  1. Gee, what a coincidence. We're also taking a Viking river cruise but going from Switzerland to Amsterdam in July . Seems we both have the same concerns.
  2. Traveling to Europe (river cruise) with only smart phone (android). If we get international plan, will we be able to access geocaching.com using data or wifi? Will it be in English or local language?
  3. When I attended GeoWoodstock XV, one objective was to give a geocoin to a specific geocacher. The geocoin was activated in my name but he got to keep it as long as he wanted. I only asked that whenever he had the opportunity, to allow others to discover it. When it was tired of it, he could pass it on to another cacher. Well, I started it in Texas, then passed on in North Carolina and then traveled to California. It was discovered numerous times and recently, passed on to another how took it to Nebraska. Still going strong! Before attending GWS XV, if anyone was interested in doing this and I had several that said they would do it. It seems one way to send a geocoin out into the wild and it not disappear. Any thoughts?
  4. We experienced the same problem. About half of the corrected coordinates didn't flow through from the List to the Android. I even tried deleting from the list and saving to the list.Info requested is Version 5.7.1 Android 5.0.1 Samsung SGH-1337 A fix sure would make life in the field a lot easier.
  5. I like the idea of GxProxy coins. Making my own sounds like a lot of time and effort for occasionally making a geocoin trackable. I checked out the website and seems I have more questions than before I started. How large are the various proxy coins, how long before I get it, Should I include a paper description with the proxy (in a ziplock bag) so it won't get mistaken for regular SWAG? I don't think there are many, like myself, that are familiar enough with GxProxy that it would just be overlooked in a cache. I usually look for the dog tags to retrieve a TB. Thanks for everyone's comments on this. Now to get off my backside and do something!
  6. I have several geocoins that I would like to travel but I know if I use the real coin, it will quickly disappear. I like the idea of a proxy coin but, besides taking a picture, does anyone have a suggestion on how to make one?
  7. I appreciate all the quick and helpful comments and advice. I checked out the Texas Recreational Use Statutes and I believe that is exactly what I need to bring to the attention of the church if they have any reservations. I feel a lot more confident about this now. Thanks to all.
  8. We have asked our church about hiding several caches on church property. The issue that they seem most concerned about is liability should someone gets hurt while looking for the cache and sues the church. While the issue of negligence on either party is not for debate because that would be settled in court. Is there anything in Geocaching that would hold property owners, that have granted permission, not liable from such legal action? Obviously, if the property owner or the cache owner places a cache in a dangerous location, that would not resolve the property owner from damages. Anybody have any thoughts on the matter. Thanks
