  1. I like Cachly because it works on my Apple Watch.
  2. The latest Geocaching newsletter on the Cachly app mentioned that it would work with Apple’s Watch I didn’t know that even though I have been using my iPhone and since 3/17/16 . Today I opened it on my Watch and used it to find and post a nearby cache it worked great.
  3. I read the same newsletter and have been using Cachly and my iPhone exclusively since 3/17/16 didn’t know about the watch app until I read about it. So this morning I opened the app on my Apple Watch and found a new nearby cache and posted same, worked great.
  4. I'm planning to put aside my Garmin 450T, flip-phone and iPod (audio books) and replace all with a iPhone 5s and Groundspeaks paid app with a rugged case. I compared my wife's iPhone 5c to my Garmin and found it as easy if not easier to read in the Arizona sun than my 450. Seldom do I geocache for more than three hours a day so battery life should be ok. I like the iPhone for its ability to replace the other devices I normally carry and its decent camera and mostly that I would be able to cache on the fly. My only real is will I be disappointed with its accuracy?
  5. I see Garmin Oregon 650T on sale at $399.99, I currently use and Oregon 450T which is working OK for me. I like the 650's brighter screen, huge cache capacity, camera, and other features. How ever read reviews of constant crashing, inaccuracy, and other problems. Those who have went from Oregon 450 to 600 series are you satisfied? Should I wait for more of the problems to be ironed out? Or would you pass on any of the Oregon 600's?
  6. Thank you all for your input but I didn't mention my other precaution before leaving home I make a copy of the mapped area/s with caches I'll be attempting and put on the refer for my wife. Next time I get to REI I'm going to look at the DeLorme inReach.
  7. We are planning a similar cruise next year if I wanted to find fellow cachers I would also post the question on "Cruise Critic Message Board Forums" under "Roll Calls". Good luck.
  8. I started geocaching (12/21/13) last year as way to get more exercise and see the sights more closely. Most of the 400+ caches I've found have been by myself, with the majority in the back-country. Being 68 years old I do get a bit concerned about my safety when I go over 3 star terrain and being in Phoenix when I see no one else on the trails at times. I rely on my cell phone to bail my butt out should I get injured. How many others cache solo? Should I get a partner?
  9. I'm a retired 67yr old man who's interested in geocaching and been lurking here for quite some time. I just ordered a Garmin Oregon 450t from Cabela's for a good price($179.99), should be here Monday 11/18. I have few questions. Do I need a Premium membership to download caches? Is the 100k map on my GPS good enough for mild terrain geocaching? Are alkaline batteries good enough for my GPS? Thank You Jerry
