  1. GC7CFX4 and GC6K3C9 are the two I'm aware of, both in Columbus, NE. A few cachers have posted spoilers of varying degrees, a found them 1-2 years ago and can't find my personal photos of them.
  2. Hey all, I couldn't find a previous or active thread that discussed this so I am bringing it up here. If someone is aware of a similar thread and can redirect me I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks! Now I have recently placed a multi cache in my local downtown just a few blocks from where I work. My idea and intention for this area was to bring something a little different to my local caching landscape and to apply what is often accredited to E. A. Poe-namely, the best place to hide something is often right out in the open. Now I've found refrigerator sheet magnet caches and A/C Vent caches in urban areas seeming to replicate the same notion and purpose. I wanted to take it a step further and placed a strip of rite-in-rain with the Geocaching logo, url, and the GC code on a roofed PSA board/commons board on a street corner, right there hiding in plain sight. I submitted the multi cache to my volunteer community reviewer with the following included in the reviewer note, "The final is a small piece of rite-in-rain placed about 4-5 feet up on the west side...". I never mentioned a container, I never hid the fact that the final is simply the log. It was published a few hours later. To spare this thread of unnecessary drama I'll simply share that a few cachers are calling for it to be archived. Their main and most fact based complaint is that it doesn't have a container (as the guidelines spell out) which I acknowledge. However, it had been approved by our local community volunteer reviewer who's been serving for over a decade, they've published hides that are the log bookless A/C vent covers I mentioned before (you just sign the vent itself, generally on the internal or concave side of it). I have just over a thousand finds which in comparison to most cachers isn't too much but I've found "virtually" and physically several types of caches that don't have strictly a log book and a container, kind of a combination of the two in most cases like sign a golf ball, a bus, the back of a magnet (various sizes from micro to an A4 sized piece of paper), an oven, a school bus, a cache in Muncie, IN is a laminated piece of paper nailed to a telephone pole, and probably the most famous of all (cause it was awarded Geocache of the Week in August 2014!) a Cadillac! I don't mean to include this list as precedent leverage, I just would like to see what the difference is. I think that's everything, I hope it all made sense. I come for advice and perspective, thank you all for your time. Happy caching! 173Carver
  3. Wish I had seen this sooner, the Ornate Box Turtle is Nebraskas State Reptile! If there is any chance theres a spare somewhere I'd love one, I'd offer to trade something for it aswell if interested. Thanks for sharing even virtually, they are so neat!
  4. Hey Waymarkers! I’m lucky enough to live in Lincoln, NE which hosts the largest single stop Licorice Shop in the nation(possibly the world). It’s called Licorice International. Just to confirm, the best category for this would be candy shops under the business category, correct? Thanks and happy Waymarking!
  5. I was pretty bummed, over 20 of my hides this past year qualified. Better luck next time! I am looking forward to finding the VR 4.0's!
  6. Hello, I need some help with starting my first Wherigo. I have hidden a few hundred Traditionals, Multis, Mysterys, Letterboxes, and hosted an event or two. My goal for this year is to hide my first Wherigo, publish my first EarthCache, and host my first CITO. I have been doing my research on how to create a Wherigo and it seems it is only possible with a Windows, is this true? It is possible/what is the best way to create a Wherigo on a Chromebook or Apple Laptop? I appreciate the help and time, I hope to place the first of, some day, many WhereIgos in my home town!
  7. The Good Life States' official geocaching group is called nebraskache
  8. Thanks for all your info and input guys! "Indoor cache" or "entrance required" makes much more sense for this hypothetical and hopefully future attribute. Happy caching!
  9. Hey fellow cachers! I searched for an appropriate forum to add this inquiry to and I couldn't find one so here goes! Could a Library Attribute ever be? In my experience Library caches are creative, popular, and attractive caches. I generally filter for high favorite point, multi or mystery caches near town/city centers. What and when was the latest attribute added? Would it take more than coding and an upload or new version? Thanks for your time and thoughts, happy caching!
  10. Ah, interesting. I do appreciate that they made it clear it is for permanent stands that are open seasonally. It does seem quite unfinished. What else would you require? Thanks for sharing
  11. A few months late to this... glad it resolved the way it did. Stumbled upon this category scrolling to find another one I was posting for and I'm looking forward to adding to it. Lincoln, NE has a great big name tag! Found this forum looking for more information on how a new category can be created. Happy Waymarking!
  12. Fruit and Produce stands Category would be incredible, helpful to out of towners/staters and supports local.
  13. I can't seem to find this information anywhere else, Electric Mouse. Was there someone you talked to or somewhere I haven't looked yet? I'm trying to place a virtual in Sunken Gardens that requires geocachers to walk along it's defined paths, the community volunteer reviewer is requesting I get explicit permission regardless of it being a virtual.
  14. To me, Wheelchair Accessible Attribute equals more inclusive. A majority of our active local cachers are elderly, or family's with geotykes. Two demographics that could benefit from and enjoy a clever, intentional, beautiful T1
  15. Yes, it bothers me when I check up on my caches and find less or no swag left in them, just disheartening to imagine the next cacher not provided with the original quality and variety of choice provided when it was published. "Always trade even or up!"
  16. Yes!! An irk of mine is when cachers (especially out of state/tourists just passing through) won't let a cache complete it's cache lifecycle. Has had multiple dnf's, a needs maintenance log, and some rando swoops in and claims "there isn't a point to letting it die, its an easy grab to boost your numbers" so they replace with a film canister and skip town never to be seen again. Let the cache die. Let it die. Whatever the circumstance of the CO being unable to maintain it in any way- just let it complete it's lifecycle to allow a more responsible cacher or a local resident cacher utilize that real estate to place a well cared for cache in the same or better place, whichever. Excuse me, point is- the cache has been repeatedly called to the stand, CO isn't around, is unable or unwilling to defend it, let it die.
  17. AMEN. ECBetsy and I placed our first trackable (TB9ZW0B), a homemade cross stitch coin box meant to travel the world and visit Mints (I'm a numismatic), in a TB hotel in Colby, Kansas over a month ago and a cacher said nearly word for word what your quote says, and then the poor dedicated tb friendly cachers after find it barren and my tb is still listed as in the hotel's inventory. Just heart breaking. To those who do such thing, I suggest the fifth circle at least...
