  1. A friend that I cache with, his user name is Twistedmetal1967...... often gets shortened to TM1967 or TM67
  2. A quick solution, download multiple PQ's and load them that way. Just make sure to try and keep them under 2 MB.
  3. That is what I had ended up doing. So it is not me..... that is a relief .....
  4. Right this happens when you try and load a PQ larger than 2 MB. Trust me I know.
  5. HOW are you trying to load the 20? It is drag and drop, not like previous Garmin eTrex's. You can still load caches one at a time also. There seems to be a file size issue when loading PQ's.
  6. I have a 20. Will do what I can to help. After the battery pull does it load normally ? What software version are you using ?
  7. The Cabelas near me had about 10 of them on the shelf a few weeks ago. Then is when I got my eTrex 20
  8. Dave, what setting was that that you changed? I would think that the "Geocaching" profile would already have whatever that setting is. Its was in Setup> Routing. That is what I thought as well, but it was set for calculate Routes for car / motorcycle...... Everything else was right Method was set to off road, lock on road was on no, transitions was set to auto....
  9. As some of you may know I own a eTrex 20. I have 2 friends that I have been caching with. One owns a Garmin so no issues loading caches on his unit. The other owns a Magellan explorist. I have downloaded and installed the communicator for it several times, and ever time I try and "Send to Gps" nothing happens. My 'Puter sees his unit and vise-versa. I am running Win & X64 Ultimate. I have tried both Chrome and FireFox browsers. Suggestions ?
  10. Not sure about the Montana but when I was setting up my eTrex 20, I missed one what I think is a critical setting. It was creating routes for car/motorcycle. NOT FOR pedestrians. With that changed it has made ALL the difference in the world.
  11. Congratz !!!! I only hope mine can last that long. One is in an area that is plagued with muggles The previous cache there all ways seemed to have issues. Which is how I ended up the that spot. The other area is WAY off the beaten trail, right near my childhood home I hope they make it to one year, then we shoot for the next milestone.
  12. It SEEMS to be a file size issue. I tried a fresh PQ with 500 caches, would NOT load. I tried a PQ with 200 caches, loaded just fine. This is with V2.3 software. HTH y'all
  13. What am I missing ? A search by GC code tells me it is unpublished ...... Google search turns up nothing......
  14. The only thing I can think of is a corrupt .GPX file...... as I said before I did a 500 with no issues..... and your software is up to date ?
  15. Try Computer> Garmin eTrex 20 > (drive letter here) > Garmin>GPX That is where I put both the .GPX and the wpts.GPX files works fine
  16. Mine came with a wrist strap...... yea the cable length left a lot to be desired. I had the cable from my Venture HC.
  17. http://coord.info/GC211D5 http://coord.info/GC2HM40 Both from the latitude 47 blog I have found these and on my to-do list
  18. I posted a GLONASS type question the other day. I found while using BOTH I was more than 150 off from a cache, when my buddy was ~10 away with a Venture HC. edited to add a link Thread
  19. As long as I am caching I don't care. I have a few caching buddy's, they are fun to go out with. I have a sister, she caches as well, Kyadak. When we cache, with are both out out of the car and hit the ground running before the engine is off, or the car is in park.. The bad part about that is, it is HER car. Up until recently it was my Venture HC and her iPhone. I now have the eTrex 20 and she upgrading her phone. I know I have the most fun with her.....
  20. OK I suppose and ASSume that could be the case. I do have the latest software for the 20. Today was very cloudy / overcast today and very breezy. I guess only time will tell........
