  1. has actually been getting a much better signal the last two weeks, but mainly that's due to almost all the leaves being down now, and since the weather has been moderate (30s-50s) no troublesome air inversions either... It feels good to actually know where I am for a change... *g* "You will kneel before her in her altar in the trees" - Tara MacLean, Let Her Feel The Rain
  2. i think it's a good thing to see this thread. So often we just see the whimpering and moaning and why'd they do this, and I am glad to be able to 'stand' up and let them know that some of us out here really do appreciate Jeremy and staff. We now return you to your regularly scheduled ranting and raving... "You will kneel before her in her altar in the trees" - Tara MacLean, Let Her Feel The Rain
  3. Kudos to Zuck for uploading the bush-whackin' toon here. I saw that in my paper the other day, and just had to blow it up and post it on my wall... So that's what you're supposed to use your hiking stick for, I always wondered... "You will kneel before her in her altar in the trees" - Tara MacLean, Let Her Feel The Rain
  4. I read a lot, and while reluctant to let go of books as well, I've gotten into bookcrossing (courtesy of another NEOGeo who's been leaving them all around). I've registered several, released a few, and would include a bookcrossing cache on any caching foray that I could... Actually, I've been trying to think of a way to do something similar up here... maybe we can create a network of bookcrossing caches... 10. okay, let me point out that some of the subcategories were of course being said tongue-in-cheek , especially the above (that the gps is along for the ride). I really just phrased it that way for the Weblings of the world who rarely (ever?) use the GPS when finding the cache. so, don't be afraid to say that you use the map almost exclusively... 12. I am working on a cross-event between orienteering and geocaching , and I was wondering to what extent the geocaching populace uses maps (topo/orienteering in particular) while geocaching? (I'm sure this topic has been posted before, and undoubtedly will again, but I'd appreciate the data) "You will kneel before her in her altar in the trees" - Tara MacLean, Let Her Feel The Rain

  14. how about a $2 rolling rock? (sorry to further the degradation of this thread, but someone had to say it...) "You will kneel before her in her altar in the trees" - Tara MacLean, Let Her Feel The Rain
  15. Admittedly, Cleveland is a good distance from Steubenville, but we welcome anyone from NorthEast/East Ohio and NW PA and central Ohio to join the NEOGeocachers group on yahoo... http://groups.yahoo.com/group/NEOGeocachers i'm from trumbull county originally and am quite interested in caching news from the TriState area, but admittedly our yahoo group and our planning meeting the 16th is more Cleveland Lake Erie lakeshore oriented. If you find enough interest from other Yotown area cachers, you could form a yahoo group of your own, or find some place to get together Good luck... 16. And I, the other Robin Hood, am 31. No robotic pets, but I am starting a free-range beanie baby zoo for the critters I have retrieved from caches (although they'll have to watch out for that BigRedAnt I picked up, too) "You will kneel before her in her altar in the trees" - Tara MacLean, Let Her Feel The Rain
  17. oops... it's a confusing little thing... first it is groups, then it is group... thanx runaround for posting the correct link http://groups.yahoo.com/group/NEOGeocachers maybe if it type it enough, i'll learn the correct addy... 18. hey there, NEOCachers. We will be having a massive brainstorming session about geocaching along the North Coast. This event has been posted as an event cache: Mon. Sept 16th from 6-8:45 pm. Questions: e-mail me or check out the NEOGeocachers Yahoo! group http://groups.yahoo.com/groups/NEOGeocachers "You will kneel before her in her altar in the trees" - Tara MacLean, Let Her Feel The Rain
  19. NorthCoast Cachers... but then maybe those Buffalonians might want in... but, it's an idea... "You will kneel before her in her altar in the trees" - Tara MacLean, Let Her Feel The Rain
  20. Anyone from anywhere is more than welcome to join our happy little NEOGeocachers group, but most of us are more on the West side of Cleveland or Akron-Canton area, but we're trying to reach out to the East side/Ashtabula/Geauga people so why not NWPA, too. but like I said, I'm partial to the Ohio/PA border area too. Or, some websavvy person could make another yahoo group for NWPA, and we could interlink with each other or somesuch... Dammit Jim, I'm a chemist, not a webhead... But, the NEOGeocacher site (or GONERs, or well, we don't know what we're calling ourselves just yet) is http://groups.yahoo.com/group/NEOGeocachers "You will kneel before her in her altar in the trees" - Tara MacLean, Let Her Feel The Rain
  21. Yes, I know about the Fellowship of the Ring cache up in Presque Isle, and I would love to do it, but I did say day-trip, not week-long trudging through the woods trying to remember when Gandalf said that... *grin* No really, when I get out there, I am sure I will try and hit some parts of it, but doubt i'd be able to hit the other four(?) and finish the FotR. I guess it's incentive to go back a second time... "You will kneel before her in her altar in the trees" - Tara MacLean, Let Her Feel The Rain
  22. Just got mine yesterday. Thanks Crusso for setting this up, and expect to start seeing them around Ohio... "You will kneel before her in her altar in the trees" - Tara MacLean, Let Her Feel The Rain

  24. Okay, so I live in the Cleveland area, but... as I mentioned when this topic came up (and fizzled away and died) earlier this year, I have family that lives around Sharon, PA, and have found one cache already in NWPA and plan to find more (Day Trip to Presque Isle, trip to Moraine), so I would be interested in news of what's happening in NWPA. I did also join Olf D'Coors Keystone group, because my family also has a cabin over in Potter County PA, and there are some nice caches up there, too. Only found the Billy Brown so far, but will definitely do more next time... But, mainly right now I'm working (with CJB4589) to organize the NorthEast Ohio Cachers group (NEOGeocachers), and getting approval from Cuyahoga Valley National Park for a series of virtual caches I have planned... Cache well... "You will kneel before her in her altar in the trees" - Tara MacLean, Let Her Feel The Rain
