  1. Between three people, we had six different GO2's and they all locked up within seven month's time. Luckily, the retailer we purchased from stood behind what they sold and allowed us to upgrade to Garmin's Legend. Get out while you still can. Great customer service does not make up for a defective product. Sorry, Lowrance.
  2. Not sure what you mean by manually routing, but with the appropriate software (Mapsource City Select) you can autoroute on your PC and load the routes to your unit. Unfortunately City Select takes up a lot of memory and the Legend really doesn't have enough for City Select. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Is it possible to load portions of CitySelect to the Legend without loading all of it and over-loading the 8mb memory? I didn't know you could even load CitySelect onto a Legend... only MetroGuide or Topo...?
  3. viscerator Posted Feb 27 2006, 03:50 PM You can also make your own topo map of the area you are interested in. I have been doing this and so far pleased with the results. This website has a very good tutorial, if you are the least bit technically inclined. Custom topo maps for garmin ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Can you use these custom topos without previous mapping software? For instance, I have an eTrex Legend, but it only has the Americas Basemap, which comes pre-installed in the unit. I do not have any Mapsource or any other software installed. Is it really possible to make my own topos without buying $100 software??? If so - why isn't this more popular?
  4. IVxIV, I have an iFinder GO2, which has a much smaller screen than your PRO. Because of this, I turned off the 'Steer Arrow' function in the corner to allow more room for my map. I would prefer the course line to show from my current position as an integral part of the map without blocking off any of the little room I have. Also, I am used to using my old Garmin Etrex Yellow, which does update the course line from your current position.
  5. Daytrek, thanks for the reply, but that's not it. I still want the map oriented North, not towards my heading. I just want the course line to update from my current position while in this orientation. Any other ideas?
  6. I just bought a new iFinder GO2. I'm used to my old Garmin Etrex Yellow. When doing a 'GO-TO' on the Etrex on the map page, the course line always shows to your waypoint from your current position, even when moving. On the iFinder, the course line stays from your waypoint to the place you were when you started the 'go-to' function. Once you've moved, especially if you're zoomed in, sometimes this course line will be off your screen completely and is utterly useless. Does anyone know of a way to set the iFinder GO2 so that the course line will update from your current position?
