  1. As a hunter I'm always frustrated by those that make everyone into that activity look like a walking hazard. No matter how many times they are told not to, there are those that use their rifle scopes as binoculars to check out other hunters. This is the reason I never where blaze orange. I think it's better not to be seen at all. Any wack-o out there that shoots at a movement or noise doesn't belong in the woods. Hunting is permitted on Sundays in most places.
  2. I hate it when you grab a fast lunch at the drive-thru and part way back to work realize all you have is a cold, half squished burger and fries, NO ketchup (catsup) and a cup full of ice. Those dadgum jelly donuts that detonate while on your lap while . It's tricky to operate GPSR's, eat and drive at the same time.

  4. I went to a beautiful remote cache that originally had contained some pretty nice trade items but it like so many had been reduced to crap. I felt the cache deserved some good stuff so I dug out what good stuff I had on me and placed it in there. Funny, but if you go by the log's posted you'd assume most of the original contents were still there.
  5. It appears that caches around my area get degraded fairly quick as well. Some folks think they deserve a "prize" for finding a cache. I don't think that was ever the intent of the contents. Revisiting one of my caches that had originally contained some not to bad stuff. I found it contained basically crap. I wonder if it would be too snotty to state on the cache page or in the log book intro. to "only trade items of similar value."

Looks like the cache hider's got more to learn than just how to use a GPS. I think a teacher would me much more impresses by seeing the student face and correct the inaccuracies and then giving a explanation on why they occurred.
  7. Last time I saw a "torpedo" launched, it was from a ship and I never saw it touch the water. Looked kinda like a "missile". Then there's those missiles launched from submerged submarines that for a short momment are propelled underwater. Hmmm, maybe we shouldn't be so picky. It's just a game.
  8. I would of relied sooner but I was laughing so hard I knee'd the power switch on my computer. Worth starting a 6th page for. I think spidy's a little lite in his loafers.

  10. Wow!. . . I thought they were just a tin ball with 4 antennas sticking out. Actually I thought the GPS was just one function of a mult-use satellite. Didn't realise that the entire satallite was commited to that one thing. Kind of justifies a couple of hundred bucks for a GPSR. Thanks for the link.
  11. What if the cache was 200 miles from the nearest road and was only accessible by floatplane. I think a "Leave a cartridge cache" would be kind of a neat cache for hunters to participate in. Better than choking on McToy's. Yeah, Yeah, I know, "the RULES clearly state . . ."
  12. These days so many folks are caught up in the techno-gadget race with there computers, cell phones etc., Geocaching allows us to still get outside and play that game. What can be more high-tech than messing with satellite signals. Speaking for myself, I sadly find it boring just going for a walk in the woods for its own sake. I like to have a point, whether it be hunting, fishing or just getting to a particular destination. Geocaches make great, sometimes surprising destinations.
  13. First of all THANKS for all the work done on the stats page. I think that only finds should be included in the rating system. It would be interesting to rate caches by difficulty. Perhaps the first 3 successful searchers could rate the cache. I can see how this could become overly complicated. I don't think virtual hides should count. Though some of them are great, it's too easy to create them just to boost numbers. Every telephone pole could be a virtual cache. Virtuals, once reported require practically no responsibilty or effort for the owner.
  14. I hate those "Bear Bells" some folks wear while out in the woods. I was out caching yesterday and it sounded like Santa and his reindeer were coming. I don't think a bear needs a bell to tell them when it's dinner time.

  16. I thought the whole idea of this was entertainment though I know there is a few full time Geocachers out there. Who cares if some notes are a little off topic. They're all from people with something in common. Geocaching! The complaint dept. thread may have gotten way of topic but it sure helped get me through one hell of a otherwise crappy day. Thanks for that (UMC included). Lighten up!
  17. Yeh, I'm dreading having to talk to my kids about "doggy dancing". I'm gone. Have a nice weekend everyone.
  18. Isn't this where 'Geopeewee' comes in. Oops! excuse the pun. I don't think I'm the only one having a hard time remembering what string I'm on. Must be Friday!

  22. I can't understand why relieving ones self behind the bushes, asumingly in a wilderness park is considered 'lewdness'. "Dropping a Duce" on the center of the highway line might be.
  23. How many brewski's can it hold. Not much use in Canada unless there's enough room for a doz. eh!
