  1. The coin I did with hogwild was slow getting its icon. They had sent in in but GC appeared to need a reminder to put it on.
  2. Handhelds are designed for heavy use in the out doors and this limits designs. Poor battery life How long will your cell last on a two week backpacking trip? I changed my batteries once on a 5 day paddle with a 60csx. Theres only so long a life you can get out of a pair of AAs. Poor screen visibility in certain lighting conditions Im sure it happens with all digital device screens Rarely does this happen my gps, & backlight on full solves it. Low screen resolution Thats all one needs for vector maps (I hear the PN-40 has good resolution for sat images.) Larger than necessary casing (even compact models such as the etrex have lots of empty space) Turned on how many times can you drop your electric device before it breaks? how about in water? There is the edge 702 if you like real small. Criminally bad interface software Its not great but mapsource works fine for me and there are other exellent options. 1. Black & white screens for viewing topo is a lot harder to read (things get cluttered) and what about sat images. You might like it but most consumers would opt for current colour screens. 2. Dont know anything about lithium polymer. The rinos have lithium ion packs and yes they last longer but once it runs out on a trip I'd need to spend $50 on a second pack and would prefer using recharage AAs, they are a safe bet for maufatures, infact magellan swiched from a battery pack to AAAs with its 500 explorist. 3.Nobody wants to carry a giant brick gps in their pocket Ahem It would be nice to have all the things youve mentioned but ultimately the market drives change and theres a large market for cells PDAs, not so much for handhelds.
  3. Dont think there is any easy way to do it. You can take a screen image (print scr button) And edit it in photoshop, paint, ect.
  4. I'd vote for my own but its been going to arrive in 2009.
  5. I'd like to trade someone for it. ($16.50CND is above my budget)
  6. I resolve to finally reduce my GPSr collection from 7 to 3. (Ive been trying to this past year but I always put it off, or sell one and somehow get a new one)
  7. just out of curiosity, why wont it work in OZ? Probably becuse the 60csx is (arguably) a much better unit.
  8. Now that would be a good idea for a TB.
  9. I didn't mention that I accept Canadian funds. That makes it about $56 USD.
  10. I've been thinking about somehow going on a trip like this.
  11. If you had post a note using no number it still would have let you.
  12. Ah yes, I remember getting one of these.
  13. I know a fella here in Vancouver with a 500 (+Topo and accessories) who is thinking of selling. What price are you looking at?
  14. Never got around to selling the vista. Its available. only have the unit, manual can be downloaded from garmin.com
  15. Very cool. Sounds like there is a Gnaughty and Gnice version.
  16. The semesters almost over and with exams finished mid next week I figure I can finally dedicate some time to geocoins. I'd like to see more geocoins traveling so I'll offer these beauties at the low low price of $7.25 CND (around 5.75 USD). They will be activated and given a goal by you and placed in a cache around the Vancouver area by me. At this time I will not be taking non-activated orders.
  17. I looked... couldn't find a profile... http://www.geocaching.com/profile/?id=1584272
  18. That apears to be the old version and so not a good deal.
  19. My sob-story starts during a dark and dreary and not to mention wet night. The start was 9:05pm yesterday to be exact. I had just returned from my scout troop meeting and was dead tired. But upon going online I see that there are two new caches placed and agonizing 5km too far away, however being the cacher I am, I partnered up and drove all the way, wasting all that gas. It was of course pitch black when we were searching and after maybe 15mins at the first cache I decided to look where my partner and declared there was no cache and low and behold I had wasted all that time scrounging in the dark. We get the FTFs but uncomprehendingly the placer put a non-trackable geocoin (Landsharkz Halloween) as the FTF prize which I grudgingly took and left a geocoin of my own. So I could really use a trackable geocoin to lift my spirits after such a disappointing night.
  20. It sucks but theres really nothing you can do aside form posting a comment on the coin page (and placing it in a cache that hasn't been found in a year. )
  21. Simply put, the design, the mintage/availablity(lower=rarer), the assosiation (Summer Meltdown or well know cacher) and perhaps most importanly the presence of QuigleyJones somewhere on the coin.
  22. Generally its the art work that takes a long time, on average I'll say minting takes two month. This summer I sent a rush job to the mint on July 17th and received the coins on Aug 17th, so I'd say minimum time is a month. (however the mint made a few mistakes so be sure to have samples made, adds two weeks)
