  1. I wonder how many people who complain about cost of membership threw away $400+ on a PS4 + $50 a game.
  2. Ok, your computer is associating gpx files with easygps so you may have to right mouse click on the zip file and see if it offers you the option to extract all. Then browse to the directory on your device and select extract.
  3. Windows has zip file extraction built in. You should be able to double click on the zip file and that will open another window with the contents of the zip file which should be the two gpx files.
  4. If you have one zip file, you need to extract the two gpx files from it and copy those to your GPS device.
  5. You could have geocaching.com open in one tab in safari and never close that tab. Just open a new tab if you want to go to other websites.

Biggest problem is people are too lazy to read. If you read everything you can on the website and a great deal of the forums you will learn the terminology, etiquette and proper way to do things.
  7. Handheld Gps units work best when moving at a pretty good speed. Lets say you are travelling in a straight line going north. Each time it determines your position it could be off 20 to 30 feet in any direction of where you are so if you travel 100 feet north before it determines your next position the general direction will be relatively north of your last position. Plus the gps is programmed so the pointer moves slower than with each reading it takes. Once you stop and it determines a position 20 ft. to your right and then next position 20 ft. to your left you will see the pointer starting to point to your left.
  8. I just did a test where I let my Garmin GPSr average coordinates for about 5 minutes and then I let my Android smartphone with averaging app average for about 5 minutes. Both tests were performed in the same exact spot and inside my house. I then plugged both sets of coordinates into a calculator that determines distance between them. It came up with a difference of 18 feet. I imagine this would have been better performed outside but it pretty much shows cell phone gps is probably as good as a dedicated gps unit.
  9. Here is one that has had over 21,000 travel bugs pass through it. Big Orange Travel Bug Convention Center. GCK8ZV
  10. I was just wondering if there was a reason that the old travel bugs had a bar code in the bug. Couldn't this be used to do the same thing?
  11. The new link is http://www.ebay.com/itm/aw-cgi-/141090391167?
  12. Couldn't you just have caches with a sticker on them with the QR code for the next stage. Also you would probably have to be in range of a cell tower because I believe the barcode app needs to access the net.
  13. Actually with consumer grade GPSr's the best way is to average the coordinates. It's kinda like shooting at a bullseye, if you take one shot and it is 3" off then your accuracy is 3"' if you take two shots and one is dead center and one is 3" off the average is 1.5". The more shots you take the better your average gets.
  14. Since you are new I would just try one of the free android apps and see if it something you want to continue doing. You can hide a cache accurately with a cell phone, you just need to have an app that averages the coordinates.
  15. I have some containers that can be used for geocaching for sale. I do not sell these for a living I just thought someone might want them. I thought the best way to handle the transaction would be through eBay so here is the link to the listing. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=141077900550&ssPageName=STRK:MESE:IT
  16. I would get an app called GPS Averaging and place your smart phone exactly where you are going to hide your cache and let it average 100 or 200 readings and then use that average. That will be as good as any consumer grade GPS unit available.
