  1. Got it a little early, but a Dakota 20. Love paperless caching!
  2. You could hardly get a used old yellow etrex for that price, I don't think you can go wrong there.
  3. Woohoo another Western Michigan Alum... Recognized that shirt immediately. Maybe, I'll head back to the old campus and grab a cache or two there! Here I am checking the water level in Portage for an earthcache.
  4. If you're a premium member, I'd suggest running a pocket query, it's much faster than sending individual caches to the device. I have the Dakota 20 and haven't run into the issue that you're talking about, but I'd go to garmin's site and make sure that your device is up-to-date. Which firmware revision do you have installed?
  5. Thanks very much! I figured it would be alright. I will "Use at my own risk"
  6. I read in a post somewhere on this site that Garmin has different pin-out configuration and universal USB chargers could fry components. Just wondering if any Oregon/Dakota users are able to use another brand car charger. I have a Navigon Auto GPS that has the same mini USB plug and it would be great if I could use the same device for both GPS units.
  7. Just bought one for my mother-in-law. Took her out geocaching over thanksgiving and now she's hooked!
  8. Is there a FTF prize with that? Well I guess you could say that. The kids would certainly think so!
  9. Haven't done that, but I'm planning on hiding the kids "big" gift this year somewhere in our back yard or the neighbors. Give them a slip of paper with the coords, the gps, and tell them have at it.
  10. Check Walmart as well. They were selling the DeLorme PN-20 for $99. Currently it's listed at $149. Never know, they might drop the price again. That's a good entry level unit, color screen, aerial imagery, etc.
  11. Found this "workaround" on gpsdiscussion.com Re: Navigon TS 7000T - any ways to be able to add your own coordinates Not sure if this works for the 7000, but I have a navigon 7100 and found a file in the settings called Favorites.storage. This has my favorites in it. So if I have a POI where I only have the coordinates, I create a favorite, then edit the Favorites.storage entry and change the coordinates to the new ones. Then I make sure to make it reboot to pick up the changes. I was able to find the file on my 5100 and when I opened it in notepad was able to view the coordinates. Haven't tried to change them yet. Hope this helps! *edited* I just tried this and it does work, but it requires quite a bit of preplanning for your day of caching. It's better than nothing I guess. I just couldn't pass up the price and features of my Navigon, I'll live with this quirk.
