  1. I have the same problem with my 310XT which is disappointing as I upgraded to it from my geocache compatible 205 after it was stolen. Should have looked for a 205 on ebay
  2. Been caching for about a year and son and I bought a night cache kit. Have never been to a night cache to check we'd be setting it up correctly though, plus "night cache" isn't listed as one of the types of cache in geocaching.com so it's not clear how you identify which caches are night caches (although I accept all can be done at night). Is this a type of caching geocaching.com isn't interested in and should we look at other sites? It isn't clear if you can set up a night cache in an area with day caches either or whether the same distance rules apply.
  3. Not hidden any so far. Would only do so if I thought it added to the caching experience and was close enough to keep an eye on it. All the most suitable sites are already cached.
  4. For me the main point of caching is visiting interesting places. Micros and nanos can be great from that point of view. I do love trackables though.
  5. I like the ones you have to work out a puzzle to find and ones in interesting locations where it is obvious where it is when you have the hint. I don't see the point of searching under hundreds of stones or rummaging through endless nettly tree stumps. That doesn't add to my enjoyment of the find. 1 tree root is pretty much the same as another. If I'm in the right place I like to be able to find it quickly and move on.
  6. I've not hidden caches yet but as a newbie I really don't think it would bother me if someone just pretended to find my cache and didn't log it. They are just playing a different game to the one I am playing and I don't really get the point of their game, but I don't think it detracts from mine. Someone stealing my trackables, or stealing the caches does detract from my game. Those behaviours bother me. The idea of armchair cachers I just find a bit odd.

  8. Do many people keep their travelbugs/geocoins and send out laminates? We picked up a laminate with a code after the owner had had too many real coins nicked. We've just bought a few trackables so I'm wondering whether to release the real things (which are more fun to find) or take photos of them and do laminates.
