://www.di-gps.com/di-GPS/n2.htm
