  1. Great news Ali, congrats on the 1200... See ya...Gary
  2. Thanks to both you guys, I had a great time shame Margaret couldn't come along. See ya...Gary
  3. I wonder how they got permission to bury it past the reviewers? I would say its on they land somewhere....
  4. Mapsourse does export 1.1, but the problem is that the GC.com site only see's two waypoints. The start and the end of the route, it doesn't see any other waypoints in the file. If you need a copy of a GPX from map source drop me a line with your email address. See ya...Gary
  5. Hi, The only way I got this to work was the following:- (1) Save your route in Mapsourse as a .mps file. (2) Convert MPS file to a GPX file via GPS Babel (3) Convert GPX file to KML via GPS Visualizer "http://www.gpsvisualizer.com/" They must be a quicker way, but this does work for me. It would be good if the Geocaching web site could import GPX files direct from map source, but at the moment it only imports the start and end not any route waypoints. See ya....Gary
  6. Congrats Roy and thanks for all your caches, we must get back to Banbury and check out your new caches See ya at the next event... Gary
  7. You could also have a look at http://grand_high_pobah.home.comcast.net/ This one one also breaks up people into different counties, which isn't as painful as it sounds [] See ya...Gary
  8. Well with the new caches along a route feature, I don't see the point anymore of getting the whole database. If I go anyway I will just grab a circle around where I am staying and then the caches within 2 km of the route. But thats just me, I am sure other may have reasons to have the whole database. See ya...Gary
  9. Thanks to everyone for their responses. If you export a GPX file from mapsourse and import this into caches along a route, you only get two waypoints the start and end of your trip. Not the whole auto routed trip. Robert, also tried to convert a GDP file to a KML file and this doesn't import into "Caches along a route". Also if you open up a GPX file in Google Earth you also get only the two waypoints, not the route waypoints. I did create a route in Google Earth, but its routing isn't the best and added an extra 30 minutes onto the trip. So sticking with Garmin as this is the autorouting that my GPS uses anyway. Any other ideas? See ya...Gary
  10. Paul, You could do a maintance check on a certain cache in Watermead, that should cool you down a bit . See ya...Gary
  11. Another good reason to always write the cache name and GC number on your caches. Did it have a log book and had anyone signed it, you might be able to track it from the log entries? See ya...Gary
  12. Hi all, Does anyone in the Geocaching world have a quicker way to do this? Convert Garmin .MPS files to the Google earth format .KML This would be really handy for copying routes to the new "cache along a route" feature. At the moment, I convert the MPS file to a GPX and then convert this using GPS visualizer to a kml file. You can't import this converted GPS file, because the only waypoints in there are the start and end points. I suspect there must be a quicker way to do this? Does anyone know how? Thanks Gary
  13. Congrats Matt, that was a quick 100 didn't you get 500 at Oxford? See ya...Gary and Margaret
  14. Congratulations to the Ollies for reaching 900 caches yesterday on our cache “Gone Fishing” Great stuff guys, its always a pleasure caching with you guys. Looking forward to our next cache day with all four of you. See ya...Gary and Margaret
  15. Its not too bad, it suggested the same route up north that my Auto routing Garmin GPS did. So that's good enough for me. It gives you a general idea, very handy if you are not familiar with how to get somewhere. I do tend to just follow the GPS these days. Which can lead to some amusing adventures. Oh the whole a great new feature, I used to download the whole UK DB and then filter the route out in GSAK. See ya...Gary
  16. Congrats to The West Viewers for reaching 200 caches over the weekend in Oxford I am sure you would have found more if John hadn't been carrying all those coins with him Great stuff guys!!!! Gary and Margaret
  17. Thanks for that NickPick, heres me holding the micros in my mouth while signing the log book []. Didn't realise there may be nuts on it...
  18. Me no, but when will be see a Nebias Geocache around these parts [] Come on Evan, there has been loads of talk about it but we still haven't seen it yet? See ya...Gary
  19. Does Memory map autoroute, or is it a manual process? Ie, click on each waypoint of a route? Can't seem to see any difference between a track and a route? Can anyone help? Thanks Gary
  20. For those without Memory Map you can use Google Earth to create a route. You select two waypoints and then it works out a road route for you, save it as a kml file and then import into the GC.com site. Very useful feature indeed. See ya...Gary
  21. Hi, Yes saw it this morning very cool indeed, I think I will replace my Bookmark list "M1 caches" with it. Also cool is how you can import a file from Google Earth, you create a route and then import into GC.com. If you want to give it a go, I have created a route between junction 1 and junction 46 of the M1. Search for a route called "M1", I think its public. This is something that I will use whenever we go further a field. I can see trips up north now lasting several hours []. See ya...Gary
  22. Hi, I saw this on the New Zealand forum and thought it could be handy for caches over here. I found a site that allows people to check that they have the correct co-ordinates before heading out to find puzzle caches . The site is located here http://www.geochecker.com I will probably start adding this to my puzzle caches, the good thing is that the cacher can get an answer in real-time rather than waiting for an email etc. I have added it to one of caches already, so feel free to try it out. Please note this isn’t self-promotion. Just a way to show you how it works. To try it out, have a look at GCT15Z. See ya…Gary
  23. Hmm, that is a bummer. I was planning on going up to finish the cache in Grizedale forest, the way of markers. Great cache shame to see it archived. Lets hope other groups don't follow suit with these charges. See ya...Gary
  24. Great stuff Paul, Sarah and the girls. We really enjoyed watching someone we know on telly. It was a great little piece about the hobby/pastime/sport. See ya...Gary and Margaret
