  1. got my smiley on today. Thanks for the idea
  2. Coins look great, just ordered the set. Wahoo.
  3. Thanks for the replies and advice. Yes I will carry a logbook for signatures, realizing that this is not the Norm. Blue Duece "For me, as I only log TBs I actually assist, you're gonna have to let me carry your walking stick as we find the cache. " You bet I'd be happy to walk with you to the cache, anytime your in the Hudson Valley of New York. I guess my real question is, How will anyone know about this trackable? Unless of course they see me and the Medallion on the Walking Stick.
  4. I have a walking stick that I have placed a Medallion that is trackable on to the tip most part (should be very visible to any Geocacher) I wish to use this as I Geocache and use it as a trackable. How do I go about showing this as "out in the wild and available" It will always remain with me as I travel and it's intent is meeting other Geocachers as they are out and about. I assume I leave it in my inventory and therefore others can log it as discovered and such. I will carry a log book for others that greet me and then can sign the log and record a find. Any ideas and help with how to accomplish this would grately be appreciated.
  5. I can help you launch, one in New York Hudson Valley and one in Bermuda. Email sent.
  6. Well I got out in 2005 and just got back in. Now retired, several grandchildren and extra $$$ for the toys and travel, Happy to be back.
  7. Testing this is only a test
  8. Mine came from the movie, "The Day the Earth Stood Still." (Its also my avatar.)Its the first movie I can remember as a child and it kind of stuck with me. Of course some of my friends tend to think I'm a little 'spacey' anyway, with all the techno-geek stuff, so why not? Cheers.
  9. Now that is an original and very cool idea. Go for it, I think you have come up with a very good and valid idea. I just went to the site and signed up. Day one starts tomorrow. Congrats, and Cheers
  10. I recently purchased a Meriplat from Compuplus and was very pleased. They appear to have absolutely the best pricing I have seen anywhere. But one word of caution, keep your eye on the shipping charges, they may seem unreasonalbly high, they are fast however. Best of luck with whatever purchase you make. cheers
  11. I started with a Magellan Marine and have gone with the Sportrak Topo for the detail work. I want to keep the Marine on my boat so I ordered the Platinum for the 'getting to' part and to load my maps and detail and once on site use the topo to get the goods. Cheers.
  12. I have a Sportrak Topo and do not see any signs of cracking, as yet. It has a D/C of 50/04 and I purchased it in January 05. I will keep an eye on it for future developments and keep the thread posted. this is the only topo that has been reported, if I didn't miss one. Possibly this problem does not exist on the newer units. Happy Caching.
  13. This is a test skid. I hope I pass, I studied for hours.
  14. Yea, I kinda figured it might be from when I tried it out. but I figure I will have the software as part of the package and thereby upgrade the definition better and also use it with the Marine. Thanks.
  15. It would be the GPS. I just thought it would be a bit more convienent to have the topo pre installed if I was just out and about. When I priced the topo software and considered the deal for the overall unit, I thought from a financial point it would just make sense to get the unit with the software which I could also use for the Merimary unit. Or just possible, I'm just justifying my want to purchase. ah a day without a justifycation is just a day lost. Thanks for the help.
  16. Does anyone have an opinion on the usability of the Merisport topo GPSr? Conteplating a new purchase and I presently use a Merimarine and like it. Thanks for the help.
