my husband just upgraded my membership to premium for Christmas, so I was eager to visit some of these exclusive caches, thinking they would be extra special. I have to say after finding a few, I was not really impressed. most were not as nice or in better locations than the non premium caches and I really didn't understand why they were listed as such. not to be ungrateful , I guess I was just expecting something amazing. For me, I plan to keep any I hide open to all to find. makes it more fun if everyone can find them, imo.

I agree with Leatherstocking. SOme of us can't afford a premium membership. THis is supposed to be fun, but you have people wanting to be elitist and only hiding caches that other premium members can find. I can understand restricting some perks to premium members , like allowing them to see new cache listings first. But everyone should be able to find all caches and not be excluded. We have nenver had a lot of money, I can't even afford insurance so a premium membership is not an option. Now I am without a job since we moved and I have hardly money for gas. I ride my bike to find caches here. And what about kids geting into it, who have no money, or older people who might like the caching as a way to motivate them to get outside. I don't understand the need some have to exclude some because they are not premium members. It seems very selfish to me. ANd I also had that problem with a premium cache I didn't know about interfering with a hide I wanted to make in Missouri. Now there is a bunch down on the greenway in Ocala that I can't do. If you can afford it, great. but those without a lot of money have to do without enough without being excluded by their own community here too. In your OP you stated you could not justify the cost of a premium membership. In this post you state your are not willing to pay for one. If you are unable to pay due to economics I can manage some sympathy. If you are unwilling I just see you as someone wanting something for nothing. Either way the reality is you can't see the final cache locations for all caches so you have to solve/find them. Pick your poison. You are paying the costs for an iPhone so I must assume you can easily afford the cost of a premium membership. I see no reason for you to complain. Pay and you can play. Stay with the free membership and accept the somewhat reduced features.

Not sure where this question should go. have been cruising the boards trying to find a comparable app to cgeo. ( i have seen mentioned there is some site or app which was not to be named, if this was it, I apologize) the thing is I have an etrex and when I first started geocaching I used to use it a lot, loading data from geocaching.com onto it but when my husband decided to get us the galaxy phones and I found I could cache on it, I pretty much abandoned it- why haul a couple pieces of tech when you can haul just one? and it worked really well for me as I am pretty much an impulse cacher, I might not know til an hour before I jump in the car that I plan to take a trip so just being able to bring up a map that showed caches and allowed me to get the info was incredibly convenient. but now cgeo no longer has the map and is basically worthless to me as an app without them. I have been searching for apps with the same type of mapping as they had but not having luck. Is there any apps- free or with a charge that have the same feature.. I like being able to see on a map where caches are in relation to where I am at any given time. i have held off on becoming a prime member as it seemed to me the only great feature was the immediate notification of new caches and they usually come out when I am at work so that was pointless for me. but if maps like those on cgeo are available to members, I would consider joining just to get those. i have limited data minutes so I really don't cache that much in a given month. any suggestions?
