Favorite snacks while on the trails
300mag replied to DxChallenged's topic in General geocaching topics
I always carry granola bars. They have been helpfull a few times when I had a craving.I have given some to others on the trail too. I also like to carry a energie /boost or vector bar too. For liquids I usually bring juice and water. One I also like is a snickers bars. I have seen great sugestions in this topic. But I remember when Dx Challenged came in our area I was surprise to see that bag of licorice. I helped her out by holding the bag I eventually handed the bag back to her as it seemed to be getting light. TKS Deb lol I'll remember to bring my own next time these are addictive -
One of my buddies just got a new garmin map 76. This is what I would also get. It as all the features needed. This will probably be my next gpsr.

Many times I go out caching with my Labrador. I only once found a cache with a treat in it. I think this is a good idea. (the dog too).

I had originaly proposed naming your quilt cache by region ie: Ottawa quilt cache. This would help in finding the caches region. Some have posted their cache like that a few have only put their squares in their existing cache . Not a quilt cache. I would prefer having them all in a specified quilt cache. AS for the quilt design I also prefer the second version. Ps: Don't forget to send me your cache info TKS 300mag

Is there a thief among us??? Two of my Geocaches go missing at same time!
300mag replied to Couparangus's topic in Canada
Tks for the comments. I also liked the cache. It seems other cachers like it too.It was very popular. Next time i'll put them in a more remote area so no one will stumble on it.I might replace the creature by another one. But not at the same location. Maybe the guy in the detention ctr replaced himself with the creature lol. -

I had 2 caches stolen. Everything was gone. One of them was some sort of manekin that I had made as a creature. They draged it away and the cache too. The other was my son's first cache it too disapered. I think this might of been isolated incident. I guess i'll really have to camouflage my next caches even if these where well hidden. -

I would like to buy some mapping software. Lot's of cachers use oziexplorer others fugawe. With ozi I think you can use maps that you scanned. This is good since the mapping software here in Canada wasn't that great last time I checked. What do you use and wich is easier to use.

Cool idea. I am sure the kids must like the idea. You might also want to get one quilt square signed for your troop it would be nice too see it in the quilt

Everything is going well. 130 quilt square's have been delivered so far. More will be shipped out early next week. Me and Cliffy worked till 11:54 pm on this and other project. 5:45am came fast lol. We actually had to check out the hockey game on and off 5/0 Senator's. But this was all cache related stuff lol. We needed some hockey info in case we get some tricky question in a cache 300mag & Cliffy [This message was edited by 300mag on May 03, 2002 at 02:26 PM.] [This message was edited by 300mag on May 03, 2002 at 02:28 PM.]
